Who knew? I'm guessing they're made for wider cars so that only the straps go through into the doorway. However, with yours, at least it spreads the load on the door seals. I requested a review of a cargo solution for Elton for some time now and I’m delighted! There are times when you guys may need to carry oversized cargo or luggage which won’t fit in the car? The Handirack I think is a sensible and handy solution to your dilemma. Its also portable so you can install it only when its required. It will make your life a lot easier and expand the versatility of the Ami. If you can safely carry a paddle board, you can carry anything that won’t fit into the car. In life, you have awkward things to deal with and you find yourself wishing you could transport them conveniently and securely. That’s been addressed and congratulations!

I won't put the central heating on yet but keeping one room warm and the burner on for 30 mins does the job! ANYWAY, loved the video, keep on doing it you guys! Good guys. You are awesome. I wanted to ask you a question after watching this video to make an improvement on the Citroën Ami. Do you think that with all the followers you have, you could see if someone has modified the Citroën to be able to install a fixed support on the roof, even if it is from another Citroën model and can be adapted or from another brand. I do not want the bars of the Tonic model, since they are only decorative. I want some real bars so I can use them and carry things. Hopefully you can give me a hand and that someone reads this or ideas. Thank you and good trip with Ami!!!!
Thanks Sergio. I think the problem you would have would relate to load bearing. It’s a pretty thin plastic roof and the frame is not that substantial either. I’ve not heard of anyone doing this yet and I’ve been pretty active in all the European groups..

Always a good tip for my Ami 👍. Just a tip for you:I don't know how It works in France, but in Italy the paddle couldn't overcome the front of the vehicle, in the back you need the white and red board at the end of the paddle, and It couldn't overcome 3/10 of the lenght of the Ami. But I think no guard would stop you if not to congrat 👍

I’ve only just subscribed. I have an EV already but I keep thinking do I need such a big range so am considering the Ami. Then I came across your channel. Ooh it’s so addictive. You two are so comical too, you brighten my day, so thank you. I’m a disabled (wheelchair user) who drives with hand controls. I’ve made an appointment with my Citroen dealership to see if I can easily transfer into the Ami and secondly if I can easily transfer the wheelchair across me to the passenger seat. I’ll update you x
Well, Tim…. I could transfer into the Ami, transfer the wheelchair (wheels off, folded etc), however, hand controls cannot be fitted. 😢 Thrown at the last hurdle. So for now I’ll stay with my Hyundai Ioniq and see what other little EV’s come on the market in a couple of years. Just a thought … maybe in one of your vids you could give us a little insight into your lives.,where you met (was it the theatre) why you moved to France etc? I think it’d be helpful. Mwah x
"Trickleage" aside, quite a "Handy" solution Tim, and with the paddle board builds on the Ami's beach-buggy (beach-buddy) look. Perhaps the inflatable roof mount could also carry a large solar panel I see some 600w panels that appear to be the same size as Elton on Ali for about $120. And some smaller 400W units. And with the Blueti, and pass-thru charging, you shouldn't need any charge controller, just plug it in.
@@MeandMonAmi I figure a 500w panel ought to be good for about 10 to 30km per day depending on how strong the sun is. A friend uses a pair of 350W panels on his Camping SUV and has them configured to tilt port and starboard, and gets pretty good output even close to sunset.

Prices seem almost too good so I'd have to confirm before recommending but if true they seem a good value. Panels would also have to be compatible with your Bluetti MPPT solar input. I'm not really sure the way the paddle board was mounted is aerodynamically optimal at higher speeds 😅 But the paddle board must be the best thing against the sun heating the interior, it gives shadow for the glass roof and the windshield/rear window!

Talking of locations: I know that you've already done one on Eileen Grey, Le Corbusier & Coco Chanel as part of your video on your walk from Roquebrune to Menton but there is a statue of Le Corbusier near where he had his final heart attack that did not feature and he designed many more buildings than Eileen Gray plus that "Cabanon" was reconstructed in the RIBA (The English link?) as well as featuring in an Italian book with fabulous drawings that I looked at this weekend, Hence I would suggest a whole video on Le Corbusier in Roquebrune? Will you ever get to Marseille?
You never know, Citroen may wake-up and supply a carbon fibre/fibreglass roll-cage/Strong-point for the cabin roof as an after-market purchase - job done. You've now shown the way . . If Citroen doesn't follow-up, after-market third party suppliers will.
Wonder if a friend with a 3-D printer could produce a couple of plastic tie-offs, positioned on the interoir cabin roof just over the door(Like the passenger grab handles you find in some cars), so that the straps for the inflatable roof bars could be tensioned and tied off above each door, eliminating the need to run the straps across the interor of the cabin. Perhaps the tie-off mouldings could be secured to the roof with the version of super-glue (Cyanoacrylate ester) they use to secure rear-view mirrors to windscreen glass - tough stuff.
Love your videos guys, this is feedback on not criticism...would you be able to turn off the autoblur in the background? It ruins the beautiful scenery and also blurs details in the foreground. :-)
Although it is classified as a "Quadricycle" in the UK, car driving license and insurance are required for use on a public highway. Not sure about provisional licence status, as 3 wheelers should not have a reverse capability in this case. Uk law is barmey.

Interesting. Suction seems to work well on glass but not on the plastic in our experience

Wonder if a friend with a 3-D printer could produce a couple of plastic tie-offs, positioned on the interoir cabin roof just over the door(Like the passenger grab handles you find in some cars), so that the straps for the inflatable roof bars could be tensioned and tied off above each door, eliminating the need to run the straps across the interor of the cabin.
Perhaps the tie-off mouldings could be secured to the roof with the version of super-glue (Cyanoacrylate ester) they use to secure rear-view mirrors to windscreen glass - tough stuff.
Might work Nicholas. I’d love to try 3D printing but Mr Boo would probably divorce me if I bought one!

Although it is classified as a "Quadricycle" in the UK, car driving license and insurance are required for use on a public highway.
Not sure about provisional licence status, as 3 wheelers should not have a reverse capability in this case.
