For a second it feels like Emma Stone will just sweep all the way to the Oscars. But I remember last year that Michelle Yeoh only won the Golden Globe and the SAG before winning the Oscar. I think if she wins SAG, Lily Gladstone has a powerful shot at also winning the Best Actress Oscar. 😊
I’ve been thinking that this years’ Best Actor race MIGHT be similar to the Dujardin vs. Clooney race of 2012. Hear me out on this: An actor wins a Golden Globe and the Critics Choice for an Alexander Payne film that is already likely to win another major above-the-line award (in The Descendants’ case, Adapted Screenplay, and in The Holdovers’ case, Supporting Actress), but then the SAG goes to the actor who won the Golden Globe in his own category, and is in the film that is also the Best Picture frontrunner, then wins BAFTA, and then ends up being part of the winning package for his film (but that’s only if Cillian wins SAG). I agree that Cillian might win BAFTA, so I think everything will come down to SAG here. But part of me also thinks that if Giamatti wins SAG, it’s not impossible for Cillian to triumph at Oscar off GG+BAFTA (which has happened before, with Olivia Colman). So I think Cillian has a path to the Oscar even if Giamatti wins SAG, but if Cillian wins SAG, then he is just going to win. Also, don’t forget that last year, when EEAAO had a good night at the Critics Choice, Michelle Yeoh didn’t win there, but then she was part of the winning package at the Oscars.
That’s key I think and what a lot of people are forgetting that is different from last year’s best actress Oscar race. Emma Stone has a showier and more physical role than Blanchett. Emma Stone with 2 Oscar is insanity and would mark the moment the Oscars should be taken to the vet to get put down. She doesn't have the talent for one let alone 2.

@@hugostolzPoor Things might won many major awards at the BAFTAs cause it's a British film. Yorgos last film won 7 awards there. So it can win any of these awards - best picture, best director, best Adapted Screenplay, best actress(guaranteed), best production design, best Cinematography, best Costume Design. Remember Shakespeare in Love won best picture Oscar with winning Globes (Comedy) & BAFTA. This year can also be the same.
Maestro is about to drop to a 3.2 on letterboxd. It’s just Mank.
Oh god I am so happy to learn a lot of people didn’t like Mank. I thought I was in the minority
Stone and Gladstone are like the Austin butler and Brendan fraiser
Just downloading the awards app now.
I knew all along that Paul Giamatti would be winning lead actor, Cillian is a great actor but in comparison to Paul, for Oppenheimer he relies so much in the ensemble.
i like cillian but what's most remarkable about oppenheimer is nolan's direction. in the holdovers it's the three leads that really make the movie
May December proved to be an press darling only. The industry is obviously meh about it, ever since it did not win anything when it premiered at Cannes.
I'm surprised the way may December has fallen off completely.
For a moment I thought the best supporting actor race was between Charles melton and Robert downing Jr. I was so wrong.
@@singstreetcar5881 melton was never going to win tbh. for him the nom is the win
Ok Brother Bro, I see those arms. Lookin good my man. 🔥🔥
creepy
What’s funny is I can see Bradley taking SAG
You never know, right 🤷♂️
Nah SAG has a better taste than that.
Still not out of the question but it’s a very slim 10% chance
I can absolutely see Emma Stone winning BAFTA, SAG, and then the Oscar. It's the performance of the year, and Poor Things is a masterpiece with a very passionate following, which is going to help her.
Emma Stone with 2 Oscar is insanity and would mark the moment the Oscars should be taken to the vet to get put down. She doesn't have the talent for one let alone 2.
It was a Barbie bananza
Barbenheimer fuckfest and then Holdovers saying "I just like to watch" in the corner.
Almost a Barbenheimer f@#¢fest but it's possible that at the Oscars _Poor Things_ and _The Holdovers_ will come in from behind and give Barbenheimer a run for their money. It's coming down to the four movies/screeners people enjoy to watch and rewatch. _Killers of the Flower Moon_ and _The Maestro_ are such joyless Oscar bait slogs.
I think Lead Actress this year is going to mirror how Lead Actress went last year. Stone wins GG, CC, and BAFTA. But then Gladstone surges at SAG, and then goes onto to win the Oscar.
I hope not. That would be a disappointing winner. Emma deserves it 100%.
I never thought Bradley Cooper had a real shot at winning anything
Same. I'm just glad it looks like critics aren't buying into his baity performance this time.
Thanks to OE, BB and sleepy kitty. 🏅 It was a more generalized fuckfest, I'd say.
And I hate to be that guy but I don’t think Bradley Cooper is winning anything and probably won’t win nothing until he’s old as hell. I.e. Martin Scorcese, Christopher Plummer, Kenneth Branagh etc
Mmm Brother Bro...
Tired of all the Bradley bashing. If Maestro was terrible then it wouldn't be receiving nominations at almoat every precursor.
Suddenly, he’s not good enough because ppl decided that giving 110% and giving years of work is too much. 😂 make it make sense
It was terrible. Hollywood celebrating another good composer who was a terrible person.
@@tonyg76 the movie yes… but the performances were excellent
@@neomohoto8861 They were celebrating a rounder and his weak willed wife. I know that is not Careys' fault because she can't make up a real person but Bradley made a terrible decision to celebrate an unlikable guy.
Thank god the Lily Gladstone train has come to a halt. I wish Sandra Hüller stopped her but still ok.
Let's see what happens with the industry awards 🙃
It's Stone's time to win another Oscar
They may still give her he oscar, first native american to win an oscar, this is a powerful headline. The academy wants to look progressive and inclusive. Them.giving Emma stone another oscar is not gonna look good on them
@@singstreetcar5881 True
@@singstreetcar5881 Not going to look good? IMO it makes them look bad giving Lily the Oscar when Emma had the best performance in the category IMO.
Brother bro, don’t tease us with that shirt and arms. Lost that shirt now
I’m still so shocked that Killers of the Flower Moon isn’t getting any love outside of Actress. I really loved that movie over Oppenheimer
Honoring Oppenheimer for fx is a competency issue. There is a reason it is not even eligible to be nominated for the fx academy award. It has almost no noteworthy fx, digital or practical.
I think Paul Giamatti's win bodes well for Alexander Payne to make the Best Director 5.
Should Payne get nominated, we could end up seeing yet another Payne/Scorsese rematch. Payne has been nominated for Best Director 3 times to date (for SIDEWAYS, THE DESCENDANTS, and NEBRASKA respectively) and he competed against Scorsese all 3 times (THE AVIATOR, HUGO, and THE WOLF OF WALL STREET respectively).
And neither of them won for any of the movies. Payne should have won for Descendants and Scorsese For Aviator
Glad to see someone else notice that besides me, Been thinking about that little factoid for 10 years now which is exactly the last time they were up against each other
Very interesting, thanks.
If The Zone of Interest is getting Best Picture, then Jonathan Glazer is a lock for Director. Maybe Lanthimos is the surprise snub and it’s Nolan, Scorsese, Glazer, Gerwig, Payne
@@seankoontz4235 maybe triet over gerwig
Guys please watch 12th fail this movie is as good as any movie that will be nominated for any awards
Cillian Murphy definitely could still win the Oscar but Lily Gladstone took a hit.
wait until SAG awards
Nah,lily not winning dont end her chances
Murphy had a subtler performance and I hope he wins. But the last half an hour of that movie was dull.
Oppenheimer
I still think American Fiction can beat Barbie in adapted screenplay.
It's gonna be tight
@@jonathanvelazquezph.d.2719yeah but Feminism & Wokeism quota will give Barbie an edge.
Still SO MAD ABOUT CILLIAN LOSING
😂 this is not the Oscars! Heck, it's not even an industry recognition
Why? Giamatti gave the best performance and will win the Oscar.
Soo happy for Giamatti, been a fan of him for years!! Love Cillian too so may the best one win the Oscars!
No words for RDJ, he is so gonna sweep , deservingly 🤣
Like Poor Things, but I always wanted Lily to have an edge over Emma Stone, race is not over yet!
I think race is over in best actress category cause BAFTA will award the actual Best which is Emma and will not care about diversity cause they are not American. And SAG are 90% likely to go for Emma Stone.
@@mohitrawat5225 You are right for BAFTA but I still want to be surprised with SAG deep down.
Charles melton is not happening. I'm so sad for him.
Young actors need encouragement
Dominic Sessa entered the chat.
@@rhythmoriented they presented him award on the red carpet, he didn't even give a speech

@@rhythmoriented i honestly think he has a bigger shot at a nom than charles at this point but i don't think either one will get it
Emma Stone is on her way to win a second Oscar before the age of 35. Young actors are doing fine
Cat.
Knowing when critics like Grace Randolph voted for this, you know barbie will be shoehorned.
Plus she doesn't like Cillian's performance because of tje character he played lmao.
Makes sense. Oppenheimer was not a good guy.
It ain’t over till PGA and SAGS
I feel like Gladstone can still upstage Stone when they get nominated. Everyone has been more vocal over Gladstone's performance more so than Stone's who, might I add, already won an Oscar.
the optics of a young white woman winning a second Oscar over an equally as good Native actress would be...something. Both good performances but there would be questions
The lead drama actress reminds me of Michael Yeoh and Cate Blanchett from last year
yes.
It was hard to see Oppenheimer pretty much win everything except for Cillian Murphy who I think deserves it the most. That didn’t sit right with me. I love Paul Giamatti but I think he’s winning because he’s an acting legend, he’s a delightful person & because he’s due. I know he’s great in The Holdovers but I just don’t think his performance is as extraordinary as Cillian Murphy. Cillian Murphy’s acting was an experience. I felt every emotion that went across his face like it was my own. I’ve never felt anything like it before. It was deeply affecting.
Both such deserving actors with strong careers behind them but I hope the award season swings back in Cillian’s favour at SAG, BATFA & The Oscars. 🤞❤️
BAFTAs has a history of having suprising wins especially in acting categories which eventually went onto win the Oscars. Cilian now looks like frontrunner for the BAFTAs but they might surprise with Paul.
Emma Stone is walking the Cate Blanchett path now and we know how that ended up. Will be Lily or Margot who sends Emma home without Oscar? March is still a long way to go 😮
Well only lily could now... (but I don't want it !!)
@@suzen.655 yep Margot is out but mmmm Sandra Huller, they love her
@@monicamerle1417 yes but for she isn’t in the race
Give Paul his Oscar!.. he got robbed twice already so it’s only fair… he made people cry and laugh where Cillian was TOO calm and settled

We got some nice head to head battles now. Cilian vs. Paul. Lilly vs. Emma.
Emma Stone winning her second Oscar at 35 is a little much and I also don't think her Poor Things performance is that amazing.
Lily Gladstone only got nominated and a few wins because she’s an Indian
If you didn't think Stone's performance was amazing, you didn't see Poor Things.

Barbie in Adapted Screenplay i.e. the right category!
True but is gonna win
Cillian deserves the award his performance was far more deserving. It feels like the repeat of lets give Giamatti cause its about time just like Leo when he clearly shouldn't have won for that role
This also feels like the only chance for Cillian to win an Oscar, its gonna go down in history as an all-time fumble if he doesn't get this
Leo absolutely deserves award for The Revenant
@@shantaram8839 not the Oscar he had far better performances that he should have won his Oscar for

Mark Ruffalo should have won supporting…
Everybody hates maestro.
The film is not good. The story is weak.
Carey mulligan is the only good thing in that film
Bradley Cooper was doing too much in this film but the film still ended up coming up short.
A movie about a gay but no gay sex,no gay kissing, no wild parties. Gays in the 80s were WILD. Maestro just like bohemian rhapsody shyied away from reality. Smh
Even Emma Stone seemed ashamed for taking the Best Actress award from Lily Gladstone.. :x
Nothing to be ashamed about. She gave the best performance of the year, she deserved it.
Emma Stone did not deserve the Oscar at all for LaLa land. Ryan Gosling CARRIES that movie the entire way through. This time around, she had the besr performance of the entire year for Poor things and it truly wasn't close. As for men, I love both Murphy and Paul...i hope both win lmal
