Agreed - I heard him live several times since his VERY powerful axe of a voice in the late 80's, through it mellowing more and more like a fine wine - I've always deemed him worthy of fronting a band for his voice alone - the fact that he's an awesome, mould-breaking guitar God is just the icing on the cake.
Wowser! Even for Eric, THIS is something special. I've heard hundreds of these Sheriff performances, but this one is about the stuff he DOESN'T play, as much as what he does - time and again, I'd guess he's going high&loud, and he backs-off with something unexpected, subtle and original. We need to keep Eric in the deep-freeze, and thaw him out to play in every new century.
Don't do it guys.Don't compare artists like Clapton and Jimi and SRV.They are all unique in their own way,is what i think. And in my opinion,SRV is awesome, but if it wasn't for Hendrix,he wouldn't have been the person/musician he was.
When Hendrix came over from America one of the main reasons was that he wanted to meet and play with Clapton. Let's not forget that Part! That's how influential Clapton is...
custom strat. Painted by John Crash. Clapton had three of them, now he only has two, he sold the third at the Crossroads 2004 festival after he played it :)
I read his whole fucking Autobiography. Born in Ripley, England, he was never racist. In fact, he had black members in his first band, which many people took a disliking to, but he found nothing wrong with it. He was never racist.
yup, i have more but from another night in osaka. Once i have enough time (probably not until next next weekend because i have midterms), i'll upload some more chunks from that. they arne't as clear as this one though, as it was shot in a different angle.
I see your photo of Hendrix - I never did get down with Jimmi's stuff - to me it's too unfocussed, never really resolves itself much of the time. I have a CD of him playing at the Albert Hall in London - I put on "Little Wing", and played along in the style of Stevie. When I'd done, my wife said "Who's that on the CD? You played him off the page!" To me, Stevie came along and polished and perfected what Jimmi had played, he was the Master, and equal to Eric.
nah this was 2003. after this year, he replaced the band with new people (except for the keyboard player). He picked up doyle in 2004. this current guitarist is andy.
Shit 12-13years old comments on this one that i’ve never seen before… Am i the only one to spot a weak beat at 5:23 and back on at 5:32? 🥸 Clapton is God.
Search 'Eric Clapton Racist Guardian' and find what he said. Yes, it was a drunken rant at a concert, so you might think that it was ok... Then he did an interview with Uncut Magazine and stood by his words. No, he wasn't drunk again and he didn't deny what he said at the gig. However, it is odd that many musicians who he works with are black after considering the above. I'm no fool for thinking someone is racist for the hurtful things he said.
Well clearly the hundreds of black artists who Eric has worked with don't think he's "racist". It would also be very strange if Eric was racist given that all of his favourite bluesmen were black - Robert Johnson, Freddie King etc. BB King - a Mississippi man who understands racial oppression better than most - famously said that he has 'never met a better man or a more gracious man, than Eric Clapton'. Funny thing for him to say given that Eric is supposedly "racist" eh? You are a fool.
This is with A LOT FEELING, diferent to other versions..... Chapeau!
Hell yeah this song wants me to do some cowboy shit.
@@jordymares6758 Awesome.... I´d rather be in Cowboyland :)
I can watch guitarists jamming all day, but as soon as I see Clapton get his pick on those strings, the chills go up my spine.
That guitar is a work of art..
I have watched and listened to hundreds off Eric's live performances, and he Still amazes me.
I love love love how he sang the lyrics in this rendition. What a great man!
My lord this is such an amazing version...the band is ON FIRE.

Correction. Bob Marley wrote it, Clapton murdered it.
