- Criminally left out of the 2001 Special Edition DVD of "Elvis - That's The Way It Is", probably due to copyright reasons, this beautiful B.J. Thomas song deserves better recognition. So I edited it out of the 1970 original version of "TTWII" to share it with all Elvis Fans. Due to the poor sound on the above mentioned 1970 DVD I decided to take off the original audio and put instead a crystal clear version taken from a remastered CD, synchronized perfectly with the video film. I also took the liberty of including the rehearsal of the song and of Elvis worrying about forgetting the words, all taken from the same film. These precede the actual, almost faultless, performance. Do hope you like it. Enjoy.

You know I get in my car every day and put an elvis cd ,every day it's the same I cannot get over his voice,I feel like I'm hearing it for the first time, I still get that tingling feeling and every track I listen to it's my favourite till the next one comes on! Me too. I'm 52 and I remember living in Memphis as a kid. 3rd grade. 1977. I heard my momma scream in agony. I cried with her and held her hand. Loosing Elvis was such a tragedy.

I've not seen any Elvis stuff for a while and my memory of him kinda faded but I just watched this and instantly I remember why he was called the King .
I don't think anybody really truly realises how good this man was believe it or not but this is simple truth if anyone with intelligence would own up and just say it this man was brilliant on all accounts and no one will ever be better him and really he was underestimated he was better than you realise may his soul rest in peace thank You Elvis Aaron Presley for letting us share and know your talent

Absloutly a man ahead of his time his soundtrack could fit in to every decade and be at home a true gift to the world I was 10 when he died and honestly my life had never seen anyone with his talent such a shame his life was so short 💔

He was mind blowingly talented but that inner light that shone through him was unlike I've ever seen in another human. We can call it charisma all day but really it was so much more; it was something we don't have words to describe. And his beautiful, male face and energy on top of it made it almost hard to comprehend, to take in. Then there was his music and song choices. Just absolutely perfect. Perfect for the time, and perfect for Elvis Presley, who made them eternally timeless. He put his fingerprint on every song he recorded. Oh Elvis, there's nothing I wouldn't have given, in terms of material possessions, to meet you, to know you.

@@marcjacobscontinued9411 Elvis was really concerned that he might forget the lyrics. Didn’t matter though, in fact those incidents soon became highlights simply because of the way that he handled the situation. Usually just by smiling and laughing!
He admitted to forgetting the lyrics in the song Heartbreak Hotel while performing it in the ’68 Comeback Special. Naturally his charisma, personality and charm made it entertaining and not in the least bit awkward.
Elvis was unique, he was very gifted, he was a phenomenon!

Elvis was definitely concerned that he would forget the lyrics which he did at 7:55. Of course, being calm, cool charismatic Elvis he just laughed and shrugged it off . It’s funny how he looks back at the band either for support or to acknowledge to them that he was aware that his worries had indeed come true.
Of course nobody cared or criticized him, in fact it was those type moments that showcased his humility. Humility is just one of the many qualities that endeared him to his fans.
Elvis could do no wrong! Fans were rooting for him and overlooked any mistakes as if he were family. That’s just how people felt about him. Elvis was an incredibly talented entertainer.

Even if a song was recorded by someone else first, after Elvis sang it, he owned it. Examples are I Just Can’t Help Believing, Always on My Mind, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Let It Be Me, My Way, etc. Elvis’ versions were usually so much better with that wonderful voice. Elvis could even make a jumpsuit sexy.

For those too young to remember, the song by BJ Thomas that Elvis " didn't particularly like" was called "Raindrops keep falling on my head." It was a No. 1 hit that year and featured in the movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid." Although I also like "I just cant help believing" much better, "Raindrops" was an enjoyable song. One reason why Elvis may not have wanted to sing it is because unlike ""Believin", the "Raindrops" song was a very hard to sing due to the note changes. BJ Thomas was one of the few singers who could have pulled it off.
I beg to defer about your comment. Elvis was not referring to "Raindrops..." when he said he didn't particularly like it but to "I Just Can't Help Believing." As I have already commented several times about this in reply to other comments he was being tongue-in-cheek and he was just referring to the fact that he was having difficulty in remembering the lyrics to the song, as can be seen in the "Worries" section of this video. Hence the laughter this generates with the audience and Charlie Hodge in particular (that's the guy who hands him the lyrics sheet prior to commencing the song) who all got the joke. I fully agree with you that "Raindrops..." was an enjoyable song but facts are facts.
