What a joy to watch ! So much to learn from. Just what I needed and I really found it informative and inspiring Thank you very much for sharing your wonderful skills. I can’t wait for your next video.
Incredible artist. I must learn from Joseph McGurl. I have waited a long time for an opportunity to learn from a master artist of this quality. I am gratful. Kathleen Flanagan from Carson City Nevada
Great work .And a great assessment on the fraudulent art industry.I,m pretty sure a few hundred years ago it wouldn’t even be a debate.A lot would be fire starters.
His silk is fabulous! I admire him so much but think about he spends 100 hours weekly in studio, he deserves what he has and no one can surpass his legend !!! Absolutely a true artist
The gesso has a powder.. powdered calcium so that its not slick its got a bit of texture and it slightly absorbs paint. maybe not absorbs but the oil paint stays put a little better. I got gesso for 10 dollars the other day. Especially if you are painting with acrylic, you could just seal the canvas or board with acrylic if you want
@@MrKongatthegates awesome thank you. Do you know where to buy the strident(probably misspelled) tool/roller? Checked everywhere, I could think that would carry it. No luck.

Thanks for sharing your techniques of painting. I like your idea of merging the preparation of canvas with underpainting!

I do an under painting on my canvas first and then do my painting.
Does anyone know where I can find one of those striation tools he's talking about at roughly 1:05:40?
I see you added a coupla lil schoonas at tha end there
you put colored gesso and then white on top of it with the bead gesso, so you loose your value?
How long will the videos be free for?
❤
I noticed that most landscape artists believe in god, and part of their joy is expressing their love for him and his creation
I think I’ll use my iPad rather than make b&w photocopies.
Why use gesso instead of acrylic under painting? Is there a difference?
