I'm so pleased you've had a decent year to learn and grow along clare. Congrats on the show!! Next year, let's hope it's even better! Welldone!! Danny 🌱 🌱
Thank you so much Danny. I have some plans afoot for bigger onions to enter for next year. It’s all fun though. The results were very surprising. It’s been a great year. Where others are struggling and frustrated this season, I have limited expectations based on it being my first full year. I’m happy 😊
Congratulations on the numerous prizes 😍😍 that was fab Clare 🎉🎉🎉 a bit of positivity badly needed after the health scares 😢 I hope your daughter is doing much better and your horse is on mend, too 🤗 thats a lot to have on your plate, please mind yourself and take time to rest ❤ Have a great week and best wishes, Maiju 😊 💚 🌿
Thank you Maiju. The results blew my mind! The show was lovely too. Very enjoyable. Thank you for your concern for Hannah. She’s hopefully being released today or tomorrow fr hospital, to continue her recovery at home. It’s been a long couple of weeks for her and she still has a third op to come, to finish off the correction from the first op 🥲 Pablo seems ok too, thankfully. Hope your week is going well xx
Quite a challenging week Clare ! Hope your daughter is recovering and your horse is on the mend .Youve grown some wonderful veg this year ,well done 🥇Well deserved prizes 🎉
Thank you Susie. It most definitely has been a challenging week. Editing the video ended up being a distraction during sleepless nights. I have been so pleased with how the garden has turned out this year. Just wish our growing season was longer. Thank you so much for the lovely comments 😍
Merci beaucoup. Ce fut une telle joie de cultiver ma propre nourriture cette année. Tant de leçons apprises et tant de choses encore à apprendre Ce fut un plaisir de nous accompagner tout au long du voyage
Love this one Clare! Such an inspirational video seeing all that you achieved in this week despite all the personal challenges that were thrown your way 🥰 I hope that your daughter is recovering well and Pablo is recovering from his colic 🤞🏻🙏🏼 Prize winning tomatoes! 🙌🏻🍅 fabulous and well deserved! I need to see if we hold any similar shows in our local area! It would be a lovely challenge to try to grow something for a show! Such a great first year and a lovely video to watch and inspire us all 🥰🪴💚
Definitely look into seeing if you have any local shows to enter, Sarah. It’s such a buzz! We support the show anyway, and are friends with the family who put it on. It’s one of the first things my friend said when I showed the start of the plot .. “Betley Show next year!” 😂😂 Thanks for asking after the patients. Hannah finally came home a couple of days ago. She’s going to have a long recovery but she’s in a lot better place than she was. Pablo is back to normal, thankfully Thanks for the lovely words xx
Thank you so much Kirsty. I really enjoyed the show, especially more so for being a small part of it. It was lovely to support a local-ish event. Pablo is back to normal and Hannah’s humour has returned, even though she remains in hospital hooked up to drains and drips at present. She’ll be ok long term but she’s being tested now xx
Harvesting carrots and potatoes never tires, pure joy! Your purple carrots are amazing Clare and now you’re just showing off with those parsnips 👩🏼🌾😃 You should be SO proud of your harvests!! And wow look at your prizes 🏆🥇 Love your onion harvesting chuckle - if that’s not a testament to gardening being able to lift moods I don’t know what is. You’ve inspired me to grow some onions from seeds next year instead of just sets, which were a flop for me 🧅 Ps I hope your daughter, Pablo and your finger are all on the mend ❤️🩹
I am very easily impressed, which is a good thing when it comes to some harvests 🤣❤️ The onions really did impress me though and I’m very much convinced to grow my own from seed next year now. I’m pleased you’re going to give it a try too ❤️ Carrots and potatoes are such a joy to harvest. I love the anticipation and surprise from their harvests.
Fab video as always Clare ❤ Fantastic harvest, wow a great variety of vedge. I'm loving those black nets they're a lot less noticeable aren't they. Hope your horse 🐎 is ok now. Always exciting your own vedge that you've sown from seed. I did mine late but I live in hope 😂 I'm still hoping I can actually grow carrots that don't bolt or bend 😂 Your carrots are superb 👍😍 Absolutely love the trug you bought Danny for his special birthday, how thoughtful of you and it looks great on his videos doesn't it 😍 I love it how you keep telling Duncan at breakfast that his tomatoes are prize winning tomatoes 😂 Well done on all your prizes too, wow! 🏆🏆🏆🏆 🏅 🥇 🥇 🥇 🥇 🏆👋👋👋 Have a great week ❤
Hey Linda. The black netting really is good. I think I’m converted! Pablo is ok and Hannah is home from hospital now to recover at home. She’ll need a third op in due course now, but that will come after her wedding. The trug is lovely, although I seem to have looked at the colour labelling wrong, so the colours aren’t quite what I expected 🫣 Got to remind Duncan he’s invested in prize winning veg… stops he moaning about how much each tomato has cost in real terms 😂
Thank you Harry. When I was watching back to edit, even I forgot just how much was harvested. Funny to have more marrows to harvest at the end again 🥰🥰
Congratulations. Well done Clare. You so deserve it- you work so hard and your drops and plot are fabulous. So sorry your hore has been poorly- I hope he is much better now. My daughters horse has been porrly for the past 6 months but is on the mend now. Sarcoids that had to be removed and one large one, in an awkward place, just would not heal. Poor chap. The vet has noww given the go ahead for hime to start being exercised so he is now a happy bunny. Poor chap has been on stable rest for 6 months. As an active working horse, he was getting so bored. Happy gardening 🙂
Thank you so much for the lovely words and kind wishes for my horse. Sorry to hear about your daughter’s horses. Sarcoids can be so deep when removed, and if they sit on the girth line they can be troublesome. Did you use Liverpool cream? Hope this is the end of them for you and he can enjoy getting back to work and time out in the field again soon xx
Thank you Sue. My horse is fine now. Even in the throes of really nasty impaction colic, he still wanted to eat! Not much gets between Pablo and his food.. even a near death bout of colic 😅😅
Thank you Barry. Hopefully Hannah will be discharged next week. She gets married in 5 weeks time 🙏🏻 The show was lovely and such a buzz to get placed. I’m currently boiling some prize winning potatoes and carrots (late evening meal as we’ve been visiting at the hospital). Hope you are well and the season is finally going well for you too 🤗
@@TheFarmyardGarden Wow i will keep my fingers X for her that everything goes well for her and her hubby to be and as well for her 3rd op, surely there's a Medical Malpractice Suing the Hospital looming? Oh Barry. Seems 2024 is a tough year for so many of us. So sorry to hear you’re having so much trouble with your spine. 🤗🤗 We feel so bad as Hannah had been suffering on and off for months, with a 9-12 month waiting list for her op, so as a family we all chipped in and paid privately for it too. It wasn’t supposed to end up like this. The NHS have been marvellous in fixing this mistake. We cannot thank the medical staff at Leighton Hospital enough for their prompt action in saving Hannah’s life.
Congratulations Clare, you have done a fantastic job and the 1sts, 2nds and 3rds were well deserved, you have worked so hard and now its beginning to pay off for you. That harvest looked absolutely gorgeous. I hope your horse is on its way back to full fitness now. x

Great harvest and congrats on your prizes! I do like those heavy duty clamps you use to fasten nets, that's a great gardening tip, right there. Hoping for a speedy recovery for your daughter and Pablo.

Wonderful to see you so excited about the veg you grew all by yourself 👍👍. It has to be one of the best feelings. You did! I could not believe I’d get proper onions out of it! They’re so much stronger in flavour than the sets.. which also means they make my eyes leak more when chopping too 😂 Here’s hoping no more incidents or illnesses now x
@@TheFarmyardGarden don’t forget to start your overwintering onion seeds lol Yes I hope now the stresses are done and dusted and that Hannah makes a full and speedy recovery as well as pablo! xx
Gorgeous Boxing Day seed onions! It took me several years to figure out seed onions vs sets. I start mine in February. Mine were very well traveled as they went from home to the Wisconsin place like 4 or 5 times. It was well worth it though as you get onions that you could never buy in the shops. What a fabulous event....congratulations. I probably gardened for 10 years before I reaped those kind of harvests! Well Done. Sending healing thoughts for your daughter and your horse.
Thanks Robin, I’ve been so lucky. I think being home most of the day does help.. as I’m able to get out and weed/water whenever. I am blown away by the harvests so far. Beyond all expectations, especially as everyone keeps talking about how tricky this season is The seed sown ones seem to be much stronger in flavour than the sets we have had. Thank you for your healing thoughts. Hannah will be in hospital for maybe another week. Poor girl had to have an emergency second op after peritonitis and sepsis set in due to a medical error in her first op. What a fortnight for her 😭😕
Hello. Thank you so much, always lovely to see new people stopping by. My daughter is home from hospital now, to continue her recovery. Pablo is fine. You’d never know he was on the brink of a decision being called on him by the vet. Really loved the competition. Thank you 😍
They are nowhere near as good as those show parsnips people grow. They’re massive! I am looking forward to seeing how they do by late autumn/early winter. I’m so sorry the building work cost you your parsnips 😢
I love your enthusiasm, i feel so much more chilled out gardening at home, i've still got onions and brassicas and a polytunnel full of Tomatoes and cucumbers on the plot, but its not stressing me at all! Think i need another raised bed at home to put the asparagus in . . . . . . 🙈🙈
Oooooo another raised bed at home. Go for it! I’m not sure how I’d feel gardening away from home. It’s a different type of effort, just to get to your growing space for sure. I’m very fortunate to have the space I do at home. Are you getting overrun with tomatoes and cucumbers now? I don’t think I needed quite so many cucumber plants 🤣😅😅
@@TheFarmyardGarden ohhh Clare, im sorry i didn’t watch until the end! I hope your daughter is okay?! Ive got allsorts of toms growing on the plot, roma, purple pear, marmand, honeybee, pork chop, Japanese black trifle to name but a few. I’ve rescued the water melon that got munched but rats and its grown back 😀, im giving it tlc in the propagater lol. I have got a hand size Minnesota midget melon down there 🤞🏼 they dont get it! Well done on the show, you smashed it!
Thank you Penny. I’m still in awe over the results. The little winning envelopes are left unopened on the side. Think I’ll buy some packets of seeds with the winnings for next year (£22 in total)
Ooh, congrats on all placements! Also best wishes to your child and horse 💕 I’m strengthened in my intention to grow onions from seed next year. Yours looked great!
Hello.. seed sown all the way for me next year. I WILL have more faith in them and I’ll look after them better. I didn’t expect much and they did all their swelling in the last 6 weeks. It’s been such a revelation. Good luck for your onions next year! We can do it! 🙌🏼
Love your squills of joy Clare and rightly so! Well done in the show! I love all of the different varieties you are growing this year. When do you usually sow your onion seeds? I tried the Boxing day challenge and the only ones to survive were the size of my baby nail! lol Hope your daughter is recovering well, as too your horse. Hope your hand injury wasn't too serious? Take care, hope Duncan enjoys your prize winning tomatoes and have a great week!
I sowed mine on Boxing Day but did also sow again a couple of weeks later. I gave a lot of seedlings away, as I just kept leaving them in cells, not believing they’d ever amount to onions 😂 I will definitely be looking after them better next season. Thank you for the healing wishes. Hannah’s sense of humour has returned, even if she can’t laugh for it being too painful just yet. Pablo seems back to normal thankfully and my finger is sore but semi functional, so I am sure it’ll be ok . Prize winning tomatoes eh… who’d have thought it? 🥰🥰🥰 Happy gardening ☺️
Ball courgettes, harvest them a little on the bigger side, scoop out the seeds, then fill with mince, bolognaise Thai, Indian or..... or.... or .....bake and enjoy.
Funnily enough, I’ve just harvest another fire and said I’m going see about roasting them with bolognese inside. I’m so pleased you posted this to confirm that’s a goer. Thank you. ☺️
Well done Clare, that was some beautiful veggies you harvested and all the prizes you got at the show. I hope that your daughter is on the mend and that your horse is doing good too. ❤
Thank you Diane. I was absolutely over the moon and totally overwhelmed at the show results. Completely unexpected results. My sister and niece also got three placing, so it was a good first show all around 😊 Pablo is back to normal, thank you. Hannah has a long recovery but she’ll be ok. We were very worried for her at one point as she developed peritonitis and sepsis. She’ll be in hospital for another week I think 😭😭
Congratulations on your successes at the show. Well deserved. I have onion seedlings waiting for planting out (nearly spring here). What tips for success can you share from your onion growing experience? I hope all is well now for your daughter and horse. All that stress is so draining!
Hello. Spring….how lovely. I hope your spring is better than ours was. I will be looking after my seed sown onions so much better next year, after this experience. I really did neglect mine! I’ll be making sure to plant them out sooner and I’ll probably be sure to give them plenty of feed and to ensure they are well watered to help them swell. Aside from that they, I think they’re pretty low maintenance compared to crops like tomatoes. Good luck with your season ❤️
You should enter it next year! It would be a good day out for you .. I’d even get Duncan to buy us a coffee because it’d be August eat in 😅 I am sowing all of my onions next year now. They just seemed much firmer and such a strong flavour compared to onion sets.
@@TheFarmyardGarden well, I mean, you’re going to have turn the home into a shrine of all your awards, we can’t have him thinking that this is just a wee fad you’re going through. 😉😂😂👨🌾❤️🥂
Fab update Clare and congrats on your prize winning veg and harvest! Hoping your daughter and horse make a speedy recovery. Those Lucfichoise tomatoes look lovely. Do they taste as good as they look? I’ve not tried them before.
Thanks Kaz. Pablo is back to normal and Hannah will be ok in time. Duncan really likes those tomatoes. They’re not overly juicy and don’t have a lot of seeds in them. I’ve eaten them in a salad and they’re really not bad at all. His favourite this year is cherry brandywine though
Jesus Clare. You’re having a time of it. How the hell can you even put together a vlog with all that going on. Hopefully Hannah is recovering fully and Pablo too. ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Jimmy. I very nearly didn’t edit this video, as it didn’t seem a priority at all but it ended up being quite a happy distraction whilst suffering sleepless nights this last week. Hannah had her gall bladder removed but due to a surgical error ended up with peritonitis and sepsis, requiring being blue lighted for emergency secondary surgery. Poor girl has to wear an external drain for a few months now, as they cannot repair one of the torn bile ducts yet.. so a third op is looming. All of this is whilst we are in the final 5 weeks to go before her wedding.. which she’s been meticulously planning for 2 years. Feel so sad for her and so helpless 🥲
Oh my god. That is awful. Well, I hope that she has no more setbacks. It’s crazy as it was so avoidable in the first place. You do probably need a distraction with your gorgeous award winning garden. Fingers and toes crossed 🤞 that everything else goes well for Hannah. ❤️❤️❤️

It’s a good job Duncan doesn’t watch my videos … he won’t know what’s going to hit him yet, in terms of future plans 😂😅 I’ve seen a few recipes for courgettes and I’ll get on with making some yummies soon. My favourite thing is fritters with gram flower. 🥰 Finge will be ok. I had a spectacular trip in the stable and put my hand out towards the wall to save myself and bent my finger right back. I did need a moment of not-so-quiet reflection when that happened. I also don’t believe in suffering in silence, so Duncan regularly hears about 😂 Hannah has a long recovery, which is a shame as she gets married in 5 weeks. Wedding has been two years in the planning too 😢 I love seeing all the flowers around. Your garden also looks amazing, and I do believe the flowers help to really bring a vegetable growing area alive Hope you have a fabulous week too xx

You did! I could not believe I’d get proper onions out of it! They’re so much stronger in flavour than the sets.. which also means they make my eyes leak more when chopping too 😂
Here’s hoping no more incidents or illnesses now x
@@TheFarmyardGarden don’t forget to start your overwintering onion seeds lol
Yes I hope now the stresses are done and dusted and that Hannah makes a full and speedy recovery as well as pablo!
Beyond all expectations, especially as everyone keeps talking about how tricky this season is
The seed sown ones seem to be much stronger in flavour than the sets we have had.
Thank you for your healing thoughts. Hannah will be in hospital for maybe another week. Poor girl had to have an emergency second op after peritonitis and sepsis set in due to a medical error in her first op.
What a fortnight for her 😭😕
@@TheFarmyardGarden 🤗🤗🤗 Hugs.
Thank you. I’ll pass on a gentle hug in her direction today too xx
Just came across your channel, my what a busy week you have had, hope all is ok, congratulations with the veg 👍
Hello. Thank you so much, always lovely to see new people stopping by.
My daughter is home from hospital now, to continue her recovery. Pablo is fine. You’d never know he was on the brink of a decision being called on him by the vet.
Really loved the competition. Thank you 😍
Well done Clare. Nice parsnips, the grab lorry took my parsnips away! I was gutted 😅
They are nowhere near as good as those show parsnips people grow. They’re massive!
I am looking forward to seeing how they do by late autumn/early winter. I’m so sorry the building work cost you your parsnips 😢
@@TheFarmyardGarden Honestly lost the whole front garden!
You are growing the fancy tomatoes! Nice! I have a Minnesota midget just coming too. They’re such lovely melons. 🍉
Very well done xx
Thank you Penny. I’m still in awe over the results. The little winning envelopes are left unopened on the side. Think I’ll buy some packets of seeds with the winnings for next year (£22 in total)
@@TheFarmyardGarden I bet you are lets hope you have even better results next year xx
@pennythompson4790 wow! Wouldn’t that be amazing? ❤️
@@TheFarmyardGarden Yes it would xx
@pennythompson4790 looking forward to future seasons ❤️
Ooh, congrats on all placements! Also best wishes to your child and horse 💕 I’m strengthened in my intention to grow onions from seed next year. Yours looked great!
Hello.. seed sown all the way for me next year. I WILL have more faith in them and I’ll look after them better. I didn’t expect much and they did all their swelling in the last 6 weeks. It’s been such a revelation.
Good luck for your onions next year! We can do it! 🙌🏼
@@TheFarmyardGarden yes, we can! 🧅🧅🧅😄
😍
Everything is well organized..congrats from new subscriber❤
Thank you so much. Lovely to have you joining the community ❤️
Love your squills of joy Clare and rightly so! Well done in the show! I love all of the different varieties you are growing this year.
When do you usually sow your onion seeds? I tried the Boxing day challenge and the only ones to survive were the size of my baby nail! lol
Hope your daughter is recovering well, as too your horse. Hope your hand injury wasn't too serious?
Take care, hope Duncan enjoys your prize winning tomatoes and have a great week!
I sowed mine on Boxing Day but did also sow again a couple of weeks later. I gave a lot of seedlings away, as I just kept leaving them in cells, not believing they’d ever amount to onions 😂
I will definitely be looking after them better next season.
Happy gardening ☺️
My sister and niece also got three placing, so it was a good first show all around 😊
Pablo is back to normal, thank you.
Super result at the show. That show is huge!!!! The onions were great and everything is looking so healthy and lush ❤
You should enter it next year! It would be a good day out for you .. I’d even get Duncan to buy us a coffee because it’d be August eat in 😅
I am sowing all of my onions next year now. They just seemed much firmer and such a strong flavour compared to onion sets.
I strongly believe potatoes are perennials 😜 once they are in they are there forever
I think you’re right!
@@TheFarmyardGarden normally am 😂😂😂 don't tell bob he will disagree... he is normally wrong
Oh my god!!! You’re a multi award winning gardener now. This changes everything. You’re an expert!!!😉😂❤️❤️❤️🥂🥂🥂
You know Duncan won’t ever hear the last of it, don’t you? 😂😂😂😂
@@TheFarmyardGarden well, I mean, you’re going to have turn the home into a shrine of all your awards, we can’t have him thinking that this is just a wee fad you’re going through. 😉😂😂👨🌾❤️🥂
@jimmyconnolly3461 oooo framing the results … master plan there Jimmy!
@@TheFarmyardGarden Thanks for the tomato tips👍. Keep spreading your positive vibes!
I had no idea I was a positivity beacon until you and others mentioned it. Thank you. It’s a good association to have 😍
Jesus Clare.
@@jimmyconnolly3461maybe I need a tag line.. “award winning gardener” oh wait.. that’s been done before 🤣🤣
1st paty pan in august it's so behind isn't it? Oh my days... 😅 same here should be way way more we should be sick of them an courgette
The boldernice has suddenly produced 9 courgettes in 10 days.. I may have had enough for now too 😅😅😅
Wonderful to see you so excited about the veg you grew all by yourself 👍👍. It has to be one of the best feelings. I see a lot of corguette recipes in the making they are so super versatile. 8:43 hello ladies 🐄🐄🐄. Hope Pablo is better you certainly have had your woes this summer. 🤦♀️ not good news about the finger 👆. It all looks simply gorgeous and the flowers stand out all round the garden. Oh yikes hope Hanna is ok and looking after herself, good veg soups will help ❤.
A great plan for a brassica house I’m sure Sir Duncan of the Shorts rolled his eyes 👀 on that thought 😅😅. He’s a good man bless him. Fantastic and well deserved wins. Have a wonderful week Clare, Ali 🥵🌞🇨🇦
It’s a good job Duncan doesn’t watch my videos … he won’t know what’s going to hit him yet, in terms of future plans 😂😅
I’ve seen a few recipes for courgettes and I’ll get on with making some yummies soon. My favourite thing is fritters with gram flower. 🥰
Finge will be ok. I had a spectacular trip in the stable and put my hand out towards the wall to save myself and bent my finger right back. I did need a moment of not-so-quiet reflection when that happened. I also don’t believe in suffering in silence, so Duncan regularly hears about 😂
Hannah has a long recovery, which is a shame as she gets married in 5 weeks. Wedding has been two years in the planning too 😢
I love seeing all the flowers around. Your garden also looks amazing, and I do believe the flowers help to really bring a vegetable growing area alive
Hope you have a fabulous week too xx
I hope she’s ok for the wedding but takes it easy too 🥰🥰
@myrustygarden me too. Thank you so much for being concerned for her x
