Instead of calling it "depression", it's a song dedicated to all those great people who help us choose paths and makes us believe in ourselves. It is a love song for them. Teachers, parents, friends, our guardians.

This song saved my life after my relationship from hell with a girl who abused me multiple ways and because my new girlfriend played this for me and said stay with me and give me a future and I'll forget about your past. This is, in my opinion, the best love song I've ever heard. As someone with depression who eventually found love when I believed I didn't deserve to, this goes straight to my heart.
Every time I listen to this song I always think about the people in my life who never gave up on me and I cry... And then I cry some more when I think about the people who don't have that support... If you're reading this and you're depressed please know you're not alone and you're not worthless! Don't be afraid to talk to someone about how you're feeling and please remember you're life is important!

Telling them nothing matters can worsen the situation drastically and I'd advise you to watch what you're saying online! Absolutely. They show an artistic sensibility of high caliber. Gotye's music videos have always been whimsical, starting with "Somebody" (and being painted out of the picture! ha!). But I love what he's been doing with this surreal animation. Also, this song is gorgeous and yearning.

It’s really interesting coming back to Gotye’s music as an adult. When I first listened to Making Mirrors I was 13. I’m 19 now and his music just hits me a lot deeper, accompanied by the beautiful visual animation. I just love the feeling of respecting and loving these songs like it’s the first time of heard them.

Honestly, I'd say this is by far his most underrated song. It's so sincere and genuine, it deserves much more recognition than it has.
I lived this song, even though we broke up two years ago, I was in a relationship that saved me from suicidal depression. One person is enough to pull you back from the edge.

This whole album is an absolute masterpiece. There has never and will never be anything like it. It’s been 9 years and I still Google Gotye at least once a month hoping for news on a new album. It breaks my heart even more than George RR Martin not releasing Winds of Winter.

His favorite songs from the album were "I feel better" and this song. Every time I listen to either song, I cry hysterically, thinking about the many car rides how he would just immerse himself into the songs and sing away, not having any care in the world and being full of joy. I don't know if you're gonna read this, but I want to share some thoughts. Whenever I hear one-hit wonders, I just get a painful urge to dig deeper, to find more about the artist. And whenever I do, most of the time, I find a treasure trove of good stuff.
Just think about it; If you make something that is so good that resonates through the world, how can that be by accident? There must be more to the artist than simple luck or happenstance! And these other music videos that are on this channel are a testament to this. It's obvious that you pour your heart and soul into everything you do and every one of them are good.

Iirc the guy doesn't really like the business side of the music industry especially after the headache inducing copyright schmucks that his song "Somebody that I Used to Know" Caused. Long story short he's now making songs with his friends in Australia and left the big scene. He's still active in making music but you just have to dig it up pretty hard

I commented on this video years ago how Somebody I Used To Know hit home on Kimbra's part was everything I wanted to say to my abusive ex and Save Me was meeting my now husband when I could not love myself and he saved me. Now we've been together almost 11 years and I still revisit this song not just because it's awesome but because it reminds me of how my husband saved me. My ex actually contacted me a couple of weeks ago which set off all my anxieties and once again my husband was there to save me so I will keep coming back to this song because it makes me smile how lucky I am to have a husband who saved me.

I can’t stress enough how true his lyrics are. Every time I listen to it, I think of my boyfriend because he saved me. I honestly couldn’t stand myself at all. I didn’t like my weight, the fact that no guy would pay attention to me, how all of my friends were prettier and smaller than I was (literally all of them), not to even start with how society views me as a black women. Then I found my boyfriend and he destroyed every negative thought I had about myself. He made me forget about all those people in my past that helped me think I was less of a decent human. Every time I hear this song, I think of how I was lucky enough to find the love of my life.
