Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I'm more of a parts changer than a mechanic. While trying to wrangle the connectors apart 6 inches away the wires conduit about came apart. Upon inspection saw a broke wire. Checked the sensor like you did with an ohm meter without having to remove sensor. Showed resistance. Repaired wires. Disconnected and reconnected battery. Test drove. Eureka! Speedometer works, no check engine, or parking brake light. Thanks again Jay Gould. You are an outstanding intructor by the way.
This is one of the best do it yourself video I’ve ever seen. Very detail and straight to the point. Not a lot of long drawn out introduction but straight to the point.
I agree with everyone else--this was a GREAT video. If I had a dollar for every time I watched a video trying to learn how to do something, and heard "next, unplug the sensor. Then, go ahead and___..." meanwhile I end up spending 20 minutes reaching through a tight space, fighting with the damn sensor because I am not clear on how the clip operates and I am trying not to break anything. And inevitably I will end up injuring myself or breaking the clip, and then I might have to spend a bunch more time find a replacement harness or whatever and wait for it to arrive.
Thanks Jay! I just picked up a pristine '99 2500 Cummins shortbed quad cab and the ABS/Brake light were on- Went to auto parts store, picked up the sensor, removed the old sensor, popped in the new and WA-LAA ! This is one one of the CLEAREST and well made "how to" videos I've ever watched. Great job and Thanks again!!!
I've have watches a few different videos on this subject so far and none of them were very helpful. This is BY FAR, the best, most informative video I've seen, and I dont need to watch anymore after this. The other videos showed how to remove the first nut and then the bolt, and that's it... I was more interested in seeing how to remove the old sensor without destroying anything else. This was a perfect video for that. My 06 ram 1500 has been constantly flashing the abs and brake light at me(I'm talking 20 times a minute) and dings everytime. Sometimes the lights will stay on but when that happens, my cruise control no longer works and the same goes for my 4 wheel drive on the fly shifting. New sensor is coming today and I was hoping to go out and get the old sensor off before it gets here. Thank you for not only taking the time to make the video, but to be so thorough too.
Thanks for posting this video. I fixed my wife’s 1998 Ram SST in less than a half hour. It took longer to get the spare tire in and out than to swap out the sensor!
Man my speedometer isnt working at all either on my 1999, ima try this tomorrow! I pray to god it fixes my problem, the RPMs works and reads but not the MPHs Also weird out of nowhere I can't go over 75mph, I mean I can but it hesitates idk I hope this fixes my problem Thank you man !
Thank you very much for this great video Jay. It has saved me a lot of time and effort and caught a mistake by the parts store when the tried to sell me a sensor without the needed wiring harness. Very much appreciated!
Mine was very difficult to get off and on..had to rubber hammer it no joke to go in. It did fix my speedometer bit my brake light and abs are still on. What else could it be? Replace breaks and rotors because I know they are trash too and also brake reservoir empty but when I fill does not fix the brake lights or abs. Help
My 02 dodge cargo van has the abs and brake light on all the time(my speedometer works) I get 1.81 resistance on sensor.wiring is good. Fluid is good.Brake pads are new.Brakes fine.Fuses are good.no leaks around calipers. My scanner can't read its abs module. Is there anything else I can test? I'm just out of ideas. Any suggestions anyone?? I'm getting really fustrated with this thing.
have a 2001 Dakota 4x4 , the door bell starts chiming when I put it in gear and start rolling, when I stop at a stop light it stops. The headlights are also flashing, interior lights and wipers come on intermittently, anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?? Thanks
Is there a reason the replacement is backwards and does anyone make them the right way so I dont have to order an extention, thanks for some very informative videos
Great and detailed video, nice work. I do have a question, I have identical symptom on my 1999 Ram 5.9L Magnum 4x4 but the error code is P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor. Would you say it’s the same sensor on the rear differential as in your video causing this issue? Thx.
UGH! I was following along nicely until 3:21, then mine snapped off, clean as a whistle. The only thing remaining (Completely unreachable) in the Sensor hole is the plastic sensor cap. I thought about going in from inside, but the gears would be in the way. So, I will be digging it out from up top tomorrow morning. Not looking forward to this project.

Thank you for talking about how to remove the different clips and such. Many other people completely skip that part
about the most clear and easy to follow car "how to repair vid" I've seen. nice job
Now that's how you make a good, helpful video

Your camera work is some of the best I’ve seen on UA-cam and helping out like installing and uninstalling something. Thank you.
Thanks for posting this video. I fixed my wife’s 1998 Ram SST in less than a half hour. It took longer to get the spare tire in and out than to swap out the sensor!
Like James Baker stated, I too have watched a few different videos on this matter and this one by far the most informative. Thank you so much Jay
Sir, thank you for being straight and to the point! Wonderful video!!!
That was the MOST informative and detailed video I believe I have ever watched !
Just had this issue pop up and your video told me everything I needed to know. Thank you so much.
great vid! perfect lighting and camera angle! thanks for showing socket sizes too
Man my speedometer isnt working at all either on my 1999, ima try this tomorrow! I pray to god it fixes my problem, the RPMs works and reads but not the MPHs
Also weird out of nowhere I can't go over 75mph, I mean I can but it hesitates idk I hope this fixes my problem
Thank you man !
Great informative video that's straight to the point, clearly explained and awesome visibility!
I know this is an old post but great video and it helped me replace my sensor, no lights.
Outstanding Video on replacing this sensor! It gave me absolute confidence toward replacing mine on my Dodge 3500 Cummins!!!👍🏿
Very clear and to the point. Great help on the rear-end speed amateur sensor
This is an excellent video! Exactly what I needed to diagnose and repair an issue I have on my identical truck.
Super appreciate this video, they’ve apparently learned because mine came with a modified guard already on it.
Thanks! Always had these codes pop up on a random day and always wondered if it was severe turns out it was a $15 sensor
Awesome video thank you just fixed my 98 Dodge Ram 1500.
Thank you very much for this great video Jay. It has saved me a lot of time and effort and caught a mistake by the parts store when the tried to sell me a sensor without the needed wiring harness. Very much appreciated!
excellent video, including how to test if the sensor is bad 👌 I am going to try this in my Ram Charger 2000, it is the same platform as 1500
Great video! Very detailed and informative. Thank you.
Thanks!
Anyone have any info on the bolt that hold the sensor on? My truck is missing the bolt and i cant find a part number or size/thread specs anywhere.
Very good video. other videos have to lecture you on all kinds of other stuff , like how this one gets right to it
If these wheel speed sensors are bad can it cause transmission shifting issues after replacing the output shaft sensor
Help
I changed out the sensor and the brake and abs light is still on. What’s next?
Did you change the sensor on the transmission? I had to change that one also.
Did you do what jay said? changed mine & no chsnge also
THANKS FOR VIDEO .....THIS SAVED ME HUNDREDS OF DOL;AARS FOR ME TO DO IT ...
Bonjour je voudrai savoir si vous avez un lien pour le boîtier ODB merci
So my speedometer isn't going past 10mph but I have no lights what so ever, is it still my sensor or my cluster?😊
Thank you for the Greatly explained video!
My light is on has been for years.
What really concerns me is that there are no error codes!!
Wiring appears to be in place.
Any thoughts???
Thank you for the info. It helped tremendously for me with my 02 quad cab.
I have a 99, and I get the same lights, ABD and Brake, but not the Check Engine light. Will this be the same problem still?
My 02 dodge cargo van has the abs and brake light on all the time(my speedometer works)
I get 1.81 resistance on sensor.wiring is good.
Have you tested the transmission output speed sensor?
@@WilliamFrawley
Not yet.
I didn't think that would cause my abs and brake light on all the time.
I have the same problem I did replace Tran output sensor and speed sensor to no avail☹️ and pointers?
have a 2001 Dakota 4x4 , the door bell starts chiming when I put it in gear and start rolling, when I stop at a stop light it stops. The headlights are also flashing, interior lights and wipers come on intermittently, anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?? Thanks
Where did you get the part from because the ones I keep getting aren’t fitting
Rockauto.com

Thank you. Excellent. Appreciate your helpful video.
I have abs and brake lights also plus my pedal goes to the floor did your pedal go to the floor thank you
No, mine didn't. That sounds like low on brake fluid.
Why did they change the mounting Sensor
Top shelf Sir!
Thanks
Is there a reason the replacement is backwards and does anyone make them the right way so I dont have to order an extention, thanks for some very informative videos
glad i found this this is what mines doing
I had the same problem in a 2004 ram. Speedo would start at about 20. After replacing the sensor, speedo doesn't come on at all. Any ideas
possibly a fuse?
There is also a sensor on the rear of the transmission, this can be checked with an ohm meter
I had the same problem with my 1998 Dodge 1500 a few years ago, replaced it with a Dorman part# 970-024
Mine does the same thing and also the seat belt light comes on? 😏 I need help
Man you really helped me out thank you
I did all this and still had the lights any help ????
Have you checked the Transmission Output Speed Sensor? You might have to replace it also. ua-cam.com/video/l52jwNHDfR4/v-deo.html
It was my abs sensor falling

Yes, I think it would be the same sensor
Well explained thank you.
