First you need to go the gym. Then you can spend money on clothes. If you are fit you can even wear a tshirt and it will look good, and if you aren’t nothing will look good on you.
I'm a major fan of Henleys, polos and T's (traditional collar and V neck). I only have 1 Cuban Collar shirt, which is a bit of a crime..not a fan of flannels at all. I don't wear too many long sleeve dress shirts anymore. Regardless of what you wear, wear with confidence. Own it. Remember that fit is king. You wear the shirt, the shirt doesn't wear you.
flannels are great, but recently i'm really getting into neutral tone flannels. The brown and cream flannels are really in style right now and look so cool and vintage

Tattoos are a tell that your personality is media-ted by the current Groupthink, and that you are not a serious, elevated person. Forward evolving males, Spiral Dynamics 2nd-tier thinkers, zeta and theta personalities don't do ink.
Cuban collars are forbidden here in Italy. We only wear button down shirts with long sleeves and no pockets! I like those as simple as possible and prefer tailored ones. Usually they sew my initial on the fron part too

When I was married I bought some clothes for my wife. She was not a shopper and she appreciated what I decided upon. I was happy to look at her in what I bought and what I liked.

As a men's clothing designer I've most often observed that women have better looking clothing than men. Well I've began changing this. I wear the outfits first before I consider selling them. The compliments I've received are numerous to say the least and by such is where make my choices on which to consider producing in quantity. At the present time in my opinion, China has the best clothing designers for men. American clothing isn't very appealing in my opinion. Majority of men have terrible taste in fashion here in the U.S.
I tailor my own, try to keep my selections as classic as I can, and keep my t shirts as personal and also patriotic as I can. I also don't like that the fashion industry appeals to all sizes of women but only appeals to skinny men and fat men instead of muscular guys like me that don't skip leg day, whom also rows more than I bench and pulls more than I press overhead. V taper? No, X taper. Capital X lol

I have to shorten my trousers and some long sleeve shirts. It's interesting having a small waist while having large quads because my boxer briefs will definitely not keep at the bottom but they will retain shape around my belly

A standard white dress shirt works wonders. I've worn it with blue or black jeans, blazers or leather jackets and with different boots or shoes. I can wear most things I have based on one shirt type.
When working I wear polo shirts some of my colleagues wear t-shirts it dose not matter when we are in office or working from home and on video confrence calls
Hello, just a minor correction. The only thing that makes a shirt an oxford shirt is the material used, oxford cloth. You can have a dress shirt with a button down collar in any material, the "button down" is simply the style of the collar. Button down collars are the most casual, except for maybe a no-collar/band collar shirt, so they compliment the casual nature of an Oxford shirt. This means you can have a no-collar oxford (more casual than Oxford button down) or a regular collar oxford (unorthodox), as well as a button-down dress shirt (again, unorthodox). As far as basics, the Oxford button down is the way to go!

You're right, Oxford does actually refer to the fabric and not the style, but she did call it an "Oxford button down" and clearly she's referring specifically to the OCBD. I don't really see any error here.

Courtney you have a lot of video space to the left and right of you. Have you thought about overlaying the images into the same frame instead of switching frames when showing the shirts. It would be more engaging and interactive while watching and will keep the focus of your audience. Was shirt shipping yesterday and wish I watched this before haha
I agree with you courtney with the flanel shirt and a white t shirt. Thats a very nice layering piece at least it used to be. The hipsters took it over and now all i think about when i wear it is that i look like a hipster. Thats why your now wrong. Why couldnt they left that style alone?
The Cuban collar shirt reminds me of Charlie Harper from Two and a Half Men. I do not know where he gets those shirts from but it is a very classic and casual shirt that works with denim and khakis.
Great video! Could you make one for actual hot weather? We're currently at 41⁰C where I live. It's an everlasting battle between staying cool and not getting sunburn. Little room for style.
Can't tell you how much I despise polo shirts. I'm pretty sure I have some PTSD from growing up in the 1980's and having to see everyone wearing the double and triple popped collars and the gross pastel colors.
Great job Courtney. I have every single one of those shirts. I now am more advanced and wear Colorado styles in Texas. For example I wear the Mulina material (old fashioned cowboy blanket material) jacket indoors at work. Also V-Necks that are grey and black and the new black vested suit top.
White and Black match with anything which is good. As I've gotten older, I've enjoyed wearing more black as I used to wear more white when I was a younger. Soon, I will have to do some shopping and I always enjoy wearing colorful clothes but I'm not into the Cuban collars
If you’re not wearing dress shirts as often. Make sure you have a lint roller. Literally with my white dress shirt I rolled off so much dust because I haven’t worn it in months
Lint rollers will destroy the fabric, what you should do is go to a shoe store and find a horse hair brush and use that instead because it will remove the pilling without damaging the fabric itself. I keep one in my travel bag, one in my car, and one by my front door
Different women like different types of fashions. Had some women wanted me in suits and some wanted me in damage jeans. Others wanted me in boots while others hated them. However, I learnt to be flexible and I find different styles working for me. Same with my hair. Some wanted dread locks, some was against it. I am 27 years now. But I am preparing and learning to be a father and a husband in a near future once I get a woman to marry. So I gave up on damages and other clothes to be what my children would see fit as the representative of their father as well as a husband. By being flexible it will I can blend in anywhere. Now I am focused on my goals and vision. Women ain’t a thing on my mind. I want to make a family.
You really know your stuff, but i'd add a few more suggestions like these Plain white long sleeve t-shirt Double Pocket Button shirt Short sleeve button shirt (any plain colour but printed shirts are cool too) Long sleeve polo shirt (not just the short sleeve) Knitted henley shirt Khaki/brown/green button shirts (those neutral tones are great, but look better with pockets) Vertical striped button shirt Flannel shirts (always a classic, but the alternative is plaid/tartan which is same pattern different material) Horizontal striped polo shirts (this has to colour match the outfit though and a lot can be ugly, choose wisely)
Kudos to differentiating between dress shirts, button downs, and camp collar shirts. A lot of guys seem to see a shirt that fully buttons and assume it's a dress shirt. Button downs are my usual choice as they're the most versatile and you can find more interesting patterns and other designs than on a polo. I do appreciate how much easier it is to keep a dress shirt tucked when I want a cleaner look though.
I'm not a fan of the Cuban collar shirt because I think it's too casual. A regular polo can accomplish the same thing and looks better in general, in my opinion.
Number one: I didn't know there was a Cuban collar shirt. I am Cuban American - lol 😆. Number two: I personally prefer a dress shirt with point collars. I find this classier than a spread collar. That's just me.
I have to disagree with you about white. I have a heavier build and don't feel like I look very good in white. I stick with darker colors, black, grey, blue, and green mostly.

A misconception that a lot of people have with “Oxford button downs” is that they think the term “Oxford” refers to a style of shirt. It actually just refers to the fabric known as Oxford cloth. You can actually have a casual button-down shirt with a button collar made from a variety of fabrics and/or materials, such as chambray, linen, seersucker, etc., but you can even come across button-down dress shirts with point collars that are made from Oxford cloth too. So again, not a style of shirt, but a fabric.

I guess it would depend on culture because not all black women like the baggy look or the athletic/ atleisure look, as some of them like the refined look and these listed here are definitely more of a modern yet classic style for men. Classic menswear is a button-up shirt with a coat and trousers, everything else is more modern and casual. Kyle the Style (we call him) is a black man from the Gentleman's Gazette and he definitely dresses a little more casual but I guess they also call that a preppy look ?

It's kinda funny how alot of these clips say you should basically wear as basic clothes as possible and they have to look clean and nice but most of my friends who dress up just like that always talk about how they struggle communicating or even having a women eye balling them, me on the other hand (a metalhead and 80's glam rock fanatic) dress up in ripped jeans, boots, dirty handed down leatherjacket leatherjacket and a jeans vest with band patches, i basically look like I'm a hangover drug addict and girls be coming up to me and say I have a cool style and etc, what my point is I'm very confused
I have to slightly disagree with you on the oxford/dress shirt topic. Oxford is not a type of shirt, but rather, it's a type of cloth, and yes, is typically seen as a button down collar. There are dress shirts, however, that do have button down collars and can sometimes look better that dress shirts without them. Specifically, button down collar dress shirts made of pinpoint cotton, which has a higher thread count than oxford cloth, can look sharp with the correct suit, style of tie, and the tie knot. Upper body type, mainly the neck, also plays a role in determining whether a pinpoint button down will work. It's definitely not for everyone.
I like my Beer Me saint Patrick day t shirt. It shows the real me. Not a drunk but I do love my beer. I want a woman who isn't anal about what a guy wears.

For example I never know what to put over a polo, as I have only crew neck sweaters and it just doesn't look good with that collar underneath popping out. Say I put on a polo in the office for summer but in the morning it's quite chilly and I want to put something over it. What can I use that looks good? Also, as I work in an office (it's not super formal, but also not super casual), I was wondering if you have any tips on how often I can wear my clothes? Would be cool to have a short video on this (especially getting an opinion of a woman on this I think could interest many men). I usually always wear the same white sneakers every day. Would you recommend switching between 2 pairs a week? Also, I change my T-shirt or polo shirt every day, but sweater I wear mostly 2 days and trousers (jeans or chinos) 2 sometimes 3 days a week. V-neck sweaters would be natural to layer over a polo. I try to avoid getting crew-neck sweaters now because it's harder to layer with them. A cardigan is also another classic option. A less classic but smart casual choice would be an unstructured/lightly structured sport coat. Not something you'd wear to a place expecting suits mind you. Otherwise, take your pick of light jacket, e.g. a Harrington or similar weight item.

I usually dry clean my shirts as well , nothing worse than showing up on a date or a business meeting with bacon neck smh 🤦♂️

I have to shorten my trousers and some long sleeve shirts. It's interesting having a small waist while having large quads because my boxer briefs will definitely not keep at the bottom but they will retain shape around my belly

A standard white dress shirt works wonders. I've worn it with blue or black jeans, blazers or leather jackets and with different boots or shoes. I can wear most things I have based on one shirt type.

Hello, just a minor correction. The only thing that makes a shirt an oxford shirt is the material used, oxford cloth. You can have a dress shirt with a button down collar in any material, the "button down" is simply the style of the collar. Button down collars are the most casual, except for maybe a no-collar/band collar shirt, so they compliment the casual nature of an Oxford shirt.
This means you can have a no-collar oxford (more casual than Oxford button down) or a regular collar oxford (unorthodox), as well as a button-down dress shirt (again, unorthodox). As far as basics, the Oxford button down is the way to go!

You're right, Oxford does actually refer to the fabric and not the style, but she did call it an "Oxford button down" and clearly she's referring specifically to the OCBD. I don't really see any error here.

Courtney you have a lot of video space to the left and right of you. Have you thought about overlaying the images into the same frame instead of switching frames when showing the shirts. The Cuban collar shirt reminds me of Charlie Harper from Two and a Half Men. I do not know where he gets those shirts from but it is a very classic and casual shirt that works with denim and khakis.

Can't tell you how much I despise polo shirts. I'm pretty sure I have some PTSD from growing up in the 1980's and having to see everyone wearing the double and triple popped collars and the gross pastel colors.

If you’re not wearing dress shirts as often. Make sure you have a lint roller. Literally with my white dress shirt I rolled off so much dust because I haven’t worn it in months
Lint rollers will destroy the fabric, what you should do is go to a shoe store and find a horse hair brush and use that instead because it will remove the pilling without damaging the fabric itself. I keep one in my travel bag, one in my car, and one by my front door
Different women like different types of fashions. Had some women wanted me in suits and some wanted me in damage jeans. Others wanted me in boots while others hated them. However, I learnt to be flexible and I find different styles working for me.
Same with my hair. Some wanted dread locks, some was against it.
I am 27 years now. But I am preparing and learning to be a father and a husband in a near future once I get a woman to marry. So I gave up on damages and other clothes to be what my children would see fit as the representative of their father as well as a husband.

Flannel shirts (always a classic, but the alternative is plaid/tartan which is same pattern different material)
Horizontal striped polo shirts (this has to colour match the outfit though and a lot can be ugly, choose wisely)

Kudos to differentiating between dress shirts, button downs, and camp collar shirts. A lot of guys seem to see a shirt that fully buttons and assume it's a dress shirt.
Button downs are my usual choice as they're the most versatile and you can find more interesting patterns and other designs than on a polo. I do appreciate how much easier it is to keep a dress shirt tucked when I want a cleaner look though.
I'm not a fan of the Cuban collar shirt because I think it's too casual. A regular polo can accomplish the same thing and looks better in general, in my opinion.

I guess it would depend on culture because not all black women like the baggy look or the athletic/ atleisure look, as some of them like the refined look and these listed here are definitely more of a modern yet classic style for men. Classic menswear is a button-up shirt with a coat and trousers, everything else is more modern and casual. Kyle the Style (we call him) is a black man from the Gentleman's Gazette and he definitely dresses a little more casual but I guess they also call that a preppy look ?

When I am Agent 47 for a con, women always complement me when I leave the hotel for the convention center. Black jacket/slacks, white shirt, red tie, silver tie clip, black socks/shoes, and sexy as fuck leather gloves.
Completely ignoring the fact that women HATE men telling them what to wear(her body, her choice, stop objectifying blah blah) , it’s so great and refreshing seeing women tell men what they should wear.

I have to slightly disagree with you on the oxford/dress shirt topic. Oxford is not a type of shirt, but rather, it's a type of cloth, and yes, is typically seen as a button down collar. There are dress shirts, however, that do have button down collars and can sometimes look better that dress shirts without them. Specifically, button down collar dress shirts made of pinpoint cotton, which has a higher thread count than oxford cloth, can look sharp with the correct suit, style of tie, and the tie knot. Upper body type, mainly the neck, also plays a role in determining whether a pinpoint button down will work. It's definitely not for everyone.

Hi Courtney, thank you for another great video! Really liked it. I was wondering, how can you layer those different collar shirts? For example I never know what to put over a polo, as I have only crew neck sweaters and it just doesn't look good with that collar underneath popping out. Say I put on a polo in the office for summer but in the morning it's quite chilly and I want to put something over it. What can I use that looks good?

V-neck sweaters would be natural to layer over a polo. I try to avoid getting crew-neck sweaters now because it's harder to layer with them.
A cardigan is also another classic option.
A less classic but smart casual choice would be an unstructured/lightly structured sport coat. Not something you'd wear to a place expecting suits mind you.
Otherwise, take your pick of light jacket, e.g. a Harrington or similar weight item.
