The new Blackbraid album is brilliant. Best album I've heard in a long time.

Metalhead who grew up in the Adirondacks and this is right up my alley. Love the black metal and some classic heavy metal vibes that he puts into his music.

Black metal mixed with any native cultures musically or lyrically is always awesome or even traditional music of a certain can also work really well like Zeal and Ardor combining gospel and blues etc with black metal is super awesome.

This might very been my album of the year, no joke. Just saw this guy in Toronto and he killed. One man band, native American black metal from the solitude of the Adirondack

Another amazing black metal band (duo) is Cân Bardd. They are from switzerland and their music is not a stereotype. I can recommend the music video of their song "Une Couronne de Branches"

I'm hype about their new album coming out in July.
And yeah... The Norwegian scene is essential, but really... Bathory is from Sweden and they basically invented the damn thing so idk. You can definitely find good stuff from all over the place.

I think ppl are digging this band bc it's BM that doesn't pretend to worship the "devil",of which there are actually many "devils"...He's just singing about the majick and culture of his People, and BM gives him the power he needs to express this.As a peaceful Warrior-Witch myself,it's very relatable.Love the Earth and protect all that you love, fiercely.

Yeah, though that kind of theme is by no means new in black metal, there's been lots of bands ever since the 90s that focus on nature and such... Native American culture is very much a natural fit for this sort of expression though. And when it's done as well as this, it speaks to us all.

@@leifkjnny5424 Yup,the crossover effect...Never said nature was a new theme, but the lack of devil worship makes a big difference....I am 46 years old, grew up listening to Morbid Angel,Death (who wasn't Satanic),Unleashed - who had some really great songs focused elsewhere than anti-Xian devil worship,Napalm Death (who wasn't Satanic),Atheist, some other death/black metal bands, thrash and hardcore (skater kid). When I became a Pagan,i realized that both religions were bullish. If Xianity is not real, then that cancels out Satanism....Still,I don't want to be summoning demons - which are real - while driving down the road bc I forgot to skip a certain song, lol.Things like that can happen to Witches bc we are already open....if u never have, check out the band Atheist.they made some amazing progressive thrash, borderline death metal and it was heavily related to how humans treat the beauty of the Earth.I think Gojira is another good band w such themes.Blessings.

I could never really get into black metal. I don’t like the monotonous drumming in the background while a guitar riff plays over the drumming for most of the song. There are some cool “black metal” bands like Dark Fortress and Dimmu Borgir that I like. I know they aren’t “trve kvlt” but whatever. Taake is a cool black metal band.
