Yes I think the start is supposed to be an extension of The Hungry Wolf of Fate. KG and LW are meant to go together. They even sell it as a KGLW double LP on their website. So I always treat them as one long album.
You can listen to all three microtonal albums and they will flow into each other. People never mention that, I guess because FMB doesn’t technically flow right into KG but it’s the same breeze sound. Whenever I listen to their microtonal stuff I’ll listen to my playlist that I have set up to flow each album into the next. It’s great for road trips.
I really love this song. Its one of the most obviously microtonal tracks they've made in my opinion, especially during the keyboard solos. I think the ending of this track and the beggining of the next go perfectly together, I can't imagine one without the other. They're both the opening track in my mind.
The name that was escaping you was Jason Galea, who has been with them for years and does a ton of their art and music videos. However, this video was not done by him. There are some bangers on this album for sure. No spoilers, but I'm excited for Pleura :D
I think that synth sound you associate with funk is the Clavinet, perhaps most famously used by Stevie Wonder. Not sure if Gizz use a Clavinet or emulate the sound.
The track listing on wikipedia just says “clavinet.” Given their affinity for vintage analog equipment, I’d say it’s a real one. They also use it on Ice V, around the 4:15 mark.
you’ve now been given the palette cleanser from KG, now you’re ready for the climax of the microtonal trilogy. enjoy the hell outta this album cause I know I do
I wouldn't say this album is stronger or weaker, they're different enough. Tracks 3-5 fuckin rip for sure. And See Me (live, Sydney) was for some reason the performance that got me sucked into them.
LW has a couple of the best transitions of their albums. ONE and Pluera would be great to do together as well as Static Electricity and East West Link. I would LOVE LOVE for you to do them together. Im excited.
No one ever really talks about it but you should check out their Satanic slumber party EP with tropical f*ck storm they have a music video with part 2.

I think they won an environmental award for this song. Read the lyrics really simple but pertinent.
O.N.E. video is amazing and I watch it often. It’s by far my favorite. That build is fantastic

Totally agree!
The beginning of K.G. is actually the ending of FMB played in reverse!
Yeah i actually noticed the breeze thats all over FMB is present in the beginning of the first some on KG

If Not Now Then When? -> O.N.E. -> Pleura has to be one of, if not my favourite 3-track runs in the King Gizzard discography
All top tier for sure.
LW is such a banger album

O.N.E (the next track) is one that you'll like to check out in something like studio vs live, is a little different in the 2 versions
Is that not pleura?
@@Brain.Damage. I mean Pleura is more like "studio" vs "Videoclip"

Cool! Thanks for sharing :)

if not now then when was either the first or the second king gizzard song I ever heard.
Excited for you to hear his album man. I have ever a feeling pleura is gonna be ur favorite track.
This is the first album I ever heard of them and is what got me into them.
Also KGLW is the ultimate final boss level music which you'l probably like. Sounds like Mario Bowser level for adults.
This album is incredible. Enjoy!
The one song you gotta check out the live version of is KGLW. The studio version is extremely tame in comparison
I agree. The best part of the studio version tho is Stu's microtonal whoo's that actually sound really cool.
It will be really interesting to see if you prefer KG or LW
The transition from hungry wolf of fate to this is seamless so if you listen to these on your own do both!

Don't forget your jammies!
Oh yes! LW is definitely superior compared to KG.
As for the song meaning, they are talking about human influence on the planet in general.
Understandable, but counterpoint: ontology
HWFG
This album is great and the last track KGLW is heavy AF.
No spoilers please 🙏🏻
Too late.
When are you going to listen to ambrose band murlocs!?
Funky keys? Clavis. The kind Stevie wonder uses
