Sarah, would it be good to stay in a hotel in Queens or Brooklyn (Days Inn or Motel 8, _if_ they exist)? Or should I save a s--tload of money and stay in a top-rate Manhattan one?
@@usmansabir3840 That depends on what you plan on doing. Museums are expensive, and restaurants are usually not cheap, but there are ways to save some money on food. Tell us where you plan on staying and what you plan on doing, and we can give you more information and suggestions.
Took your advice and got a hotel in Long Island City. Saved enough money on a 3 day stay to pay for tickets to a show on Broadway. Thanks. The skyline view is a highlight.
Highbridge Hotel in the Bronx! I just spent a week there last week. A little under 200 a night. Most reasonably priced full featured hotel I’ve ever seen in the city! 3 minute walk from the 4 train, safe neighborhood, continental breakfast, extremely safe and clean hotel with BIG rooms and beds. Literally can’t beat that
This video is a fantastic guide for anyone planning a trip to New York City, especially those who want to find the perfect place to stay without breaking the bank. The detailed list of hotels and accommodations offers something for everyone, no matter your budget. I appreciate how the video not only highlights the best places to stay, like Aloft LIC and the Refinery Hotel, but also provides useful links and a free 3-day NYC itinerary, which is incredibly helpful for first-time visitors. The inclusion of hotels across different neighborhoods, like Arlo Williamsburg, shows a well-rounded understanding of the city, allowing viewers to explore beyond the typical tourist spots. The video's production quality and the clear, concise information make it a must-watch for anyone looking to make the most out of their NYC visit. Whether you’re a budget traveler or looking for something more upscale, this guide has you covered. Great job on creating such an informative and engaging video! I’ll definitely be checking out some of these recommendations on my next trip to NYC
I love how the title says staying in NYC without going broke. Every hotel is really really expensive. How about doing a video on hotels normal people can afford? I don't mind a tram or train ride that is 30 minutes out. I would love to take my family there during Christmas Time. What hotels are there, further away, that we can stay at with easy (ish) transportation to all the tourist sites. I don't mind a 30 or so minute ride but I'm not paying $500 a night for a hotel. That's insane. Any ideas? Thanks
I went to NY in December, and we stayed in Sonder at Battery Park. It was a pretty good stay, the commute was pretty easy too to all out of attractions
Another option is to stay in Jersey City or Hoboken. You can get into Manhattan just as fast as you can from Queens. In Jersey you'll get a view of Manhattan, but you'll be paying less money or getting much more space for your money. Also, if you want to drive to NYC you can park your car in Jersey for MUCH less. Leave your car in Jersey and take the PATH or ferry into Manhattan. Jersey City and Hoboken look just like many parts of Brooklyn. You can take pictures of Hoboken or JC and tell your friends you stayed in Brooklyn and they'll never know the diff.
@@boredfairy7089 'W' Hoboken. Pricey. Good views of Manhattan. Public parking garages near hotel. Easy assess to Manhattan ferry service (expensive) or PATH train ($2.90/10 minutes to Manhattan) . Beautiful suggestions! Love your outfit and thank you for the vlog. Greetings from Melbourne, I returned home after living in NYC last year so nice to see NYC at its best!
Hey Sarah, my husband and I spent an amazing week in NYC last month for our 15th wedding anniversary. It was my first time in the city and we had to go on a budget and we went with a hotel in Maspeth Queens next to some business, near a highway and next to an old Jewish cemetery. No tourists. Definitely where the real New Yorkers lived because we commuted by bus, to the subway station, to Manhattan, etc. We also chose it because we drove to NYC and needed to find a place with free parking so hey, it was there and you know what?? It didn't change our enjoyment of NYC at all. Did we have the great spectacular view? No. It was a very quiet view of graves but we weren't spending much time at the hotel because we were spending our time exploring the city and experiencing NYC as a regular local and I fell in love! I want to go back so much now 🤩😍 so even though we were at a cheap but comfortable hotel, it still worked out for us in the end.
Thank you Sarah, I'm at Long Island City now on your recommendation. Aloft Long Island City is a great stay, thank you. I didn't get balcony suit, but I have a good view of Manhattan. 🎉
Dang. You're idea of "without going broke" is a bit different than mine. :D ...luckily there are affordable places. Staying in Downtown Brooklyn in February. $120-ish night. Also great train options there.
Just went to New york for the first time and followed your advice regarding Long Island and stayed at the Boro Hotel walking distance to the metro , some views, good breakfast, rooms basic but good . The only thing the whole city smells like weed 😂
Oh yeah, I noticed that as well, I actually got sick of the smell once I’d been there for about a week! The US Open was on at the same time and the attendees there were bitching about the smell wafting over the courts. 🤣

LIC all the way. I've stayed with friends and in the middle of Manhattan in a nice hotel but LIC is the way. My up coming visit will be the 2nd time in LIC with a different hotel so can't speak to the hotel just yet. However the location is ideal, 2 mins from a subway stop which goes right into Manhattan. Also a nice, safe feeling area, which is a big deal.
I stayed at The Flat NYC on W 24th St in the Flatiron District, really central to all the main tourist sites and attractions and had some good food options nearby. Rooms were a little small which is typical of big city hotel rooms in NYC, London, Paris etc and there were shared bathrooms but overall it was comfortable and the staff were really friendly, also free water, tea and coffee in the lobby. It was about $216USD per night which was not bad value given it was pretty centrally located, I’d recommend it to people wanting to stay in midtown Manhattan.
@@justSTUMBLEDupon yeah, I mean it’s nice when you’ve got your own bathroom, but shared bathrooms I’ve found fine given places like the YHA/HI have it pretty consistent and clean them regularly, also is cheap in terms of room price. If you mean the Upper West Side as a neighborhood, yeah, it's safe. I grew up in that neighborhood in the 1970s and 80s, when it was dangerous, and I still take precautions like never putting anything of value in my back pockets or putting a bag down where it's easy to grab and run away with. In November 2024; Me And My Beautiful Asian Wife (Maya-Minnie-Chu) Will Be Finally Getting Married In New York City; We Will Be Staying In One Of The Hotels In Time Square.
Myself and my wife are coming to new York for the first time from the UK in exactly 1 year. What is the weather like, what's best to do, as we are staying 5 minutes from time square?
I just got back from NYC Nov 6-11. It was fairly nice weather but if you go out early in the morning or in the evenings it will be a little cold. Definitely pack a warm coat, hat and gloves. I stayed fairly close to Times Square which I didn't like, but it's a good central location. Don't spend too much time in Times Square. I recommend Edge (for the most incredible views), Brooklyn Bridge at sunrise and sunset (in Dumbo), Central Park, shopping in Soho, restaurants/shops in the West Village, walk the Highline... to name a few things- there is SO much to do! You may want to see a show on Broadway. I went to the NY Philharmonic and it was incredible. I prefer lower Manhattan to Upper Manhattan although I really love Upper East Side. Hope you have the best time!!
I really would avoid Times Square. The crowds are horrible - it’s the worse thing trying to get to the theatre. I often take a subway stop above Times Square and walk down 7th to avoid the nightmare. Almost preferred the area when the pimps and hookers were around in the 1980s. At least you can get about and Broadway had lower prices to attract the audiences to the area!
Hi! I am a woman coming soon to NY alone, and I was wondering if you have any tips for going from midtown to Long Island City at night. I am seeing a show at Lincoln Center that lets out around 10 and in other videos you’ve mentioned that it’s not the best idea to take the subway that late but are there any other safer options? Should I “splurge” in an Uber? Thanks so much for your videos, they’ve been tremendously helpful and very entertaining ❤
Uber and Lyft are huge ripoffs in New York City. Taxis, though expensive, cost less here. If I were you, I'd take a subway, but I'm not you and I'm a man, so you'll have to make up your own mind, but loads of people of both sexes take the subway after 10.

We stay at the Hyatt in Long island city. I got a 2 bedroom suite for me, my wife and 3 kids for less than $280 canadian back in late Feb 2023. Also, they gave me in and out parking at the hotel for $30 usd per day. We stayed for 3 nights, sunday to Wednesday.
great again!!!!!!
All good info to know
Where is the new home?

Stayed at the Iroquois for years every month, great place. It was like coming home.
Hi iwant to stay a hotel in new york city
Love your video. However, my question is, why are there showers still being used in hotels in 2024. I hate that
Este foarte frumos
Why are shower curtains still being used in 2024. Obviously, walking showers are more modern.
Hi iwant to come to New York city ❤😂😂🎉
Dont look if theres microtransaction.
manhadden?
Hi, when would xmas lights are up in Manhattan besides Rockefeller? I am looking for Thanksgiving week to see the beauty of New York. Thanks
Can you do a video on the best Airbnbs for 1 month short term stay in NYC?
Effective December 1st Airbnb owners in NYC are required to stay in the apartment with their renters.
@@ssadvweld1Can you share a source? I just Googled and can't find anything that substantiates this. 🤔
Google New York, NY Airbnb new rules. Rentals shorter tan 30 days are only allowed if hosts register with the city and commit to being physically present in the home for the duration of the rental and share living quarters with their guest. They are trying to increase the rental properties available for tenants. @@gracepattie
@@ssadvweld1 this only only applies to short-term rentals. If it's a month or longer there is no problem with a private airbnb apartment.
Still super expensive 😅
NYC is more expensive than London and Paris. $250 is ridiculous for a distant cheap location.
I’m going in a week and still don’t know where to stay. I’m broke asf but need to go. Let me know if you have any recommendations
In November 2024; Me And My Beautiful Asian Wife (Maya-Minnie-Chu) Will Be Finally Getting Married In New York City; We Will Be Staying In One Of The Hotels In Time Square.
Who has stayed at the Sonder that can give me some feedback
@@kathrynarnold313 thank you so much.
This hotel's are not much cheaper then comparable hotels in Manhattan
