    If all the injectors fired at the same time wouldn't the injector be firing with the exhaust valves open?

  • @mikethacker8558
    @mikethacker8558 2 роки тому

    Only one side or 4 injectors fire at the same time. Since the injectors are at the inlet ports, the the 24lb injector may cause a rich condition if the computer doesn't't adjust the duration.

    Good afternoon. I replaced my 85 iroc-z injectors with the same 19lb injectors off Amazon that were 50 bucks. The car has trouble starting if hadn't cranked in a day or so. Then when it gets hot it starts to surge. Did you have this problem with these injectors? Thanks

    • @CamaroFamily
      @CamaroFamily  Рік тому

      I didn’t have any running problems with mine. Why did you replace your injectors? Did it run fine before replacing the injectors? Did you replace anything else?

    What's the part number for the fuel injectors? All I find are the big ones.

    • @CamaroFamily

      The numbers on the new Bosch injectors are F6VE-A5A. I’ll have to put that in the video description. 👍

      @@AustinHarmon1994 You’re welcome! Thanks for watching our video. We just want to get good information out there. I saw a lot of bad (and incomplete) videos before I was driven to start doing tech videos. Manufacturers have been paying me to do this (for them) for the last 10 years. It was about time to do it for the community. 😉👊

    Thanks for posting! These videos are a huge help. What brand of injectors did you use? Bosch? I have done a lot of reading and it seems lots of folks recommend Bosch III 19#. However, I happened to come across a thread recently that suggested those aren't a direct replacement without tuning. My car is a stock 1989 LB9 305 IROC.

      Hey Crock of Shirt, Thanks for your message! I appreciate you watching my boring, but hopefully helpful video. It seems to be helping more people all the time. Honestly, I NEVER do this, but I really cheaped out on the fuel injectors. I bought them from eBay for about $70 and took a chance, I assume that I will be installing an LS in the future, so I didn’t want to go crazy with installing GM original injectors $$$. I found a seller that had sold more than 100 sets of them (in the hopes that if they didn’t fit/work, they would not sell so many). These were a direct replacement on their fitment chart. I didn’t have to tune anything. It passed smog very clean, so I know they didn’t require any tuning. Maybe if you installed them on a smarter/newer vehicle them might, but these old batch-fire systems are pretty rudimentary. I would definitely do the same thing on the next TPI I rebuild. -Tony

    Doing this myself right now, can I ask, when you install the new o rings on the fuel rail, is the supposed to be any movement on the tubes after tightening the screws down ? Mine has a little play in it...

    • @CamaroFamily
      @CamaroFamily  3 роки тому +1

      Chris M, sorry for the late response, I didn’t see your message. After tightening the retainers, you should be able to articulate the tubes slightly to get the rails lined up for installing on the intake manifold. You described your movement as “play”, which concerns me. I took mine apart because the O-rings were too small (wrong size installed by a previous repair job) and fuel was spraying out of the O-rings. It was probably leaking slightly for a while before I purchased the car, but one day it really started spraying. It was very dangerous. If you can easily rotate/roll (like a pencil between your thumb and index finger) the transfer tubes with 2 fingers after installing them, you have the wrong O-rings.

    • @CPMest81
      @CPMest81 3 роки тому +1

      @@CamaroFamily that's ok. It was just a bit of movement, it wasn't there when I pulled the rail off but I'm guessing that was because it had probably never been pulled apart before and had become a bit stiff. Once I installed it though it was all good, nice and tight.
