I heard your comments on your other channel about the future. I don’t come here to get any tricks or ideas from you. I appreciate very much listening to your videos. I come here to get away from all of the non sense of this time. Thank you for providing some hope and peace in this old world. I appreciate you and want to say thank you. Happy new year to you and your family
It is wild seeing absolutely zero snow up there at this time of year. I'm sure that it'll be coming soon though. All of the best for you and your family for 2024 Shawn. Cheers!
I use Husqvarna for the same reason. I also have 3 rules to follow when cutting down trees at the cabin. #1 The tree is trying to kill me. #2 The chainsaw is not my friend #3 Always have an escape route. Happy New Year to you and your family. Hope your wife feels beeter soon.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge about building and living up north. It’s been very informative. All the best for a wonderful 2024 and I look forward to future videos. Cheers!
I think that you should incorporate the stove /fire into the building and put the pipe through the gable end. You could line the back of the stove with stones and it would be neat and take up less space and be close to storage and tools. Might work. Also the things going on in the world and the conspiracies, i just pray that you enjoy 24 with gusto and your family grows strong!
shawn I know as a former contractor you knew what a full days work was ! and now as older Men we pittle and You have allied yourself with nature who never rests..It expresses a desire to contribute to your family freedom and is a mighty force! Great allies to bring to the fight for freedom...I hope you acknowledge the God who made nature and are allied with Him as well...I refuse to put my brain on the hook of evolution it is far to organized to be random...This way of life you present to others is therefore the only LOGICAL option! Kudos and happy new year!
That’s the slowest “timmmmmmmmmbbbbeeeerrrrrrr” I have ever spoken!!😂😂. Happy new year Shawn and family. You are a blessed man. Looking forward to seeing what comes of 2024
Love the new intro. Also I enjoy seeing you doing the less romantic things like moving the logs for a possible future space for a new setup, and seeing that sometimes you just move forward on tedious tasks without being perfectly sure of all outcomes. Makes you seem more human and relatable. Thanks for the video, which I know will get me off my duff afterward to do likewise here at our place. Happy New Year's Eve to you and yours🎉
Shawn, you remind me of beavers, digging, building, eating birch trees, always working like birds singing while they build their nests 🪹. That's you, Shawn, always moving. 😅 I like to watch you. Cindy 👋
A most blessed, 2024, I pray health, prosperity in all areas of Your life Shawn. Please take care, give Cali a hug from me. Pass on love from me to Your family.❤❤❤
I hope your wife feels better soon, and I hope you don't get the flu as well. If it's anything like the one I have that's been going around BC, you'll have about a week of splitting headaches to look forward to. I am not the type to go to the doctor, but I've definitely been downing the Sinus DayQuils like they're candy - my kidneys probably hate me by now.
Great video as always! Epic tree fall. I was listening to hear the popping sound to see if you would have to cut any more but, no it worked out perfectly. Callie's love and devotion to you is obvious. She has to make sure that you're ok. I'm looking forward to maple syrup making time on your new stove. I hope your wife is feeling better soon. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and skills Shawn. I wish you and the family a healthy, prosperous and happy New Year. ❤
I have 2 Stihls that my father left me, he processed Australian sandelwood around Kalgoorlie, Western Australia for 40 years. Sandelwood is a hardwood in Oz. He had 8 Stihl's and 2 Huskie's all great chainsaw's. Of the 2 Stihl's I have 1 is now 45 years old and the other is 32 years old, both were realy well looked after and still have great compression and I use them both every winter, though they are a lot heavier than the latest models.
@myselfreliance have you thought about what you are doing with your workshop yet? Taking a part and moving ? or clear a path with your new tractor and drag on skids or even over logs. The tractor is an amazing tool once you learn what you can do with it and operate it safely and skillfully.
Slowest tree felling I've ever seen ! You got a remarkably clean fall without collateral damages ! I look forward to future timber products and firewood from it.... that juncture in trunk where you were sitting might make an interesting table base once peeled and treated ! Happy New Year.
The first 8 notes of that opening track - Copperhead Road! Hell yeah! Happy New Year to you and your family, Shawn, from the Welsh mountains, Wales, UK
Sha as I had for your method, and based on how I feel at 78 , I'm really pleased your reverting to the larger power tools which will most certainly make the completion of your dream come true without total burn out! SEMPER FI My friend
Looking forward to seeing what you are going to do in 204. Hope your wife gets better very soon - the flu is just no fun at all. Happy New Year to you and your family.
Beech are dying around here too. I find this time of year is the best to get it cut and split. Cover it right away with tin and you won’t have problems with rot/fungus. I do see a proper sugar shack with evaporator and blower in your future.
Thank you Shawn for posting life done the James way including all James. I enjoyed the tree felling, motion of as well the sound. Always looking forward to the next post. Also thank you for interviewing interesting people , more life lessons to learn.
Same to you and urs Shawn & I beleave ur right on the way ur world is headed & if we don't watch out 4 our selves no one else's will so wishing you and urs a great new year & god bless
Listening to the tree popping and cracking was so cool. I have never heard that before. Thank you Happy New Year to you and your family. Look forward to following along with you in 2024. Australia 🇦🇺
Happy New Year to you and your family Shawn. I hope you find that middle between work and play so you don’t burn out! I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that we love to see what you come up with while wood working. I’m sure that the same love, craftsmanship and attention to detail that you’ve put into the cabin so far will continue into your future projects. Take care and we’ll see you in 2024. 🎉
SHAWN & OUR CALI !!! will be back I got to sleep now !!! Well got awake after 8 more hours of sleep !!! Pray to God Your Wife & you don't have the flu like I do !!! I keep up with the bills and dishes but don't feel like eating but make clear soups for my self that is the best thing for a person with mash potatoes also !!! Take Care of the pup & yourselves 11204!!!
I started taking eichinacia for flu years ago! Everyone around me gets sick in my family, but I don't!! They tried to take it for one day and didn't get better right away so they decided it didn't work for them! And refuse to take it again! My wife and daughters family have been sick for a couple months now!
im counting the days till spring Shawn..yep,,that nasty cough is going around here again,,i had it,,but took meds to get rid of it...the flu shot dont help one bit,,,you still get it....when it gets down under 25,,i stay out of it...nose just keeps dripping...yes tomorrow is 2024...i hope it gets better..im saving more for each month now,,depends on how cold it gets,,,there calling for a real cold week this week..made a big pot of chili,,that will last me a week....stay warm man
I used to saw at a sawmill in Minnesota 40 years ago! That maple will make beautiful lumber and furniture! It discolors pretty quickly, so saw it and sticker soon!
I used to work at the bear trap resort in Northern Minnesota and they used to make maple syrup every spring.the shed they made it in was called the sugar shack which had a cupola on a pull which raised up when in use to let out all the steam we had a cast iron stove with a stainless steel evaporator vat built on top with old stainless milking line going from the vat to a small milk bulk tank to hold the unprocessed sap and we hauled the sap in small plastic tanks on the back rack of 4x4 atv that held sap from several trees and we dumped that through a filter on the bulk tank with a 3inch detachable hose to the atv tank
Bonjour Shawn, tous mes voeux pour cette nouvelle année...vous vous organisez peu à peu, avec du nouveau matériel ou engin, qui vous facilitent la vie..en fait vous agrandissez votre espace de travail productif..👍🤛
Good morning Shawn n Cali ❤ Cant wait for this spring when you start on the bedroom ! I was guessing on how you will build it ' possibly a A frame with a nice view ? Any who I know its gonna be really cool ! Hey Happy new year ! 🐕 🍁 🌲 🐻 That stove is nice ! Should get alot more btu's out of it for efficiency! Nice bbq too 👍
I guess what you said about one channel being a more romatasized verson is true. But dont under estimate the power of that. I am not physically capable of doing the things your doing but it has inspired me to prep the ways I can. From preparing raised beds for a small garden to stocking extra food to making sure my health and finances are in order. So while I cant do what your doing, it does inspire me to do what I can and will help in the long run. Also I can appreciate the breauty of Gods creation in these crazy times. So dont feel that what you do on that channel is any less. Its not and. Inspiring people to do what they can where they are at is important.
An excellent idea to do your syrup and you do a great deal of planning before you tackle the job. Good luck with the project and have a great year for you and your family and lets not forget Calie too. Stay safe.
Happy NewYear Shawn, wife, and family from the Land Down Under, may you find Christ as your Saviour & Lord and fulfil Gis will and purpose in the remaining years you have on this earth. 🇦🇺🤗🙏💞👌👍✌️👏👊🇨🇦
Happy New Year to you and yours!! Looking forward to seeing your progress, and I was SO happy to hear your plans for future content. Much needed Shaun, Thank You.
Just saw this method that Duane Ose used on trees in the Win the Wilderness series...by cutting 3 rings at the base of a tree that was partially dying or that he needed down, the tree dried out much sooner than if he'd cut it down. What was significant about that, is that the wood wasn't rotting on the ground, dried quicker, and waited until he was ready to use it. Interesting story about his homesteading journey. He has several books, too. Thought you might find his story interesting, if you hadn't heard of it.
Ose was the last person to take advantage of the Homestead Act in Alaska some 30 years ago. Off grid, 100 some miles from civilization, hand built a 3 story log home, etc
I have that same size tractor and would never be able to do most of my work without it. It is used daily from hauling things, forestry and i have an excavator on the back to dig. Good addition. Cant wait to see how much you use it.
I heard your comments on your other channel about the future. I don’t come here to get any tricks or ideas from you. I appreciate very much listening to your videos. Here here, I second this comment
Yes. Super slow mo. I'm drinking coffee while I watch. I like the creaking sounds.
It is wild seeing absolutely zero snow up there at this time of year. I'm sure that it'll be coming soon though. All of the best for you and your family for 2024 Shawn. Cheers!
it's a green New Years over here on the Canadian side of the Pacific Northwest as well! :D
All the best to you Shawn, your family and Cali for 2024! Looking forward to seeing your vision further develop.
Being in the woods is pure therapy. I do it all the time. Best thing for PTSD and such 👍
I use Husqvarna for the same reason. I also have 3 rules to follow when cutting down trees at the cabin. #1 The tree is trying to kill me. #2 The chainsaw is not my friend #3 Always have an escape route. Happy New Year to you and your family. Hope your wife feels beeter soon.
So true about the dogs. I almost learned that one the hard way. Stay safe.@@TubeMeisterJC
HNY '24 to you and yours and of course the star of the shows Cali. Cheers from Scotland.

Shawn James ,ich wünsche Dir und deiner Familie und den lieben Calli Gesundheit und alles Gute im Neuen Jahr 😀🐶🎆
Travel between these two properties could change dramatically if hard times include fuel scarcity.

Best slow motion tree felling ever👍👍
I too join in with all your worldwide followers Shawn, in wishing you and yours a Very Happy and Blessed New Year!
I love the sound of the tree cracking before falling.
The aucoustics of that tree falling are wonderful!
I still love your videos. Thank you for sharing 🙏 your family's journey. Hugs to 🐕 Cali.
Watching this on my phone so I shook it a little to help the tree fall down. You're welcome.

Glad you brought that tractor. As we get older we need a helping hand with some things.

The answer is, if a tree falls in the forest, does it make a sound? YES, absolutely!!💥

I can't see you as being a person who'll ever need to "keep himself busy" Shawn... You'll always have plenty on the go, Lord willing!

You are one of the strongest people I know and your outlook on life is amazing, wishing you and your family the best for the upcoming new year.
I love the new appraoch to your channels. It's clear understanding of what to find and where to find it. I love both of your channels!
Thanks Shawn , Happy New Year to you, your family and Cali! 🎉
lovely sound of the tree
Happy New Year Cali - you too, Shawn!
Pretty sure Shawn buys the stove first and then designs all of his structures around the stove he bought. Which I think is fantastic.
It's good to hear the noise trees make before falling, giving people a heads up on what to listen for.
Szczęśliwego Nowego Roku dla całej waszej rodziny!

Happy day .. Happy year .. stay well with colloidal silver .. germ killer liquid 😊

WOW no snow what a great time to work.
You are doing a pipeline system. The best thing to do at the low point of the sugar shack

Happy New Year to You & Cali, Thanks for this past year's video's, very nice. Take Care Brother
All the best to you, your family and Cali, Happy New Year.
I enjoy the land maintenance/ terraforming videos the most.
Lifting a 15 lb powerhead all day will burn the extra calories quick..
We love watching your videos both on the T V & on the I pad. Wishing you & your family a Happy and Prosperous New Year! 😊
Feliz Año 2024, asombroso lo que has hecho😊
Happy and blessed New Year to you and yours, Shawn. Nice to see you back in my feed - haven't seen your content in several months.
you should subscribe 😊😊
Happy New Year Shawn and family!🎊
Have a safe & prosperous new year!
Good choice on saws and tractor. Think about a 3 point hitch skidder winch for wood moving use. Can't be beat.
