I love Gerbera plants and have struggled to grow them successfully have tried seed germination didn't go beyond just a sprout tried on several occasions but with little success bought plants from nursery was ok for a while them just withered away Out of a collection of 7 from last winter just a solitary one has survived till now and hope it would last. I am encouraged though watching your presentation and will try it yet again. Cheers
I won't say they're the easiest babies. They're probably suffering from fungal attacks. If you think your gerbera might die, use hydrogen peroxide. Repot it. Then apply trichoderma. Trust me. It works.
@@debarghyaroy9948 thank you very much, feel encouraged fif sure and will take that Bold step to invest yet again in the saplings even though I failed in the many attempts of the past and fingers crossed I will see Positive results. Thank you
@@anthonypereira5723 Feel free to ask me anything about gerbera if you want. I'll help you from my experience. Love to help another gerbera lover. I'm being too preachy. Don't even know your climate. Still.😃 Just start with ONE healthy sapling. But before you start you need to keep a couple of things ready.
Awesome and I am touched by your kindness Be Blessed in all your days. I live in Goa where we have no winter as such but the temperature currently is around 24°C and noon temperatures around 27°C until the end of March then the dry season humid until early June them a period of rains until mid September followed by a humid period until November The humidity can be high at times around 78/85% and temperatures no more than 33°C In the shade much cooler though but humidity remains. Hope this will help you to share in some more growing tips and critically Care that these demand. Thank you for all your help. Merry Christmas
@@anthonypereira5723 Thank you so much. I'm from Calcutta and try helping all I know with their plants. I also give away plants. Had you lived close you could have collected a gerbera for free from me for your trial. I always have extra!😃 Anyway don't go for seeds. Just lay your hand on the cheapest sapling. But before that, prepare a potting mix with equal parts of compost and very good quality soil (should be loamy, preferably from an alluvial site, I know soil from Bihar works really well, just no saline stuff) some single superphosphate (1 tbsp for 12 inch pot) and add a teaspoon of trichoderma viride in water then use it to drench the soil. Keep it moist. Don't let it get too dry. Don't overwater either. Just keep it in the pot you want to plant the gerbera for at least two weeks. You could still drench it with more trichoderma in the meantime. After that, you can think of collecting a sapling. How to plant it? That's another story. It is important to be picky with the soil for gerbera. Never use old potting soil. Get it straight from a good source. No contaminants like cement, rotten food etc. please. Also get a compost that is fine quality. No worms and foul smell. These are really important for gerbera as it is prone to root infection. Trichoderma viride is available on Amazon. And thanks for the blessings. I need them now more than ever. Merry Christmas!
Fertilize garbera plant every two weeks with a fertilizer with a low middle number, such as 15-7-15 or 12-2-12. This will aid blooming rather than leaf growth. Gerberas do not bloom indefinitely. They bloom, then rest for about two weeks before blooming again.

Is it suitable in a hot weather?
(not sure if it's too late but) I think you have to keep it away from direct sun when it's hot and when it's cold vice versa (direct sun)
