I went to a decent public school and one of my classes, my speech class, taught me skills I still use today as an adult. My teacher taught us how to nail a job interview, how to write a good resume, how to speak confidently in a professional environment, how to do a proper handshake, how to work in a group, and much more. The skills I learned in that class allowed me to get good jobs, meet new people with confidence, network with others, leave a lasting positive impression in a professional environment with something as simple as a proper handshake. We learned a handshake tells a lot about you to another person, especially someone meeting you for the first time. In an interview that is doubly important and I can't tell you the number of compliments I've gotten just from my handshake alone. My point is, THAT'S the type of thing schools should teach. Skills that will carry you as an adult. How to do taxes, how to keep good credit, how to write and build a good resume, how to get and pay a mortgage, how to invest, management, balancing your finances, learning how a business works, etc...Heck even parenting classes should be taught in school. I was blessed to have a good teacher willing to teach us such useful lifelong skills.
