    Great video. I'd be fascinated to see the video of you sanding down your floor and hope you do upload it someday.

    Welcome back! I got the Bosch and have been using the Mirka Abranet pads not realizing that Bosch makes the net style pads too. I'll have to check those out. I use Diablo Sandnet pads with the 5" Milwaukee and I hope to try their 6" pads too.

    No doubt it's a good tool, but comparing it to the Rotex is kind of like the whole Samsung vs Apple thing with phones. If you like it and it does the job and fits your budget, go for it. But folks have their preferences and priorities. I'm happy out with my 9 year old Rotex and like how well it works. It's still good as new and while I never needed it, the 3 year all-inclusive warranty and theft insurance gave me some peace of mind spending what it cost. But I'd have been just as happy with the Makita if it does the job as well. That's what matters at the end of the day. The rest is just down to whatever a guy wants to do with his own money and that shouldn't be of any concern to anyone else. I'd recommend either machine to anyone in the market for a geared rotary/random orbit 6" sander, as neither are a bad buy.

      I thanks for your comment. know what you mean but I honestly don’t think Festool can justify what they charge for a Rotex. I have a number of Festool tools and accessories; the track saw is poor compared to the competition in terms of power and value for money, the MFT is not worth the money but the Domino is excellent and definitely worth it. If the Rotex was 25-30% more I think they could maybe justify it but not double. The Rotex’s USP is dust extraction, material removal and finish quality which I think the Makita can match it also comes with a 2 year warranty so you are paying a lot for theft insurance and an extra year’s warranty.

      i've killed a motor in one year in one of these, even used in combo RO150+CTL mini most of the time. This makita looks promising to be honest and makita brand seems to have a bit more value than festool. CXS is wonderfull, as well as kapex if you do a lot of miters.

      Thanks mate! The sander has really impressed me, glad I didn’t waste my money on the Festool! Also, I’m so pleased with how your channel is going, absolutely brilliant! 😊👍🏼

    If you can get any of the Bosch dual action sanders they are far better. Depending on price, if there’s no local availability then delivery is a good option. I love Makita tools in general but their sanders usually score lower on reviews.

    This looks great , I definitely would like to upgrade from my erbauer, Is the reason it’s so good at dust free work due to them pads you’ve used ? Like a mesh with tiny wholes so dust goes straight through into your vac ?
    My erbauer and the sound sand paper discs still create quite a lot of dust ,

      It definitely helps. Give the Bosch ones a try Screwfix do them they are called “Bosch sanding discs punched” on the site.

    Having bought a flat that I’m renovating, I started to look at a festool because comments from other comments but I think this is what I need. What vacuum do you recommend?

      I have the same nilfisk as this guy and really impressed

    I’m looking at buying this sander and a dust extraction / vacuum setup. What are you using? The comments suggest a Nilfisk? Do you need additional adapters to connect it to the vacuum?

    • @WheresMyPencilUK
      @WheresMyPencilUK  Рік тому

      Yes I use it with a Nilfisk and some Cen-tec adaptors. It works well. I also recently got a Festool CTM Midi vac and it’s great with this too. I’d recommend using a cyclone too as if you use it in rotary mode for aggressive material removal it will create a lot of dust and fill the bag in the vac very quickly.

    What Bosch disks did you use on the wall??

    • @WheresMyPencilUK
      @WheresMyPencilUK  2 роки тому

      Was the M480 net discs. Think I used 180 grit. Doesn’t need to be too rough for filler and don’t use turbo mode unless you want to take everything off!

    That’s going to look out of place with all the dewalt you have 🤣
    I’m building my collection of Makita and like the rubber on your sander, the rubber on my impacter is starting to peal 😕
