    The light beam would be interrupted as soon as he touches one end to either the sensor or light emitter.
    A better way would be to take the tube out of the plant while leaving it connected to the plant’s lamp and just shine that into the sensor.

    That wouldn't work, but not because of the motion sensor thing. I don't think that was a motion sensor. It was a simple LED beaming toward a light sensitive device. As long as the beam is constant, everything is fine. Interrupt the beam, and you set off an alarm. Thing is, he broke the beam when he put the first part of the tube inside. If he'd managed to put the whole thing in all at once, he'd have had a better chance.

    • @NormanLim
      @NormanLim Рік тому +1

      I think they did that on purpose --- they didn't want to teach burglars how to get things done. Maybe this thing has a delay timer as well, to prevent insects from triggering false alarms, etc.

    • @timsanborn1181
      @timsanborn1181 5 місяців тому +2

      Thats what I was just thinking it looks impressive. But if he put the end of the tube into the hole where the sensor light was the beam would have broken and the alarm would have been triggered.

    • @jedijones
      @jedijones 2 місяці тому

      The tube is transparent, though, so was he really blocking the light? The idea seems to be that the tube would bring the light to the other side, so it wouldn't matter if he blocked some of the light as he walked through it, after the tube was connected.

    @LamaPaj A laser is simply a source of collimated (straight-line directed) photons (i.e. light). You can get lasers that emit visible light, UV or infrared light as well as microwave radiation (masers).
    Both visible light and infrared are similarly simple to emit with lasers and to detect. Infrared (emitted with lasers) is preferred in security systems because you can't see it.

  • @Gunner3210

    "the bending of light by massive bodies" is exactly what I was describing. Maybe I wasn't very clear in my comment, I was talking about how the photons, if we view the world from their perspective (as mind-boggling as that is) aren't the subject of bending, from their perspective they will always travel in a straight line, independent upon the forces of gravity. However, they have to travel to space, which is, as asserted by Einstein and others, subject to distortion. 500 character limit.

    @rich1051414 Light (elecromagnetic waves) are NOT affected by gravity, photons have no mass and thus are not pulled by gravity. Even "a lot of gravity" (a strong gravitational force) will not, in the most strictest terms, change the direction of the photons, though a singularity will distort the very fabric of space and thus trap the photons. Just get the facts right. :)
