I am impressed how the watermelons are harvested in Georgia, I always imagine snows in your area, my mistake, I realized how blessed is your place. A generations of farmers who are dedicated to make produce of this favorite fruits. And you help a lot of people for employment as well. Jacob will become a watermelon magnate in America. Keep it going because we love watermelons.

I'm also from Cordele Georgia and have also worked in watermelons in the summer back in the 80s and the 90s and we didn't have Mexicans working for us it was all family members and also we didn't have a packing house. We took them to the market.
I want to grow some watermelons here in Arkansas and have loved them since childhood when my great uncle and grandfather grew them decades ago. The weather here is great for growing them and I want to go back to farming again. After a military and state career I feel that it is time to enjoy myself and what I love doing.
Tip for you get your hands on chicken poo and mix it well before planting

I grew up on a farm and we had fields of corn and peas some watermelon and we had to work that farm really hard, hoeing weeds, and digging. That was some of the best workout I've ever had and I'd rather work out on a farm in the field absorbing thst vitamin D than go to the gym.
It just feels somehow more fulfilling and productive and I still get the same workout bending and stooping, I'm working out my legs doing squats and my arms lifting it's just better and at the end of the day I've accomplished something tangible in a way that I just really feel like I miss going to the gym.

Growing up on a small farm I can agree with Rickie, farming is hard work. He cares about the product he puts out, making a good living for his family but he didn't mention his farm labors, many of them1 working long hours for minimum wages, many of them untoctmented. What would he do if he woke up one morning and the laborers wasn't there? I hope he is teaching his hard working son that is learning the business hard work and all to appreciate and respect his help. Thank God for our farmers, especially our watermelon farmers, one of my favorite foods.

What is the spacing of watermelons?
If it's the Lords will I'll be growing my own heirloom watermelons this spring Charleston gray, Dixie Queen Watermelons and many more heirloom vegetables no more pesticide fruits and vegetables for me and no more GMO corn. If you have the space I would advise everyone to start thinking about growing their own food indoors or out.
