Look at this Stevie, The Marxist-Labour Party is opposed to Parents providing Education for their own Children, and seek to penalise this with VAT. Some Crank Labour MPs have said "the whole problem" is that Private Schools are "the Engine" of inequality, I ask does these Labour Party Marxist-Cranks also oppose Parents purchasing Cloths for their children ? and also perhaps do they oppose Parents purchasing Food for their children ? Because surely the clothing & Food may be also a cause of so-called inequality. Government in the UK at the present time is using Tax payers Cash to pay for the Clothing & Food of around 10 Million UK Residents, why not do it with the remainder ?
Equality in Education, or equality in “result in education” is simply not possibly because in the very first place the children themselves are all different, they all possess different Talents, abilities, enthusiasms and capacities. Will the Labour Party Marxist Cranks seek to ban children from listening to Bedtime stories, because its well known that children that listen to bedtime stories excel more than their fellows In the first instance the 1st Dad that goes to work for His Family already pays Tax on His income, why should He be required to pay Tax again when He spends the Family income on His childrens Education. In a second instance a 2nd Dad who works but decides not to spend any of His cash on Education for His children because He gets it all for free from State Schools. Is there anyone out there that really believes that VAT on Private Schools is going to result in Equality of result in Education ? Plus, The 1st Dad pays for the State schools of the 2nd Dad’s children in the Taxation in His income Tax Businesses, entrepreneurs and hard-working families in the UK are no longer seen as an asset, but instead Government sees them as Prey, yes prey to strip their cash and hand it out to those that have not worked for it. This UK Government continues to take cash out of the pockets of people that have earned it and give it to people that have not earned it . . . so that they get Votes
@@stevenfarrall3942 The majority of public sector employment is a form of enhanced welfare system, a massive uplift in cost in order for the government to lift people from unemployment into non-jobs, thereby "improving" the unemployment statistics. Reminiscent of the period when Gordon Brown took a lot of unemployed, wage rate-competing potential labour supply out into Incapacity benefits, a short-term uplift in income for them but a reduction in their likelihood of ever participating in the labour force again (at least, the private sector labour force).
I live in Wales and performance of our NHS and schools has been poor for some years. I had to wait over 3yrs for a hip replacement. It seems that the Westminster government is looking to Labour Wales as a beacon of poor performance and lowering themselves to our level. Welcome.
If only there was a policy that could be taken that was popular with the public that would decrease crime, lower welfare costs, relieve pressure on schools, NHS & roads, free up housing... any ideas anyone?
I agree. It's a myth to look for a perfect system. Most people are struggling to pay huge unaffordable mortgages with high energy costs. Imagine if they are asked to pay for private healthcare like in US as suggested by farage. And IEA . I for one think we should all pay a small nominal amount every time I visit the doctor. It will stop unnecessary visits. Social housing should not be life unless physicaly disabled. If you are found cheating the system on social benefits you should be punished severely. There are some people in my area living a better life than me on benefits. I am not saying all. With an unaffordable private housing issue, we are set on a difficult path with few and painful choices. the US is not a good example of a good healthcare system where a broken arm can costs $10 000.
I despair when I watch things like this, in the real World people invest for one reason only ....Profit after Tax. The UK has been a dreadful place to invest for several decades and it will not change until there is a massive change of attitude to making Profits. Gordon Brown was the start of the decline, before him businesses paid taxes on profit's but he changed that, and over the years business today pays most of its taxes before it makes any profits. A great example is the Pub industry, out of every Pound you spend, over 50p goes straight to the Government in one tax or another. These are not taxes on profits they are taxes on opening, this is why the Town Centers are a tip!
I think you're all far too optimistic about what we will get from a Labour government that is massively further left than those of Tony Blair or even Gordon Brown. Recall the "scars on my back" speech of Blair some 15 years ago? Every time he tried to anything remotely "good" from a classical liberal's point t of view, which was only an occasional tendency of his, he was blocked at every turn by the unions and by the hard left elements of the Labour Party (currently what we might regard as the mainstream of the party, perhaps even the more centrist, moderate part of it, given how much more Soviet much of the current government seems to be than any we have had since the 1970s). Tony's scarred back will be a fondly-recalled triviality, compared with the broken back faced by the taxpayer over the next four years.

@@stevenfarrall3942 You seriously want to pay thousands a year for what you get now for free? Insurance would simply add cost overhead and bureaucracy (insurance wants to earn profit too) to the health system, prices will spiral out of control (insurance has no downward pressure on costs - look at car insurance) and most of the country would end up either uninsured or under-insured (insurance won't pay out for expensive treatments). If you want to live in a country where ambulances check your wallet for insurance before taking you to hospital, go live in the US!
Closing remarks on encouraging private health care misses some key facts : any problems in care sent back to NHS. There is lack of intensive care and how do they deal with the complexities of multiple conditions ? Must have clinical input on these discussions. These are costly factors for the NHS to pick up.To say nothing about work force to deliver. Remember those Nightingale hosp without any staff…
What’s the cost of all those highly paid education trusts. Government should set a maximum amount of money allowed on administration out of each pupil budget.
I couldn't disagree more with the points made on private healthcare. NHS dental care was under funded making private care the norm. NHS services do still exist but in the majority of cases, if you can't afford private dental care, you don't get dental care. Let's not fall into the same trap with the wider NHS.
Apart from anything else, keeping illegal immigrants on benefits with free heating and household bills, with No jobs in the foreseeable future. Useless Eaters. Which is how the native population is seen
Comments on NHS all focussed on secondary care. ‘Only two ways- top down or market choice’. You have missed primary care and particularly public health. But most specifically, the social determinants of health totally ignored here. These determinants of health lie outside the NHS. Broader discussion to join this up with liberal views versa current combo of Blair and Osborne.
