I'd consider visiting Switzerland in August or early September when it's warmer. This allows you to 'read' the landscape differenlty - the scenery & glaciers are even more dramatic - the glaciers are not obscured by snow - and you have an opportunity to do more walks - big or small. Either way you'll love Switzerland. Happy & safe travels.
very good suggestions. Almost any time is good, but for hiking best avoid late October-early May because trails are often covered in snow, not good for walking.
Hi Dennis, I might have missed it on your video but which month was this filmed ? I’m doing a trip to Switzerland in early June including a stay in Zermatt
You can find those details and more on my webpage about Gornergracht, which also has links to the official Tourist Information websites: townsofeurope.com/Switzerland/Gornergrat.html
Probably not. You'll see in parts of my video where the snow is gone and we are standing on rocks, photographed in late June. There are glaciers on adjacent mountains you will see, but Gornergrat station is not at a glacier.
Hi dennis, what month did you visit zermatt and gornergratt here in this video? I plan to go there in May is it cold and are there enough snow? Thanks so much
We went in May. If you want to hike and go at the beginning of May, not so good, there might be snow on the trails, so you can't see them, and cannot hike. But mid or late May is perfect -- not too cold, towns are just right, before the summer crowds.
Switzerland’s Zermatt Region of the Southern Valais shares the distinction, with the Jungfrau Region, as home to the tallest and most vast glacial region in Switzerland. On a more serious note these glaciers are retreating with global warming. Sadly some of the lower glaciers are said to disappear within the next 20 years and the flow-on affect to local climate is impacting now. So if they float-your-boat, it’s time to get to Zermatt and the Southern Valais Region now?
your videos are one of the best that i have seen.. helped me so much to plan my trips. Thanks
i went on this trip on my 60th birthday-it was amazing
Dear Dennis Callan, this is a place my wife, Sima Akter, and I shall visit as soon as possible. Thanks, Dennis!

It was filmed in May. Early June will be perfect, plenty of snow up top, but trails will be clear.

Hi! Could you do a video about Saas Fee? :)
Hello, will I get to see and touch snow sat the top of gornergrat at the end of July?
Probably not. You'll see in parts of my video where the snow is gone and we are standing on rocks, photographed in late June. There are glaciers on adjacent mountains you will see, but Gornergrat station is not at a glacier.

Yes. I could have died there with walking through snow up to my waist. Quite memorable trip from Geneva on the train. Good chocolate candy too.
