- Now that I have both the Winter Classic and Centennial jerseys, I think they would make a nice home and away combo for the Leafs.

Well, home would be that magnificent teal jersey, away would be the stadium series jersey and the 3rd would be a black one. That would be perfection for me. What about you?

I think one reason they wouldn't do it is because Montreal fans would claim that they're just copying the Canadien's style.
Rocket Jones I'm a Habs fan and I think they should copy. I'm also that weird kid who read The Hockey Sweater and unlike its narrator I thought the Leafs jersey also looked nice...
Then we can point out how Ottawa, Minnesota, Chicago and Detroit have all used that look at one time or another. That and then make fun of how Montreal should get over it because their team is hot garbage on ice :)
Absolutely true. But the Montreal jersey design is iconic, and Toronto would never go full time with something that people would connect with the Habs.
I love these jerseys but I wouldn't want to see them full time.

Patch 83 Wouldn't they be invoking the look of the hated rivals? That would be like if the Devils started wearing red, white, and blue jerseys with the wordmark on the front.
SPENCER HEISLER good point but a nice jersey is a nice jersey. I think the Devils jerseys are already nice enough. I can't imagine a stripe in behind their logo. Maybe if I saw it I'd change my mind. I already really like the "Christmas" and the straight black shoulder jerseys (no outline) for the Devils though, and that logo is among the nicest in hockey and in sports in my opinion. The Leafs jerseys were never too ugly (though the old Canada-flag esque streamlined maple leaf looks worse in hindsight and the '70s-'80s sleevy ones leave a bit to be desired) but with those stripes behind the logo I think "They're just gorgeous."

Not even a Toronto fan but being a native of Ontario I hear fans and have said this myself the second these jerseys were released that everyone wants those jerseys to be the home and away jerseys. They're gorgeous and I commonly HATE Toronto jerseys.
Goalies in Soccer wear different Jerseys to stand out as they don't wear large pads like in Hockey. It can be hard for the refs to tell who is the goalie as there's alot more players on the field, especially during a corner kick when everyone is bunched together. It dosn't really make much sense to to that in Hockey as goalies already stand out from the players. No one will mistake Andersen for Matthews on the ice lol
Heh, my argument exactly from above. But yes, there is absolutely no need for a goaltender to wear a separate sweater. Cash grab or not.
They're nice but they're too busy looking for a Leafs jersey. Leafs jersey's I think are meant to be plain and simple

The Leafs are my second favorite team, and switching to that third jersey permanently is both a great idea and a cash grab.

Yes! I absolutely love them! I always love the winter classic jerseys for not just the Leafs but for every team.
As much as I love the winter classics, I prefer to keep them as winter classics. I like it when you get a jersey that is worn once a year and is really nice.

I'm a life long Leafs fan. I remember the Leafs winning their last cup(I was 4). I agree with you Shannon. I think those jerseys look great. Keep putting out great videos

I agree, I'd love it if Toronto switched to these. Same with Ottawa's Heritage Classic and previous 3rd jersey, Buffalo's 40th anniversary + last season's winter classic and Colorado's previous 3rd and their Stadium Series jersey (although I'd like to see a slight variation on it, ie. matching the sleeves and the logo). I also wish that Montreal would change their away jersey to the one they had a few years back with the same chest stripe as the home jersey.

I like how simple the home jersey looks, but for the away, I wish they would put blue on their shoulders like their old alternates they wore in the mid 2000s

Last year I bought a Reebok Winter Classic Austin Matthews Jersey even though it is a little bit lighter blue I get lots of compliments and I love it.
Toronto has my second favorite jersey in the NHL. They should definitely go with the Winter Classic full time. My first favorite jersey belongs to my Golden Knights. I hope Vegas plays a Winter Classic one day. I think it would be pretty cool to see a desert team like Vegas or Phoenix in an outdoor game, versus a Canadian or US East Coast team. It would be interesting to see what a Vegas Winter Classic jersey would look like.
As a Leaf fan, I'm partial to the '58 to '62 version of both home and away. I think the very first St. Pats jersey is very cool too, and was very disappointed not to see it last St. Patrick's day. Anything but that blocky non descript Leaf emblem Harold Ballard foisted on us.
White stadium series jersey is the best Leaf jersey I've ever seen. Minus the white gloves, pant and socks.

I have both a home Matthews, and away marner jerseys. Would love to get a Tavares jersey, but id like then to release a third or an alternate in order to justify buying another jersey.(it would have to be a new jeresy design that JT has actually worn, or I’d just get a riely in one of those others) I love both of the outdoor jerseys they’ve worn and the areTnas jersey are cool. But if they wear the st pats jersey again this year, MLSE will for sure get into my wallet.

As a leaf fan i am in full agreement with you Shannon in making these the regular Jerseys. They are fantastic, I have a Marner and my son has a Matthews winter classic against the capitals
I think the blue logo is more iconic to the team, but a third jersey would be nice.

I would love for them to make those the home and away jerseys. Although I think they should keep the jerseys they have right now as the jerseys were a big part of Shanahan ushering in a new era for the leafs. They also haven't missed the playoffs while wearing those jerseys.

As a lifelong Leafs fan. I would love those to be their main jerseys. They are one of the purest and cleanest designs. But I think if it happens it should happen in 2020, because we are after rebuild then and that would be just great. What do you think of an idea of Blue Jackets having canon logo from 3rd jerseys as their main logo but not in those colours but classic colours of blue red white?
Personally I would love to see it. That and the Ottawa "O" are the nicest secondary logos in the league and should be their team's primary logo. Though that is just my 2 cents.

My man pulls out the sens O jersey and says “it looks a lot better than there current jersey maybe they should change them” PREECH THG as a die hard senators fan I pray 3 times a day asking for the black O jersey as home and the 2013 heritage O jersey as the away! Been a Leafs fan since '91 and the Centennial and Winter Classic are my two favourite jerseys. Feel like I say to myself exactly what youre saying everytime I watch them play. Current logo is nice but jersey is just so plain. Leafs are a one of the very few franchises in all sports that could really pulloff a truly grand, regal jersey, with multiple stripes like the Winter, and silver trim like Centennial. Sales would go through the roof even from non leaf fans with their big names.

It’s kind of hard to pick between the centennial classic and an arenas jersey. They’re both pretty sweet. But, I think one of the two should be their full time 3rd jerseys.
I've always wondered why teams only have one alternate per season. I know plenty of other teams in AHL, USHL, etc that use various jerseys throughout the season. Would be more fun imo.

My #1 beef with jerseys are those that have the strings, but have no use since it's already sewn up (just looks like hell).
the current jerseys are very nice. But it would be nice if they mixed in the winter/centennial jerseys for say.. 10 games a year.
As a Leafs fan I wouldn't be upset if they changed the jerseys to those, but I feel like it'd grow old after a couple years.

In soccer the goal keeper wears a different jersey so that the referee can differentiate the keeper from the players for the sake of Handballs and so fourth, it's litterally in the Fifa rule book that keepers aren't wearing the same colour as anybody else on the pitch. So that's why it is like that, no other reason for it.

I am a die hard leafs fan and leafs traditionalist. I own a Marner stadium jersey (the white one) bought it the day it came out, one of my favourite leafs jerseys ever. But i dont think it should used as an away. Leafs need bottom stripping. But use it as an ALT PLEASE

I so wanted that blue leafs winter classic and I saw one in a 4xl and I didn't get it and never could find another 4xl Reebok premier in that style and was and still am so upset with myself about it I'd love those as their regular jerseys they are both so sweet looking and still would love to find that blue winter classic Jersey in a 4xl Reebok premier style somewhere

I like striping but I wouldn't want it behind the logo like the Habs have it. To me that is the Habs' look. The Leafs should adopt more striping on the arms like they had on their Winter classic jersey game against Detroit.

I'd like to see them should use the Arenas jersey (aka the Leafs "are nas t" jerseys lol) as their third jersey next season except substitute the Arenas logo with the current Leafs logo :)
