So communists haven't caused an ecological crisis either? Hilarious!! Platonic philosophy as exponential wealth growth for the elite is the basis of both communism and capitalism. Logarithmic math is the inverse of the exponential function - Marx USED logarithmic math to critique capitalism but Marx still used the wrong mathematics aka "commutative geometry" math is the wrong paradigm. Noncommutativity is the truth of nonwestern ecological cultures from our original human culture that lived peacefully with Nature since 225,000 years ago.
Rachel, l am an old man with grand children and have been watching this madness for decades. Thank you and your guests for all your hard work, we all need each other.
Hi Rachel, I've been following your podcast for over an year now all the way from Brazil. You're doing a great work that is really needed at this day and age, thank you for the work and I hope it keeps going for much longer!
We need an app that allows us to track and understand what are representatives are voting on and drafting for vote. So that we can easily and quickly activate politicians to vote in the working class favour. Economically and more importantly ecologically.
If you listened to the whole podcast you will know why. They may have the moral high ground, but they have no power, for the reasons above, Unfortunate truth.
the corporate media is obsessed with elections because the Customer of the corporate media is Corporate 100% tax deductible advertising. Elections are a huge cash crop for the corporate media. The "Two parties" are both controlled by corporate Law with corporations protected by the Bill of Rights as "legal persons" - meaning Free Speech Money, etc. Due Process - the right to profit (pillage and plunder). So Platonic Philosophy says that "each person" is valued in democracy as 9/8 major 2nd music interval that is converted to logarithmic geometric magnitude with 9/8 cubed as the Tritone or the Tyrant inherent to democracy. The secret inverse of logarithms is the exponential wealth growth for the elite. Study economics professor Michael E. Hudson for details (he started out in music).
I came to that conclusion in 1996 so logically then the next question was to find out what happens after death. So I finished my master's degree in 2000 by doing intensive meditation with a Chinese qigong spiritual yoga master. I know that ghosts are for real for example. Western modern mentality has no idea what's going on.
I hope you get to talking about employee owned companies. Truly put the power back into the hands of those that will steward our planet and preserve life for the future.
Get professor David Harvey on the podcast. A great marxist analysis on the current state if the world. I love the m-c-m prime framework. Proves the labor theory of value, which is completely tied to geography and the environment.
The Marxists trying to co-opt radical ecology truth is hilarious. Yeah that's been going on since the whole "political ecology" geography scene from the late 1990s.

I really think the term 'climate corruption' is an excellent term that should repeated .... along with 'ecological corruption'... we are way too powerful a species to not be aware of our global impacts.
Capitalist socialization is socialization through individualization as isolation. The right can draw on remnants of tradition (be it family, religion, local communities) as well as consumerism as a community foundation (professional sport, the entertainment industry in general), while progressive movements must first create a post-capitalist social forms that enable non-violent inequality. Unfortunately, the time for this is running out very quickly. The only thing that's certain is that no party will save us.
Untrue, Net Zero policy is overwhelmingly a middle-class & educated elite bugbear. The brunt of high energy and food costs due to climate policy disproportionately hurts working class people who do not open assets.
The statement that capitalists don't do infrastructure because it's not as profitable may be partly true, but there are people all over the world trying to prevent capitalists from taking over public infrastructure.
public housing is great but the Median Farm income in the U.S. in 2021 was $210.00 for the year!!! Without food then housing won't matter. Abrupt global warming will undermine farming much faster than any public housing can be built.
I'm tried of privileged university educated people telling me about being working class and trying to highjack. I was in Unifor and was a miner and very working class.. Office work isn't work..
that's true but he probably is from a working class family who wanted their son to be upwardly mobile - and thus he has finally succeeded. Tragic that people have to sell out to be a success but our civilization is based on that fact.
ALGAE is the only "policy" that can save civilization. Take to double Ph.D. Marine Biologist Raffael Jovine and Sir David King for details. I did a youtube talk on environmental coffeehouse on algae - look that up. thanks
the problem with the international "working class" movement is it was tied to Western imperialism as communism - aka Putin now. Mao back then and Stalin, etc. Two wrongs don't make a right. Working Class is still Platonic Western philosophy as "development."
1. If we wait for a change of social structure to do anything significant, we will be waiting a very long time. I did an experiment regarding what part of society will actually get off their backside and do something for the good of all. And it turns out the middle class are the ones with some time spare to do something which requires a social conscience.
2. The experiment: The UK Parliament has a petitions website. Members of the public can start a new petition. And then people can sign the petition. And the number of signatures is shown straight away on the web page for that petition. And very usefully, it shows it by parliamentary constituency. So, I had a few thousand leaflets printed, giving the link to the petitions page and with a QR code to it too.
4. The experiment was conducted in the City of Bath. This is a single parliamentary constituency. It has areas that are extremely walthy, areas that are middle, and also very deprived areas, which the tourists do not see. And also a substantial students area. Each weekend I would deliver a fixed number of leaflets (300), in specific types of area. In the 4 categories above. Then during the following week I would check the numbers signing the petition. Nearly all signatures would be within the first day or two of the leafleting.
5. Results: There were cloze to zero who signed the petition in the very wealthy area. There were a handful in the less well off area. Typically a dozen in the students area. But the big response was in the middle class area. Typically 50 signatures. I repeated the deliveries 10 times (3000 leaflets total). It was quite informative an experiment.
6. In summary: we must work with the social structure that already exists. If we add a sequential dependancy (changing the social structure) onto the need to tackle the climate crisis, we will just be delaying addressing it. Those in middle class areas have spare resources (time and money) to really do something useful. If you frame the climate problem as "class war" then you already lost the middle class. And they are the key sector to really do anything significant. You should not be alienating those who are your natural allies.
it's all about "eroi" energy return on investment" - so you get more power for less money spent. It's a colonial cartel monopoly as the U.S. Petrodollar - so the value of Oil is subsidized by U.S. military as the largest oil consumer to "protect" the sources of oil.

Green energy is a loser on all counts. It is antidemocratic.
chinese manufacturing undercuts that.... agriculture, industrial... margins are very low thus needing super cheap energy.... without that outlet energy could cost a bit more allowing investments there. ie companies pay dirt cheap for energy, small business and residentials pay high fees.

You're presuming useless jobs that just prop up the amount of debt we have, still are needed in the future. If the world is in crisis, it might just be that food shelter and medical care and infrastructure and the only jobs needed revolve around those. We have as a culture, jobs for jobs sake and money being an allowance to boundless energy, depending on the amount you have, has to stop.
