    It's simply amazing that Jaco was able to put this much harmonic complexity on a 4 string bass. For bassist this is highly inspiring.

      Jackson Page there’s an rnb group that had some hits in the 90’s, called swv, and they have a song called “rain”. well their song samples portrait of tracy, and redbone samples rain - so they all make a chain in a way. jaco -> swv -> gambino. all make great music too. music is fun as fuck.

      I dunno if I ever saw him play it live. It's like three false harmonics, so it's really easy for it not to produce as clearly as it does on the album. Even Victor Wooten said he didn't know how Jaco got it so clear on the album.

    Holy shit, a version where the crowd is respectful and quiet. Some videos are too hard to watch when it’s just people making noise over the art. I get jazz and clapping after solos but during the performance is so distracting.

      Jaco was diagnosed Bi-polar. He became problematic during the last years of his life. Could be why he was fidgety. These days his idiosyncrasies would be viewed as grating.

    For me is not really of relevance the diagnosis a psychiatrist made of Jaco psychological estructure.The fact that he was a genius, makes it dificult to find the perfect diagnosis. And as he was using drugs and alcohol, this substances can cause depression, strange behaviors, see unreal things, etc... . It's so easy to put a label in a person!

      Spoken like somebody that doesn't know what they're talking about. They work in totally different musical genres, and use totally different types of techniques. Stu Hamm, Billy Sheehan, even Michael Manring, maybe could be compared to Van Halen, but your comment sounds like somebody who hasn't explored music very much and certainly doesn't understand where Jaco was coming from.
