Tha first call...maaaaannnn. i feel for that operator who took that call. He'll hear that in his nightmares i bet. I sighed so deeply when he said about the little girls party next door. He obviously has a heart and is caring, but he just couldn't cope with all those years of being a husband turned caregiver. Obviously not condoning what he did AT ALL, but thats just so heart breaking all around.

I have been a caregiver to my husband with mixed dementia’s it was definitely not an easy journey. I don’t condemn the man, especially when he was elderly. It’s hard, very difficult to take as the sole caregiver. I still couldn’t do that. But I got very ill. Sometimes the caregiver die before. I thought I would , my husband died in the hospital on hospice. It’s so very sad, but he’s in peace now

What bothers me is if he had called and told them that he couldn't take care of her, then I think they would have put her in a care home or maybe relatives would have taken her. Very sad! I didn't understand what the "diminished responsibility" was. Maybe cuz he wasn't all there, mentally??

I'm watching this from the west coast of Canada. I just want to say how very very kind, caring and understanding the ambulance attendants are with all the people they tend to. In this world of anger and conflict, its so reassuring to see that it appears to me that most people really are what I believe - good and kind.

@@suestone914 made the lady a cuppa ! Imagine that?!! Being an EMT is an extremely tough job; I agree. Unfortunately in the USA ambulance service costs big bucks and I’m sure EMT’s are under pressure. The NHS may not be perfect but the public is cared for and no thousand dollar invoice sent to the poor bloke who has had to dial 911 for emergency care. USA health care is sad.

@@babawawa1953 My elder mom had to call 911 just two days ago here (Vancouver Island, BC). Two ambulances came very quickly for her and the EMTs were very helpful, kind and thorough, as were all the care workers in Emergency at NRGH. Not condoning what that first man did, but anyone who's been a caregiver long enough, especially someone with dementia knows how horrific it can be. Lack of sleep, feeling trapped, and chronic stress can really make you lose your sanity. It's a slow burning torture.
I was my grandmother's sole carer for 7 years, and towards the end I became a shell of myself. Even 6 years later I suffer with PSTD. Dementia is such a sinister illness.

I can totally understand that it most definitely must of not been easy, in that case he should of let someone else care for her if he could not cope, because now he will be spending the rest of his old years behind bars, and if he is ok with doing that then maybe he felt like he has nothing to lose because he is already of old age.

I don’t blame the 999 receiver for having to leave his desk for a few minutes to take that in and process what that man did to his wife that was a shock. Usually, you don’t get those calls.
In these videos, my heart always goes out to those elderly people who live by themselves who have to care for themselves and when something happens, they’re all alone. I know the elderly very can be stubborn they want their life the way it’s always been. They don’t want to be looked after they want to be on their own very independent. Sometimes though they really need their family to step in.
I absolutely love these videos. Thank you for making them available for us to watch!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🌟🌟🌟🌟

Wow, "the stories behind the sirens". What a great title. Having been in the medical profession for 52 1/2 years in a variety of job descriptions, finally retiring as a Hospice and Home Health nurse, I can attest to the powerful emotions that I've dealt with on an almost daily basis. Occasionally, we'd gather to jokingly state that we'd been in that house & that house, as we travel through our community. Those of us who are called to our profession do so with a sense of commitment, and are rewarded by the help we provide to others in need.---Well done to all of you who deal with crises on a daily basis. More power to you, because it would be too fast--paced for me.

Is there no escape from football ANYWHERE? I can't believe that woman apologised for interrupting someone's viewing to tell them about a very sick man, and within four minutes of a "game" ending, one hundred plus men are fighting. What is wrong with people? Football's not a game any longer, it's a menace.

Perhaps I am wrong. Being bossy. Use to work for senior services, and found , where there is a caregiver coming in during the week, live-in caregivers were much better able to handle situations and confinement of total care. Especially when they could call for help at other times. What I was wondering is this, what if another member of the family were able to move in and share the care? Say for a week and then switch out to another one? Sorry people, I think too much. Live alone. Oh, say, my grandson paid a visit today! Yes!

I can’t give a lot of sympathy with people who knowingly take drugs and alcohol…..as opposed to the other medical issues that show up….

I totally get where you're coming from. It's hard to feel sympathy when people knowingly put themselves in harm's way with drugs or alcohol.

It’s one thing if it's a medical issue that’s beyond someone’s control, but when it’s something they’re choosing to do, it can be tough to muster up empathy. That said, I think it's important to remember that addiction is often more complicated than it seems-it’s a disease, not just a choice.

But your point is valid-personal responsibility does play a big role. It’s definitely a tough balance......😊

God made us for procreation. He made man and woman, then told them to be fruitful and multiply❤

Be fruitful and multiply was a blessing, not a command.
