    Hi!
This is my first youtube video!
    I’m Megan and I’m 19 y/o.
I play guitar for 1,5 year now, so I’m a little late with making this video😁
    I started playing when I was 17.
I filmed the progress for myself and didn’t know I was going to upload it on UA-cam, that’s why I looked like a homeless most of the time😂
I made this video cause I like to see progress from other people myself! So I hope you’ll like this video!😊
(I hope you can hear what I say at the end.. My English is not so great😂)

the guitar looks bigger than you almost.don't worry about looking homeless I always look homeless in my videos and I've been playing for almost 30 years and I'm sloppy as hell...... All that matters is you're having fun nothing to prove to anybody else as long as you're happy doing what you do that's all that matters. My 22-year-old daughter just bought her husband his first Stratocaster Olympic White.. she surprised him he cried....lol.I hope he learns how to play really sloppy so we can play together 😁

Go for it! You WILL play very well in the end, it's just practice, over and over again... you will feel it come together for sure. Remember, if you REALLY feel an attraction to a special hobby, or playing an instrument, you will see how much love and time you dedicate to it.
when you put your heart and EVERYTHING you have into it, you get sucked in to a whole different world of expression!
But most importantly, enjoy your guitar playing, and get to know your guitar!
It's nice to see a Stratocaster being used, I personally have a special love for my guitars, but my no #1 is an older Stratocaster, it never lets me down. :-)

I can play most stuff, sultains of swing, little wing, castles made of sand, comfortably numb ect but i always watch these videos and think i progressed so much faster than them and i wouldve probably quit if it was that slow, but your progression was very simmilar to mine, going from essentially nothing to fairly competent in a year.

(even 10 minutes will show progress if you really spend it all repeating the heck out of something) You'll notice it becomes quite a bit easier after a couple of days. I only used youtube, and learned the songs I wanted to learn. I did a lot of finger exercises before I started to play. And also trained my right hand, cause the picking hand is also very important!

I love it! The first electric song is a Queen song. The 70's Classic rock band with the biggest ongoing appeal to younger audiences. By far! My daughters shrug at most of my musical tastes. My eldest called it "Dad's old timey music" when she was about 10. But Queen, then know. Also AC/DC, because of the Marvel movies. (Tony Stark likes them).
I also notice a lot of taste for RHCP. They've held up very well over the years, too, and have stayed current. You play a lot of nice stuff, and you are doing quite well. I didn't make that much progress in my first year.

    • @seanbaines

@@meganbreinburg7544 I'm seeing a lot of 1 year progress videos out there these days, from all kinds of age groups from pre-teen up to older than me. It's very encouraging. I suspect the pandemic might have something to do with it, but I'm hoping it's also a sign of a burgeoning desire to make one's own music. That's where great music comes from. Cultures where making one's own music at home, amongst friends and family, or one's close community, is routine. I love hearing all this home music again. I really hope as many of us as possible keep this up, and keep sharing. I gotta get over myself, and figure out how to put up some to share. Be part of the process, not just an observer. Great stuff Megan, and everyone else doing this. Let's hear more.

My mom is so unsuportive and always been like ..that since childhood. I'm 21 and she didn't change. I wanted to buy myself an electric guitar but i don't feel any motivation... even though i always wanted to learn to play the electric guitar. I did learn to play the bass guitar when i was 15 but i sold it bc my christian brother kept saying it's a satanic instrument and my mother said she just doesn't like it and that i should've got a violin because she loves violin and "that is the most (and only) beautiful sounding instrument". So then i sold my bass and bought a violin. I learned to play it but since then i was so unhappy and now that i don't play the violin anymore, everyone is bugging and annoying me saying i shouldn't have stopped playing that instrument and everyone seems disappointed in me.
No one ever supported me. I only had this mom that always demotivated me when it comes to any hobby that i had or i wanted to have and so i gave up on every hobby i had. I now feel numb and sometimes too sad.
No hobby, no social life, no job, no one there to understand, no motivation to do anything. No wonder i became such a depressed mess :).....
