Our journey through the Rhythm & Movement idents of BBC One continues! This time we're heading on over to the Basketball court, to witness three players showcase their skills and their dance moves! So join me as we take a look, at Hip-Hop!
The Ident Review Extra began in the April of 2020 and embarks on marathons of several different ident sets from different channels! It's covered the 90s set from BBC2 and all of the different ITV regions, but now we're going through the Rhythm & Movement idents from BBC One!

YAY for wheelchair representation! I'm not from the UK but the first time I saw it, my jaw dropped. Being a wheelchair user myself, idents with people like me speak to my heart in a really sweet way. Awesome video, Adam.

Yesss, still one of the few times a back-wheel balance was shown on TV. I’m still miffed it took me years to realise daily-use rigid chairs can do that too, not just basketball chairs. I love wheelchair dancing!

The way that wheelchair users are represented here is absolutely fantastic.
Personally the best ident from Rhythm and Movement.
This ident incapsulates exactly what the rhythm and movement set Is about! Real people taking part in a real sport.
BBC One Hip-Hop is a cool ident, and was a Hip-Hop spoof ident as well which was Brain Potter as Peter Kay for the BBC Comic Relief in 2005.
Had been wondering if that middle guy was indeed the one I've seen in various documatry shows. Glad to know I was right.

The wheelchairs always look so weird to me, the way the have like a little handle bar in the front and how the wheels are angled. Instead of regular straight wheels with more of a chair looking wheelchair. Maybe it's because I'm not from the UK? They just look weird
Don’t quote me on it I think they’re called “active wheelchairs” they’re more for sport or when you need to change direction quick. A marvellous piece of kit
These are basketball chairs, also often used for tennis and dance. The camber to the wheels is for extra stability while turning and leaning, and the bars going around the foot rest on the front is to ensure that you don’t injure yourself if you run into a wall or another person! They also help prevent tipping, since you’re reaching a lot more in sports like that
@@joshuaaaron125 an active user wheelchair is built very similarly, but is more for daily use. They may have straight wheels, or a subtler camber than a specialised sports chair, though they can often be used for sports if that’s your only option, and are just fine for running outside in :) but people who are serious about sport usually get a dance/basketball chair for sports times, even though they’re less comfortable.
