I also regret having mine removed, but we were scared of the attacks and I was diagnosed with gall bladder induced pancreatitis in the emergency room. I had mine removed a few weeks after having my baby. Things seemed to be ok for a few months but then the issue started. I have loose bowel movements after my first meal of the day, every day. The reason why gallbladder stones are so common in moms has to do with very high levels of estrogen during pregnancy; I learned this after the fact. I wish I would have done research before and tried to solve it naturally.

On July 21st, I had a very bad attack…throwing up, diarrhea, lots of pain, and sweating like no other. I was thinking that I was dying. To make a long story short, they diagnosed me with gallstones, pancreatitis, and spots on my ovaries. Weeks later, I went to see a surgeon about surgery. He said he will schedule me some time in Sept for surgery. Wish me luck.

Risk of not getting surgery: 30% chance of complications; Post surgery issues - less than 5% patients
Risks of not getting surgery include infection, jaundice, pancreatitis, gangrene of the gall-bladder, bursting of the gall bladder and even cancer. I think even if you are uncomfortable eating certain foods after surgery, it's not worth the risks.
Natural remedies don't help after a certain point and people do land up in the ER with complications even after that. I hope people didn't take the advise given in this video seriously.
I had my gallbladder removed recently and although I won't be same as I was before I had gallbladder issues, at least I know that it won't be giving me trouble in the future.

My sister had several complication with her gallbladder. She was in so mu h pain and had pancreatitis, at the end they had to do an open surgery and then remove some stones that escaped to the pancrratic conduct. It was so scary and her recovery took a long road and was so paiful. I jus had my gallblader removed yesterday, just 3 weeks after a c section. I am in pain but confident that I will do better with my lifestyle. I need to be healthy for myself and my babies.

YES girl. Gallbladder attack I had this last time , I went to E.R. It was from 1am Thursday until I went in Friday and they gave me pain meds in the afternoon. The pain was in my bones.. my spine, entire mid section, upper back etc etc etc. I have surgery scheduled for a little under 3 weeks. My gallbladder was thickened to 9mm and full of sludge and stones etc. I am ready for it to be removed... More so because I worry about it becoming worse over time.
My family has history of needing it removed [sister, mother, aunt, great aunts...etc]

TUDCA (a purified bile salt) 30 to 60min after a fatty meal helps with digestion. Estrogen plays a role in stone formation. Take liver herbs to help clear hormones and digest fat better.

Well, I've struggled with my gallbladder since my teens, but had a massive attack last night and I really just want it removed now. I've never been in so much agony in my life. The only thing that comes close to it was the time I likely had a diverticulitis attack my freshman year of college, it was really bad but at least I didn't fear I was having a heart attack.

  • @_stephanieponce

So what I’ve found is the rapid hormone changes from prepregnancy to pregnancy then post pregnancy your body is unable to regulate itself and any disruption to hormones affect the gallbladder. Unfortunately it happens to a lot women after having kids (happened to all the women in my family everyone has had theirs out except one). I was frustrated because my OBGYN knew that it was a possibility but never mentioned it. Also if you take birth control, because of the hormones that affects it as well. So much that Drs don’t really tell us about so we have to research for ourselves. Crazy.
I had my son about 4 months ago and I started having gallbladder issues a month later. After being diagnosed with sludge I changed my diet and didn’t have an attack for a month. Now another month later because I now have gallstones I’m finally having surgery. I didn’t want to have surgery but with an infant I can’t keep having attacks. Any natural remedies I’ve tried are just temporary, they don’t get rid of the stones in the gallbladder.

Been having issues since after 1st baby over 8 years ago. I've had 4 more babies since then. This pregnancy I was diagnosed with gallstones and sludge at 10 weeks pregnant after nearly dying from an infection. I had no idea I had this issue but it all began to add up, the agonising pain worse than childbirth after a fatty meal, needing to travel by ambulance, thinking I was having a heart attack.
Now they want to remove the gallbladder after I give birth to this baby. Being pregnant on a low fat diet has been horrendous. I don't want the surgery, I worry about the side effects of removing it. However, I over did it on a roast chicken a few weeks ago and had a flare up which confirmed that this issue has gotten worse! I would only have an attack once a year maximum after I had my first child. Since getting infected and diagnosed I have flare ups and diarrhoea everytime I eat something even a little over 5g of fat. 😢
Don't know what to do. Also afraid of cleanses because of the risk of those. It's not that I want to eat fat, I admire the changes in my diet, but I'd love to enjoy something fatty every now and again.

I came across your video since I’m trying to research before my surgery next week! I had gone to the ER this year with a severe gallstone attack and that ER visit was the first I ever learned I had gallstones. It was suggested I get my gallbladder removed after they admitted me to the hospital because I also had pancreatitis and needed antibiotics. The next day I was prepped for surgery without feeling like I had a choice and this was in the middle of covid-19 so my husband couldn’t be there with me which was terrifying. We talked on the phone and my husband reassured me that I didn’t have to go through with the surgery if I wanted to wait or get a second opinion so I declined the surgery and was sent home that night. I went 3 months without an attack and then had 3 severe attacks that lasted on average about 6 hours. I wasn’t watching my diet however after that first string of attacks I started to mind fatty/greasy foods and I still continued to get two more horrible attacks. I’m glad I didn’t initially get the surgery done but I’m so excited to get it out next week and I know that even with diet restrictions, I would likely continue to get attacks. I’m 31, no kiddos and weigh about 130 lbs and feel like I’m a pretty healthy balanced person. My apologies for the novel! Hope you are doing better 🤞🏼

Suffered my first attack in 2018. Just had mine removed Oct 8, 2023. The bills are now rolling in. I have great insurance too. The total charges were over $40,000. I'm paying just over $2400. I had my removal at Mayo Clinic. 2 weeks later, I'm still in pain...abdominal incision pain even though it was laparoscopic. The poop situation sucks. Never normal yet, either diarrhea or constipation. I'm also a side/belly sleeper and still have to sleep on my back. It's a drag, but I'm glad it's over...and it isn't getting any cheaper either!!

You could have a food sensitivity. Even before removal. Peanuts have lectins and peanuts are a legume so maybe be careful of legumes too as some people including myself have issues with them. I also have issues with seeds.
I realised my seed issue after my gallbladder removal. I was getting better through natural remidies before it was removed but still felt a niggle it was probably from seeds.
I wish i knew that before surgery i wouldn't of had it removed.
Diet and hormones play a role thats why mothers have it removed after babies too.
I agree with you i don't feel too bad but im just not the same after surgery and i worry bout the linger term too. Docters don't tell you everything it really frustrates me too.

I feel your frustration and i agree. I had mine removed about 10 years ago and today I am going to the gastro doc bc of issues I've had the past year or more. My liver enzyme tests were elevated after removal, now they are high. I'm not an alcoholic.
I have a feeling that these doctors don't see the issues that some of us have down the line and don't know about it. Or it's purely monetary. Surgery is big money and instead of handling therapeuticly....
I don't want to say I absolutely regret removal, but I regret not getting educated about it. And just taking the doctors word that nothing would change, I didn't need my gall bladder...

always like to add a feel good story in, just in case anyone spazzes out like I did. I had mine out a month ago or so, no side effects except that I eat less from being used to the gallbladder diet preop. Mcdonalds is a bathroom trip waiting to happen now but who wants to eat that crap anyways, and I don't mean anything horrible by it either, I just have do drop the troops off one extra time a day if I eat greasy food. Only complaint was post op constipation not caused by the 6 percs they gave me. Trying to strain and hold my guts in gave me a bad roid flare up. Miralax cured that in 48 hours. Would do it again in a heart beat.

  • @Pat_handy
    @Pat_handy 5 місяців тому

I just had mine removed today . I had a consultation with my surgeon on Wednesday and she told me all my possible side effects and what could and couldn’t happen . I’m at a higher risk just because of other health risks . But she also said I know a lot of people who would try to get rid of gallstones by themselves whether it was bile salts or other things and she said I haven’t seen much luck of that work . She said my first month I’ll probabaly have loose stools but it should go away after the first month . But she also said since I do have other health issues I could be one of those rare people that have diarrhea after I eat chronic diarrhea and there’s really no real way of her knowing . She said most people can eat how they would eat before hand but she also said some people have to cut out or really back down on fats and some dairies and what not . I know several people , my cousin, my buddy of mine that had it removed and they are fine . They are some fatty stuff they can’t eat but they just typically go to the bathroom right after they eat . But I’d rather have some bathroom lose stools than the crazy pain and nausea and all that . I’m hoping I can recover quick and not have any major side effects .
I was happy with my surgeon who laid everything out and told me what the pros and cons were and she said if you’re having pain now that’s causing you not to eat much and lose weight she said most likely it wouldn’t get better and I would take it out but I’m not telling you in any way what to do . She just said from her experience it wouldn’t get better . And if it did it would be most likely short term and then I would have another flare up or attack and I don’t wanna live with the possibility of having that in the back of my mind that that could just happen anytime .
I was told my recovery time would be probably a month and I would start to feel better and not have too much pain and uncomfortableness . She said everyone’s different some are good after a week and some need a few weeks . So I was glad she told me all the pros and cons .

Thanks so much for posting this, girl! Very informative. I'm actually getting surgery soon, too. I am wondering if you could explain more about what it was like to get put to sleep? This is the part that FREAKS me OUT!! Like, what does it feel like? How do they do it? What does it feel like when they put the stuff in, like do you get sleepy or is more like wide awake to instantly out? Could you have stayed awake if you would have tried or is it impossible? Haha. Basically whatever you remember about that part would be helpful. Thanks so much!

    • @themindfulminimalist2567
      @themindfulminimalist2567  6 років тому +1

Thanks for the comment! I hope your surgery goes well and you begin to feel better soon!
So they prepped me and had me in the operating room, then I think they put an oxygen mask on me or tubes up my nose, and gave me the meds to sedate me through an IV. All I remember about 30 seconds after the sedation was coughing really badly and then everything went out. There is no way possible I could have stayed awake even if I tried and I don't remember anything after that until I woke up in a different room waiting for the medicine to wear off.
So if that's the part you're most worried about, I'd say try to relax and know that it will just feel like you're getting very sleepy very fast and you'll be out soon. I hope this helps!!

My story is a bit different. Mine just happened out of the clear blue with no child birth involved. But I did have a case of pancreatitis brought on by the gall stones and I can't tell you how much that garbage hurt! That's so crazy that you mentioned avocado as a trigger food. I just got my gall bladder out two weeks ago and had avocado and tuna fish yesterday. SO MANY NO'S!!! And avocado was one of the foods mentioned as okay to eat in my home care package. Hopefully you're doing better now.

schnauzer mom Thank you. I am doing so much better now. I just have to watch out for fatty foods. I hope you’re doing well now. I know it’s so painful. I feel for you.

I had pancreatitis also and the only reason they could find was on my hida scan my gallbladder was only functioning at 5 percent. When they took my gallbladder out he said I had choleliathias and cholesterol deposits that he was 90 percent sure caused my problem. My surgery was 5 weeks ago and I am struggling with certain foods. Upset stomach then visiting the bathroom. I’m glad I got it out but hoping I learn more what I can and cannot eat.

Yesterday I was told that gall stones can’t natural enough removed. They said that surgery was my only option. I did not believe that and turned surgery down. That doctor consultation just did not sit well with me

I’m sorry to hear that. I originally did not want surgery either. After multiple attacks that made me fear for my life because of the pain, I agreed to surgery, and it has been the best thing I’ve ever done. It’s not for everyone, but I encourage you to not give up on surgery altogether.

I went vegan a year and a half ago and just had my gallbladder out because I had a stone pass through my bile duct. Im now reading all these horrible issues that happened post removal and super depressed about it.

I'm so sorry. I truly hate that for you! I wish we would be more encouraged to look into all options before jumping right in to surgery. I also wish doctors were more honest and upfront front with us. I'm sure being vegan is helping your situation though. I can't imagine how badly I would feel if I were still eating junky foods.

It happens after child birth due in part that digestive system slows I order to support growth of the fetus. And part to increase fat intake due unintentionally to cravings etc. then when you have baby the pregnancy hormones drop and digestive system speeds up. Then gallbladder can’t react as quickly and the hormone shift affects the bile. I can’t remember all how my GI doc explained it. Mine slow down to an agonizing halt without inflammation or stones🤷‍♀️

I think that moms having their gallbladders removed has to do with yo-yo dieting. That's my guess

Hi I wanted to address the pregnancy in gold blotter one of the main things that causes call bladder disease is high estrogen levels estrogen levels turn on quarters all quarters all's high stress. I also want it to address one of the ladies by the name of Brown that was talking about being allergic to seeds before she had her surgery my niece who had hers several years ago says that she cannot eat strawberry seeds or raspberry seeds or any kind of seeds are even cucumbersates anymore since she's had her surgery so I think that maybe it was something from the surgery itself. A lot of people think that it's genetic like my mom owns it my sister owns it my daughter owns it I have it My son has it my niece has it I have itMy son has it my niece has it I have it. I think we might just all eat a light coming from the same family.
