Any post GD line up w out Phil is gonna be missing something. I do like what mayer does w d&c but this line up was awesome!! Plus of course their younger too.
The music felt good. The time was great. Never had I had the chance to meet and chat with so many "family members" in just one day. That was cut short once the electric treats started to kick in and I drifted away towards the music. This really did cook but I felt that way about the late fall shows also. Just indoor venues in cold areas can't compete with outdoor shows in nice settings for the overall experience. Loved the fall how Robert Hunter played during set break and lights remained off or very dim. I can't believe this has been 18 years. So many have been lost along the way. Kesey had recently departed prior to this but since we've lost Bear, Vince, John Perry Barlow, Hunter, Ramrod AND his kid, others behind the scene more so and others like Rock S. I'm forgetting others atm but only that they've passed.
So many incredible memories from this weekend. Our entire show family, including my 2-year-old daughter Cassidy, were there and stayed at the lodge, 25 or so people, four rooms of absolute madness, the bar and hallways full of electric heads! And the music was SO good all weekend, bringing back so much fellowship and love. NFA4EVAH.
Jam > Cassidy > Brown-Eyed Women, Black-Throated Wind > Eyes of the World > Saint of Circumstance > Mountains of the Moon > Fire on the Mountain, Jack Straw
I loved both. Night 2 of Alpine sucked for me as I got a severe sun burn related to a couple meds I had just recently started. Ended up first aid station night 2 and then foolishly exited out the gate to only cling to the fence to try and hear better. Fall/winter was great, but I was loaded on about every substance group except alcohol and though blurry memories I do remember loving the music a ton. Slight guitar line-up change if I'm remembering right. I remember in Chicago that after the Krispy Kreme caper, we went to our room as it felt like a ton of cops where crawling the halls and walls. Same hotel(???) In 2009, totally laid back cop scene. Nothing like 93 and 94, and people were smoking and giving joints away between the elevator and the door. Maybe was just me. 2009 "The Dead" felt actually Dead in energy and after hearing a little about the backstage politics, it would make sense. 2002-2003 was pretty amazing though. 2004 was not able, or dared not go to shows so soon after treatment and while on probation. Saw and chatted, or tried to, with Vince winter 2003-2004 but he wasn't nearly as happy looking as when he'd been around touring with Mickey. I remember the look Mickey shot him when Mickey was missing some lyrics and Vince grabbed the wheel. 2002 was the first time I know seeing Chimenti play. These 2 on keys and 2 lead guitars really sounded good. Phil still singing strong, Bobby still wading into their catalog yet light on those great covers. The drummers I'm sure blew my mind like EVERY TIME. Sometimes Space could bug me out, not Drumz
I haven't even made it that far yet lmao but gave u a long overdue like lol. I love heads who don't walk away from everything talking about how great it was. I do it all the time too and catch shit for it. Idc if u wrote it Mickey, there was obviously a very good reason they performed it the way that they did.💯✌
This is actually great. I couldn't bring myself to go to any shows before 2010 because the loss of Jerry was still too fresh and I couldn't stand not hearing him play these songs.
Got set 2??? This was an important show for me and my buddies! And where did you get this audio?? i was never able to find a SBD this good on etree or LL..
Jimmy Herring is so good! Widespread Panic definitely made the right choice replacing Michael Houser with him! Would have rather seen him with Dead and Co or Phil’s Band, but he’s good for Panic!
Jeff Chimenti and Rob Barocco were the keyboardists ....I had expected Bruce or Vince Welnick....evidently Vince wasn't even allowed entrance. The thing that stood out in my mind was the band had obviously been rehearsing and were sharp and played material not played in years....was an amazing weekend of music and the last big concert my brother Lee and I attended together. A very fond memory and great music all around
To me Jimmy Herring is the closest to Jerry's style - and all without actually quoting Garcia, plus there is so much more to Herring as an artist on guitar! Several different aspects to his playing - more that what we hear here.
This is... this is an objectively false statement. To ME, Jimmy's style is anathema to anything even resembling Jerry's style, and I only like Jimmy doing GD work when he's with Jazz Is Dead.
@@jebbis6086 Kimock is the truth. Anything he’s ever done has been awesome. Ratdog 2014 tour was the absolute business. Probably the best I’ve ever heard him.
@@thejamnasium6447 How is an opinion in any way not subjective? Herring is incredibly fluid in a way that strongly suggests Garcia to me and apparently many others. Jazz is Dead is/was great, but have you no love for Phil and the Q? Herring is pretty incredible in any setting I've heard him in.
One of the best shows of my life!
sure wish THIS ensemble would get together again. thanks for posting. my fav post-GD lineup. i'm not alone in this opinion, am i?

Bet shows of my life … had backstage passes all Phil / rat dog shows leading up to and including these shows … best summer ever
Great set of musicians!
Senior year of high school, what a amazingly groovy show indeed. What a way to finish high school ☮️love&light NFA GDF ✌🏼
Thanks
Never got to see Jerry live but I was at this show, gotta be as close as it gets.

Bringing back memories
I was there!!!! One word about the experience...FINALLY!

Much better than when I saw them later that year indoors. Of course I was in an altered state.

Micky is embarrassing during FOTM. Great show. Great times. Thank you.
I guess since he wrote the song he felt like it was his prerogative to perform it in it's original form. That being said, Caruso he ain't.

Thanks for upload, what a great weekend this must have been.

I hear ya...I got back into it in 2006... I couldn't listen to other people play Jerry for 10 years....time helps for sure....
I hear ya. It took me till 2006...the bus came back by
Sweet show
Put the instrumental “He’s Gone “ or “Stella “ up please. 😍
The jam starting at 28:50 is fantastic.
awesome transition to BEW
This crushes Dead and Co! 😋✌️💨💨
It was a scorcher that day!
So much better than 2020's Phish. Its just a fact.
Damn that Cassidy is so good
was there

Grate footage of the whole show is now on UA-cam.

Why is Matt Graham tickling the bones?
🤣

I thought Jimmy did a great job. My very strong preference is Steve Kimock
My faves to step to the mantle would be herring, John k, Kimock and warren

5th row with my brother Dennis
At the time, this was like mana from Heaven. The only downer was that they wouldn't let Vince participate and unfortunately, we know how that ended.
Bobby @ 01:00:55
Classic Bobby 🤣
