I'm Swiss man. I like the way u talk about my country. Is funny to see my world with your eyes! Thanks man 😃 I see it slightly different. But is cool. Thank you. Always welcome! 🤠
I have been there exactly 20x for skiing, its very beautiful, Titlis is often pretty crowded. I can imagine how calm Titlis is now without any chinese tourists I've heard that they planned to replace the 80 pers. gondolas with larger 100 pers gondolas and even plan to refurbish the titlis station in the future and make the weather station/tower accessible for visitors as a view point. If you got more time, go visit Fürenalp in Engelberg, its much calmer/lesser known and its a very scenic place. Ideal to hike or to go climbing
Since this pandemic and the following lockdowns have occurred, UA-cam has been my saviour. I love anything Mountains and snow and have been very lucky in finding your video's. I want to explore Switzerland and didn't really know where to look for guidance regarding the locations of different places. I know now!! The series of films has helped me plan and given me an insight of the places that I may well have missed. Trouble is, now I want to go every where!! Thank You Mr Callan.
We had visited Mt.Titlis as a part of Europe tour arranged by M/s Thomas Cook India .Two cable car journeys are simply wonderful sights and won't get nowhere in the world. Thanks for recalling our joyful days.
I was there last May 2019with my friend Amy we enjoy much of out tour to Europe..that my dream come true to see the other side of the world most talk about on their holiday
Wow! I was there Feb. 2020 before the Pandemic. I had great adventure going there from Lucerne. Titlis will offer you such amazing view and unforgettable experience!
Nice, clear description. We went Engleberg & Titlis from Zurich by bus tourist package. Returned from Engleberg to Lucerne by train, after visting Lucerne came back to Zurich by bus.Excellent, one may try this route.
Such a detailed video, planning to go next month. !!! Thanks for giving all the information regarding climatic conditions, number of hours spent.etc..,
So fun to this video of a place we go often as well! We live in Zurich and hike in this area a lot. Love that you're sharing it with the world. Gorgeous!
Thank you. Though I visited Mount Titlis, last May 17', you have made me refresh and I really enjoyed the video. As you advised we will travel by Train from Lucerne to M.Titlis.
Just back from Mount Titlis last April 2019. Thanks for the very detailed explanation is very helpful for the next trip to Zurich. Really hope to get back there soon.
Very helpful. I plan to go in some near times, lets see the beauty. It resembles my home country India's beauty of Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand and Sikkim.
One of the best and perfect scenic ride through your eyes to us. I would shout out to have many new visitors to your channel . You seems to be the best
Was there October last year. Journey there to Engelberg and up Mt Titlis was nice. However it was a cloudy day that day. Was up summit for about 2-3 hours but clouds didn't clear. Would want to go back one day. Dennis as usual your videos are so. Informative and nice. Keep posting.
feel free to check my vids if you want from Titlis, it was quite awesome. Naturally the Glacier is receding, I chatted to a guide on the hill and he talked about how much its changed over the years, i took the ice flyer over the Glacier and it was simply one of the best things ive ever done, and ive been all over the Canadian Rockies also.
Yes totally agreed, we love Lucerne and Titlis too. Just been there in May22 & had a fantastic time so thanks for bringing back the good memory! (Although I disagree with you saying 2nd class is as good as 1st class as I have to say 1st class seats were much more spacious, the big & clean windows were amazing & therefore no need to lower the windows. The 1st class train ride had added a huge positive difference to our experience in Switzerland)
Happy to hear you had a wonderful time in Lucerne and Titlis, amazing places. About the train windows, I am frequently shooting video and don't want any reflection in the window, so sliding them down in second class is better for me. Window reflections can ruin a beautiful video shot. Anyway, those Swiss trains are excellent, and first class is more comfortable.
Spannort restaurant in Engelberg used to be open 6 days a week during summer season as well. at least till 2013. The waitress with the brown hair at 27:37 is Pamela, she is from Portugal and lives and works in Engelberg for more than 10 years.
I've never been to Switzerland even though I visited various European countries. It reminds me of one other place I've been to in a way. The Himalayan foothills of India, believe it or not although that's not as developed except for around Darjeeling. Stunning scenery and infrastructure here, thx for this video denniscallan. Cheers!
I've noticed that too. View of Swiss Alps is quite similar to Himalayas but since the infrastructure in Himalayan range is not that great, trip to Himalayas is good for backpackers only.
Thanks Dennis , really enjoyed the experience .Your commentary was very interesting and informative.I'd really like to make this trip after listening to your narrative. The best part is usually about the eating choices , imagine eating at 10,000 ft. high .
Hi Dennis, thank you so much for such a detail video of Lucern and all other travel videos ,I planned my euro trip according to your video,so looking forward to visit euro next week!its made it much easier for first time visitor.
Hi Tina, I'm glad my Swiss videos have been helpful. I always design them to be practical guides filled with all the beautiful sights, glad it worked for you. I'm sure you will enjoy Switzerland.
My wife and I were there in 1969 on a clear sunny day and took the funicular up the first part of the trip up the mountain. At the next to last change building we saw people sunbathing on the roof of the building and it was cold then at that point.
It’s very important to know what you’re talking about when you make a video. Maybe with people who have no idea about mountains it can work, but to say that the Finsteraarhorn is the Jungfrau...you just have to look at the topo-map that’s at the top to know which mountain is what!
Great series of videos Dennis, I am on the fence about getting the Swiss travel pass?? We will travel from Zurich airport by train to Lucerne, and we plan to go to mount titlis, rigi and possibly pilatus and the transport museum.. is it worth getting? Thanks 🙏
@@denniscallan I'd love to know if u think its worth it for us. Just me & my 15 yr old (who i believe is free to ride all trains with me?...but when i was playing around to see prices it looked like they were charging for him online) we fly into Zurich will take train to Lucerne then train for this exact adventure u have here then Lucerne to Montreux and then Montreux to Geneva airport. For a total of 4 days in Switzerland. I can't figure out if it's worth it or not.
Sir dennis, your video is very informative. we'll be in Lucern and came across to see ur video. How much does it costs to take the cable car back en fort in Mount Titlis?... Thank You!
Titlis-Engelberg r/t is 92 Swiss Francs. You can get a combined rail-lift ticket from Lucerne train station with a slight discount. Last week of April is great time to be there, yes.
I just love your videos.. They are super informative and really well made. We will be there in Switzerland between May 2nd-7th. Will the cable car ride from Engleberg to the top of Mt Titlis be open during that time ?
Thank you Dennis. I was really looking hard to find such a video introducing the way for Titlis. In regards to scooter, how can I reach Gerschnialp? There are two cables as I understand from your video. The first from Engelberg Talstation to Stand, then from Stand to the Summit and vice versa. So, how can I reach the scooter stop? You have some videos with maps illustrations and I do really thank you for them.
Yes, my Titlis video, like most of my work, is detailed, glad you like it. The scooters are available when you change cablecars on your way back down from Titlis. It's easy. Just ask one of the workers, they will explain. It is definitely worth it.
We're going next week. I bought a package tour but i am going to cancel that & buy the swiss travel pass. We are staying in Lucerne. Do we need to catch the train at a certain time? And do we need to prebuy the tickets for titus online before we arrive there? Thanks for this video
good move to go on your own with the swiss pass. Go to the Lucerne train station ticket office, show your pass, get the rail and lift ticket there at a discount. Trains leave every hour, check the schedule there or online. When up on Titlis, keep the rail schedule in mind for your descent and return. If you are stuck waiting in Engelberg, take a walk, hit the bakery, sandwich, or treat.
If you needed some new places to visit in Italy, less known than the usual places, have a look at "Linea Verde" on Rai1 - sunday's 12.20pm ET. But in Italian! There's a lot to learn about Italy's inside.
Really helpful thanks! However i think it would have been bit more helpful if you added or mentioned the prices on the videos (ie train tickets, cable carts etc)
I'm glad the Titlis video is helpful. I generally don't mention prices because there are many different possibilities, depending on what discount you might have from Swiss Pass or other options, and the prices do change from one year to the next, so it's best for you to do a web search and you will get current info on range of possibilities. It gets a bit complicated -- I've found that sometimes the clerks at the rail station are not even sure!
Who has been to mount titlis ? ☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️
