I'm still learning how to do all the different styles of video stuff from editing to interviewing, so thanks to everyone who is sticking with us on the journey. Need to get some progress on my GSi now to get the next video together with the Calibra 😁

There was many times I stood at my door when it was on the driveway (before it went into my garage) and thought what the hell, then as each piece of history unfolded I was amazed, my mate Jay (rebuild custom) actually passed on this car and he now kicks himself for it

I remember when i first saw one in 1990 and looked futuristic for the time. Silly of vauxhall making a 2.0 8v version. I believe it had a cd factor of 0.26 one of the lowest around. The wing mirrors had a fault on them too on the early models with them dropping off lol. Still a great looking car today and not aged much.
Good bit of trivia there 😁 It did look absolutely stunning in 1990, it was like a super car. The 8v Calibra only had 14 inch steel wheels on it, I think they helped the drag a tiny bit too. The 16v was 0.28, while Cavaliers apart from the GSi were 0.29. That big front bumper meant it was slightly less slippery, at 0.30. I think by comparison the old Mk2 was 0.37. It was an important thing at the time, the drag figure. After the 90s you never saw it come up often but it was part of the spec list then.

The calibra is still one of my favorite cars I've owned one that was a total basket case ,but still fell in love with it . Can't wait to see this again hopefully in the sunshine it's ages since I've seen paint like that
Good to hear the background to this beast. The Calibra is still a good looking beast. The shape has aged well. I thought I detected a hint of Caribic Blue under the bonnet. Still one of the greatest Vauxhall colours

I was never really a fan of the calibra at the time, but by christ I look at that and think it looks pretty damn good! The paint on it is very interesting I like the transition on it.

Awesome Dougie i use to have a couple of calibras there nice looking cars she sounds nice i did find the lights were poor at night couldn't see the road haha 👍
Awesome bit of history 👏 tastefully modified of its time. I would have loved flip paint back in the day, wanted silver with a blue pearl on my old mk5 Orion but thankfully i smashed it before i wasted anymore cash on an rst transplant & paint 😁
This looks very very similar to one that I had the EDS chip-set from back in 2005. Thought the chap was going to break the whole car. I had the chips for my V-Tuning converted LET Astra GTE MK2.
Would love for my v6 mk3 Astra van to meet this and the cavalier! Mine used to have the issue of starting second time every time. I replaced the FPR and it cured it. Maybe worth a try for the cost of one.
I dropped and cleaned the sump and pickup pipe 2 days ago and replaced the auxiliary belt and all of a sudden it now starts first time, weired. Where are you from ?

How many different colours does that paint show up??? I got some me old mags but, defo not one with that in n it, would have remembered, not a fan of it, never really went for that type of "Mag feature" look but, those back arches to spoiler are a work of art, the flow without a belmish, someone had an eye for quality they way their finished. "Metal cam covers getting hard to find now", yeah right tell me about it. Funny timing tho', just dipped my toes into sorting my six pot this week, it been standing 3 year.
Great video Dougie, very nice car. I rem autocar testing a green nova xe turbo, must have been a "green" thing for the vauxs when the modded ford's had the zebra stripe fad! I don't understand why Courtney wasn't "bigger", in the way of like mountune, power engineering and turbo technics were with the ford's. Wasn't there another tuner/handler too? ,( rem Im a Ford man at heart so maybe mistaken,) Bill Blydenstein?? I'm sure autocar interviewed the Courtney bloke, and they were impressed with his work, likening it in a way to Alpina no less. As I've said to you b4 I look forward to a cav turbo 4x4 test versus a saff cos. Its also a shame they didn't rally the 4x4 calibra as a replacement of sorts to the lovely manta (I'm thinking mcrae, Brooks, and of course Mr Vatanen.) Anyway great video. Best wishes. Bill Blydenstein was a tuning legend of the DTV era. The other main Vauxhall tuner in the 90s was Regal Autosport of Southampton. Thorney got involved with VXR era cars at the time too.
Quite sure this was Jon Shields car after he sold the Nova...The Viggen....then a boy in Ipswich owned it then I never saw it again till your last video....the number plate gave it away

I’m not sure I’d want a car that’s not got a true identity, it’s been converted three times, now a mint, original turbo 4x4, yes in white. The cavalier turbo is more my thing. 10k now for a minter. If you can find one that hasn’t been messed with.👍
