I've been playing with one of those for a few years. Since then, I've bought two other guitars to replace it, but I keep going back to it. It's a love hate relationship. Love wins! 😘
I actually have the Ibanez Joe Pass guitar from 1998 I think. I was playing it in a music store and realized that it fit my hand so well and sounded so good that I had to buy it. I was in a meeting with military customers and during the break I called the Music Store and bought to guitar and then came back to my meeting. And I think it was the round strings that got me.
This GB 10 SE-BS is the one. The Brown Sunburst. The smaller lower bout. The Non Florentine upper bout. The Inlay the xtra cool trapeze hanger. I would spend the money on this than Any Gibson in that price range.
This is a lovely guitar. You have taste, seriously! I love that feeling of unboxing a new guitar. I ordered a vintage Orville yesterday, I can’t wait for it to turn up!
Greeting from Great Britain ..Nice playing btw you certainly got the old wes montgomery George Benson octaves thing going on......keep at it....... I own one of these guitars...there's not many decent reviews of it as it a niche instrument..Hey maybe you could do one !!!.... its a very fine guitar.....the fact that you have invested in one shows you are serious...I noticed you used a Les Paul (epiphone ) which shows that you can get a good Jazz tone out of most guitars ...remember it was Jazz that was in mind when the Gibson Les Paul was made not screaming slash guitar solos and riffs ( not that there anything wrong with that of course lol) ....another guitar that's great for Jazz (especially Grant Green type stuff) is the Epiphone casino... i own a 2006 Korean one with a fitted Bigsby ..I got it 2nd hand 7 years ago ...unfortunately the prices have leaped up i think due to that The Beatles Get Back documentary so its like every one wants one ...that said they always were cool ...I got mine because i'm a big paul weller fan (you been young may not have heard of him although you know about george so....lol ) ..mine cost £300 and came with a hard case ...its super well made ..they say the korean ones are better/ more desirable than the Chinese ones ...but i think thats just propaganda and the fact that guys selling the Korean ones are trying to jack up the price ...I'm old enough (i'm 54 ) to remember when Japanese guitars were said to be cheap rubbish...yeah right ...a 1980s Tokai strat or les paul copy anyone ?? I certainly wish id hung onto mine i had back in the good old days when i had hair ...lol Back onto the GB10SE i paid In the UK about £950 i see its now about £1200...still not bad when compared to the Gibsons equivalent....my mates got an old 80s one made in Japan and apart from obviously 40 years wear and tear they've pretty much the same instruments ...so much so my mate bought an GB10SE as a back up as his is relatively collectiable now...( hes got some really fine Gibson jazz boxes like a Gibson byrdland and the ES175 and the ibanez gb10 and GB10SE dont look cheap or inferior when sat aside those 2 very very expensive exclusive super desirable instruments....well apart from the nitro finish which does add some lovely aura of vintage vibe...hard to place ...well they say "Gibson " on the headstock and that kind of plays mind games on anyone with an interest in these classic guitars and lets be straight...the house is on fire...despite all rationale you've going to grab the Byrdland and the ES175..lol) and the main difference between the specs of the Japanese GB10 AND Chinese made GB10SE is where it was constructed...the materials seem the same...well apart from the necks the GB10 has the "prestige " fret edge treatment whereas the GB10SE has the "Artstar" fret edge treatment...the Japanese GB10 will also cost about £2600...if i was (and if i had the cash) and was after a Japanese one id buy 2nd hand as the general asking price is about £1500 to £2000 the GB10SE 2nd hand about £700 -£900......mine after 5 years playing in is starting to become a really nice guitar...im not a jazz expert but i use it to dabble in fingerstyle jazz and it works for me...the ebony fingerboard is gorgeous and the inlays flawlessly executed...it reeks of class...so if you want a really well made professional quality jazz box and cannot afford a Gibson or even a Japanese one....buy one of these babies...you'll never regret it...hell even if money is no object then buy one anyway...objectively a usa made Gibson would be a better guitar investment wise but an ES175 will cost £3500...a Byrdland up to £7000... Any ways keep it up ....sorry for the rather long post its just that seeing you unboxing reminded me of when i got mine ....if yours was anything like mine it was set up perfectly despite travelling 1000s mile to arrive at my house...i didnt even change the strings for nearly 3 years....( that said i only use it for Jazz and usually use my fender strat and gibson les paul junior for most other rock/pop stuff )....Ive never had to tweak it in anyway.....in fact i dont even need to tune it hardly...9/10 when taking it from its case even after 3 weeks not using it it will be in tune ...whereas my les paul junior i only have to look at it thinking about playing it and the bloody G string will go sharp or flat ,,lol....One more "word to the wise ) ....watch out for damaging the Jack plug ...i slightly damaged mine by been clumsy and ever so slightly cracked the varnish on the wood loosening it ...I probably one day will have to have a new jack plug cover to fix it.....small job and it still works but if i was taking it out to play live id need it sorting.....its a very well made sturdy guitar ...but hey it's still a Jazz box NOT a fender strat so treat it nice ...treat it well ...and what it sees it will not tell..lol... Remember if you do get chance do a in depth review .... most reviewers just jam with it without saying anything about the actual guitar and I think such a fine guitar that would help younger less rich apiring jazz men and women who need a fine instrument ...it needs more publicity ...there look like there's some good Japanese reviews but my japanese is a bit rusty ..lol ...but non in English...which you speak right..?...anyway...bye..
Thanks for this. I am thinking of buying a new jazz box and this model is on top of my list. Would you please give a short video on its cons and pros? Thank you
Cool! This is why the Japanese started to take over the guitar business. They asked big players what they wanted in a guitar, meanwhile, I could hardly get a poster from Fender or Gibson. George Benson was one of the first.
My GB10SE-BS has developed a problem with one of the pickups scratching in and out. To many other guitars and to darn busy to narrow it down!! This lady can sure can play.
I went through two these in a few weeks. The truss rod was polluted with finishing coat making it inoperable. I really liked the guitar but found this poor quality issue unacceptable. I returned both. Check truss rod.

There’s nothing like exploring a new guitar and discovering what it has to offer…
Have fun!
Ah... 👍 Nice! Well deserved! Looking forward to hearing your next post 🙂
Congratulations on this beautiful guitar!
Beautiful guitar.. I wish I had that much focus on my passions at that age….
You sound good young lady…on point!

Yes!! I love Ibanez guitars!
Congratulations Beautiful guitar!
Gorgeous guitar! I really like the 'George Benson' Ibanez. Enjoy!
Thank you!
A beautiful guitar in the right hands.
I`ll tell you what I always tell young players. you`ll never have one set up the way you want unless you learn to do it yourself
Beautiful guitar! Don’t forget to take the foam out from between the bridge and the top. 😊
So cool. Congratulations! 🎸
Thank you
A fine instrument, which compliments your highly accomplished playing.
Thank you!
Looks fantastic!😊
I hope your new guitar inspires you and gives great joy :)

I'm tempted to get one. I have a Gibson Les Paul, but this is stunning.
Thank you!

I went through two these in a few weeks. The truss rod was polluted with finishing coat making it inoperable. I really liked the guitar but found this poor quality issue unacceptable. I returned both. Check truss rod.
WOW great, I'm sure she's happy to hear that about her brand new guitar. Fantastic.
