- Hi guys,
Been waiting to get this carbon hood (Seibon TS Style Carbon Hood) for the Type R and after getting a cracked one on my first delivery and having to wait another couple of weeks to get a new one shipped to me, I finally got it and installed it.
I didn't really do a full detail on how to install it on this video, but if you have any questions on the install please let me know in the comments below so I can answer some of them. (FYI not a professional)
Definitely want to get this hood and my fender pieces paint matched as soon as possible and get you guys an update!

Looks awesome bro!
Being that you’re from Jersey how is the hood when it snows? I’m in Connecticut we get a good amount of snow in the winter
Its beautiful bro
Do you think the carbon hood would work on base model civic
Thank you for posting.
sounds like pilot freight services delivered your hood huh..?
Hi my friend, hood looks amazing 👏
I want to get the same style , is hood scoop slightly raised on this one compared to oem one ? 😃
This hood scoop is bigger than oem.
Curious about the hood latch... do you need to install pins or can you just remove the stock hood latch and replace it into the CF hood?
Hey dude, sorry didn't see your message earlier. I have seen multiple Type R owners run the hood without any latches. Some even track their Type Rs without the latch. Although if you want peace of mind, then I would recommend getting latches.
Just get the filter wrap (water resistant)from Injen hydrosheild, AEM dryflow or K&N Dry charger, even pour water from outside, inside is still dry, no need to replace the intake plus it's keep dirt go into your filter
Thats a great idea. Going to look into it! Thanks
Do you have pictures after you painted the hood white???? I planning on doing the same thing and was wondering what it looks like.
Hey man. Damn ive been slacking making a follow up video but you can follow my Instagram for more content. @midarete
Did you use hood pins?
love your carbon hood from Montreal Canada, I got the same car n same color, considering
to install the same hood, so I'd like to know how much you paid for? thank you.
Thanks dude. The hood was about 1k
No paint match. Looks good 👍
Thanks man! I am still debating but will ultimately paint match it
Arent u afraid of water getting in eg raining
Hi Midarete
Can you please tell me where did you buy that bonnet & how long you receive it
You can really buy them on any sites, evasive, kamispeed, etc.
Was it an easy install
Is that real c. Fiber?
Would water leaking into the intake be a problem for the stock intake?
I doubt it will but safest bet is to drill something at the bottom for water to drain
Hey how did it go any water?
Are you close by Sesame Place in Levittown PA?
Im in north jersey!
Did you ever get it all to line up and minimize the excess gap on the one side?
Its not that noticable so I never even attempted to fix it. Besides I dont think you actually can adjust it
I honestly actually got it to aline kus it wouldn't latch without it..I just loosen all four bolts and kinda gave it a small push and tighten it it was fine
Hey man what do you do if it rains? Is it ok for the interior to get wet or no?
To be honest, I left it out in the rain more often than none. No issues at all. I do have a mishimoto intake instead of the injen intake now so the filter is enclosed. I did drill a few tiny holes at the bottom of the intake to drain out any water that does get in.
Looks Great! Just curious, how much less did the carbon weigh versus the OEM aluminum hood? It looks awesome but im most curious about weight saving lol
I actually didnt weigh the 2 hoods. I can tell the seibon hood feels lighter though, but not by much
Have you paint matched yet? Would love to see how that looks!
You know what. I did. I actually didn't have any motivation to make another video. Thanks to you I think I'll go record an update video tomorrow!
@@midarete That would be awesome. I am actually thinking about getting a seibon hood for my R and would like to subdue it by paint match most of it like you did.
@@Onemoreapex thats great to hear! If you have instagram you can follow me @midarete . I have photos there but will try to get a video tomorrow
Hey! I just installed mine but the hood won’t latch.. what can I do?
Hey, I never ran into this issue but I think you can just unloosen the latch and adjust it up so that the catch is higher.
was looking to do the same, but then the problem of rain and water inside the bonnet stopped me... I was not able to find a good solution to avoid it, hope you will found a good one..
My plan is to get a Mishimoto intake since it is covering the filter at the top. Then I will drill several small holes at the bottom of the box so in case water seeps in, the water will drain out. I will order it soon and make a video on that!
@@midarete i see
instead we made 6 minths test to develop a dual stage dual filter with different lenght air intake, so for the position they will be totally exposed to water drops, and cNnot close on thw top otherwise we would reduce the flow capability. In same weeks should be able to poat first videos..
looking forward to see yours :-)
Looks mint! So the outside is carbon but what about the inside of the hood. It looks like plastic, what is it made of?
Fiberglass
@@midarete ok mate thanks for the answer!
Hey is the hood full carbon fiber or is it just fiberglass wrapped in carbon fiber?
Full carbon fiber
What is the price for that? And where you got it? Thanks
I got it for about 1.1k from pristine auto.
I just got my ts seibon hood and mishimoto intake can i see where u drill at the bottom of ur intake?
Hey, I never took an actual picture of where I drilled. I do recall the intake plate on the bottom being slightly sloped. drill a small drain hole there
@@midarete do you still use the ts seibon hood when its raining? Have u ran to any issues with water getting inside engine bay? I have the hood but didnt install it yet
@@Mkylevitug Hey man, so actually since my S2000 has been taking up my time the Type R has been sitting out side for months now. When it rains it doesn't impact anything. Mishimoto intake is pretty sealed up so rain doesn't really cause any issues.
@@midarete how bout the other part of the engine bay? Its all good?
@@Mkylevitug no issues
Question does any one know if water would get inside
Water definitely gets inside but havent had any issues at all
Why paint match it? That hood looks sick just like that
Although full carbon looks nice, i preferred the cleaner look of paint matching it with exposed carbon vents
Could it fit a 2017 civic lx
No this will only fit fk8
I can’t get our gd hood to be even on the sides lol so frustrating
yea there was a slight gap on mine as well, it didn't bother me that much
@@midarete trying not to let it bother me 😆 OCD is kicking my ass. Also, your Video was a huge help man. Thanks 👊
What is the link?
Link for the hood? You can Google Seibon TS Style hood for the Type R and you should find it
How does it work with the rain??
Doesnt really matter. Only thing is I drilled a few small holes on the underneath of my mishimoto intake to drain any water
@@midarete can you make a video on that? I plan on getting the same hood for my civic sedan and don’t want my engine to mess up with the rain.
@@AnthonyGarcia-cb7co Honestly you can't see the holes on the intake unless I take it off. You can just remove the intake box and drill a few small holes on the bottom and that should cover that. I have driven the car in the rain when I had a short ram intake and it was totally fine. Ideal? Probably not.
You mention the back of the hood wasn’t carbon fiber or am I wrong cuz then there’s no point on spending the money for just looks. Metal body panels have an average of 80% weight saving ration to carbon fiber and aluminum has 50% less weight to carbon fiber.
How much weight does it save? Why would you buy a carbon hood then paint match it? Defeats the whole purpose of getting the damn thing in the first place.
KJ Wong People buy carbon fiber for weight reduction bro. Not always about aesthetics
The washer hoses was annoying to fit

Fluid line clip removal: “it’s quite simple really, just wiggle it out”. Took me an hour per clip 🥲
The struggle. Much easier with a clip pry tool
