These are currently £69.99 on Sports Shoes and I had a 15% off code, needless to say I snapped them up. My first Hoka trainers and looking forward to having them in my rotation for the longer easy runs 👍
I've only used the Rincon V1, and LOVED that shoe until about 225-250KM when I started to experience shin pain on the medial side. Where the foam was effectively crashing in on the medial side. Basically had to retire the shoe at 275KM after several tests and kept getting the same shin pain. I then moved on to the Mach4, and that shoe has worked amazing for me. Got my first pair to 550KM before I started to feel the medial side crashing effect, so I retired them, and bought a 2nd pair. And even at 550KM the outsole wear is cosmetic. Thanks for the long term Rincon review, people need to see more of these types of reviews.
@@TheRunTesters The newer super squishy foams tend to do this, if they don't have a plate or other stabilizing tech. Most shoes work to 500km before they feel "wore out" for me. Which I can accept. Adios 6 torsion system is AMAZING for me. Mizuno Waverider 25 foam/waveplate combo also serving me very well.
My Rincon 2s are going and going. Outsole pretty worn though. I'm hesitant using speed 2 as a daily. Save it for long runs /speed work. For me it lacks stability needed for a daily.
Absolutely perfect timing, I just ordered some V3 Rincon’s in a wide fit today! I’m a relatively light runner so great to see durability is fine. Useful video to answer all the questions on this show. Thanks 👍
I've just ordered some in a wide fit today too (about an hour before seeing this review). It's probably worth mentioning in the review that hoka offer a 30 trial on the shores as not many companies do that! I tried out the Mach 4 but didn't get on with the squishy top of the midsole and found them slightly narrow but hoka refunded as promised, so it's great to try shoes out for a while, I just hope they recycle them some how and don't waste them.
@@CSRunner7 yes, it's great finding out that some manufacturers offer wide options. Some only offer it in certain countries, so it's always worth doing some googling. The 30 day trial is only if you buy direct from hoka btw.
Well timed review, one just ordered a pair. My fear is that I do tend to prefer the squash and spring of a nitro foam but these seem to do well in reviews, are available in a wide fit and have a 30 day trial so excited to give them a try. I found the Mach 4 slightly too narrow and didn't enjoy the top layer of midsole. I hear some of their new trail shoes have flipped the script and put the nitro foam on the bottom instead and it works well.
@@TheRunTesters Had to send them back. I get an issue, only with hoka shoes where the bend point for the shoe pinches the ball out my feet. Assumed it was the soft top of the Mach 4 causing it but also happened with these. Enjoyed the fit apart from that though. The midsole felt a bit dull but the fit was fantastic, best of any shoe I've tried. Had to go up half a size.
What was the third shoe you said near the end that might be a better option? I caught the saucony, adidas and Mach 4 but missed the other. Thanks for putting in the work for this review!
Only had version one and really didn’t like them at all. Felt like running on cardboard but did take them up to 400 miles. They actually got softer after 300 miles but I am one of the few that wouldn’t buy another pair unless there was a dramatic change to them. Foam from this century may help.
Still reluctant after losing 3 toenails in the Clifton 7 to try a Hoka again. The last/shape of the footbed just chops off by the toes in an unnatural shape that I've never had in any other shoe. After 3 months the toenails grew back, but probably hard pass on Hoka
Great review, I am at 250km with my v1 and so far it is still holding up well. Yes the outsole is a bit chewed up on the exposed foam but the foam still has some good pop to it. I use them mainly for faster days.
Hi, could these be used as an alternative to a stability shoe? I’m not getting on with some Kayano 28s and I feel like moving away to a cushioned shoe rather than a stability shoe
What about cross country race? I am looking for light shoes with good grip on small sandy areas and dry compacted soil ( races is around the lake ) looking for racing fast shoes
There was someone who ran a full marathon on wooden clogs and his time was less than 4 hours. Any shoe can be used for marathon. Some are better, some not so good. Rincon can definitely do marathons but maybe the elites would choose something else because they can..
Interesting to hear that David. That's not a huge amount of heavier than Kieran. Seems people have quite mixed experiences with the foam holding its cushioning.
Hi Richard, (Kieran here) the video is not necessarily an accurate representation of running form here. Form somewhat changes when you're handling a camera on a stick to get the shot.
The durability of the Rincon 3 is absolutely fine. I've got 900km with a bit more to go before they're done.
Thats way too little durability for a marginally expensive sneaker.
@@Albertojedi How much would you like?

Love my Rincons. The 3s are approaching 200km for me, and the goods. I’m not overly fussed on durability; my road shoes are gone after 500km anyway.
Nice. They're certainly doing as good of a shift as other shoes for us too.

Thanks for another great video review. My Rincon 2 have done 321 miles and still feel really good, UK10, will certainly go above 400 miles and beyond
Glad you enjoyed it Steve and that the shoes are holding up nicely.
Short & sweet clear review as always. Thanks buddy
Glad you found it useful.
got them last month on special for a €100 and I'm very happy with them!
I’m sold on this shoe based on the improvement in durability. That’s the exact color I want to get.

800km on my first pair, 1200 km on my second pair, they feel fast and balanced, especially when you’re midfoot lander.

Guys I just spotted you here in Bilbao, in my hometown! Are you running tomorrow’s marathon? Enjoy your time here, sorry about the weather 😅
We are running tomorrow yep! Haha weather is changing a lot, but we’re used to that in the UK, enjoying the city! Are you running tomorrow?

REally helpful. Thanks so much.
totally smashed mine after 600km so it's not REALLY durable but still did a good job. also, i live in a warm (30C) country
Some people have said they fare less well in warmer climes. We're not that blessed here in the UK!! 😂
Awesome review. Any suggestion for marathon shoes? What about alternatives that are a bit more durable?
Isnt the outsole a rubberized EVA like the Clifton Edge?
For long easy runs with some strides at the end, would you recommend Rincon3 or the New Rebel v4?
Dear Sir. I am slow runner. I want to finish my first marathon within 6 hours without injury . Would you recommend Rincon3 for my first marathon race?
No chance those have 200miles. I’ve got 60 miles on mine and the rubber is going bald and the foam is flaky. We weigh the same too
Well maybe you’re just doing it wrong Dave.
Is the outsole rubber peeling? This happens very often.
What about cross country race? I am looking for light shoes with good grip on small sandy areas and dry compacted soil ( races is around the lake ) looking for racing fast shoes
Never understand shoe reviews where they don’t clean the shoes.
What shoe do you recommend for slow runing and training for 200$ max
Zoom x invincible
Saucony Triumph 19
To chuck a few more in the mix Nike Infinity React, Hoka Mach 4, Saucony Ride 14.
So what are the other better shoes for the long run then?
question? I ran two marathons in my clifton 9 and they were fine. However i was curious why you don't think the rincon is a marathon runner?
There was someone who ran a full marathon on wooden clogs and his time was less than 4 hours. Any shoe can be used for marathon. Some are better, some not so good. Rincon can definitely do marathons but maybe the elites would choose something else because they can..
Is Nick still working on a long term durability test for the Mach 4?
I lost the cussion after approximately 200km, I'm 88-85kg of weight with US size 12D.
Interesting to hear that David. That's not a huge amount of heavier than Kieran. Seems people have quite mixed experiences with the foam holding its cushioning.
Rincon 3?
Had 2 pairs of Hokas both came appart
Because you're a very destructive person
The midsole softness and durability is a lot worse in hot weather though...
thats right.. my outsole was gone after 100km
How hot are we talking? We're in the UK and have tested through winter.
love it thank you!
Glad you like it!
Why the 2 different socks?
They’re actually a pair. Just the design. And one got washed with something red so it’s gone a bit pink 😂. Check out Brav socks.
I also wear different socks and, as a matter of fact, different shoe color way on each foot sometimes! 💪
Interesting. I don't have the Rincon but the Mach 4 has not had the best durability for me.
Hi Grant, what came up short?
Seems like the only place I’ve seen wide width available online is on Hokas site? Is that true?
Think that's the case Michael
@@TheRunTesters interesting wonder if that’s a new sales strategy we’ll see more often.

Ha ha, we do our best!
No need to apologise for not using non-SI units. You would have done a disservice to those who chose not to use SI units by pandering to them.
We’re based in the UK where we pick and choose. Like we’re 5 foot 11 but 83kgs. We run 26.2 miles but that turn left in 200m on the Sat nav.
The video shows you as being a heel striker.

Great review...but strange to watch a clean looking guy holding a very very filthy trainer with even poo on the botton of the shoe in the camera...
It’s just mud.
