Wonderful dress and you looked so pretty in it! Thank you for demistifying the dressmaking process! I've always felt that sewing is very hard and dressmaking pretty impossible but after watching your videos I've began to feel that actually I too could be able to sew myself a dress 😊🎉
I've always loved wrap dresses, they are flattering for most figures, and one of those styles that never seems to date, it's usually the fabric choice that can date them.
My mum was married in 1952, and wore a wrap dress as her "going away" outfit. She chose a solid colour, a soft blush pink, so she could wear it for quite a while afterwards. Being post-war, fabric was still being rationed, so some of the family and friends gave her ration coupons as bridal shower/wedding gifts, to make her wedding dress and going away dress.

When I was in my 20s, I regularly spent Saturday mornings (or the occasional Saturday afternoon) making something to wear out that same evening! I'd have an idea, make a quick sketch then draft a pattern from that, I was accustomed to drafting patterns from photos as it was part of my job as a costume maker at Sovereign Hill (the living gold rush era museum in Ballarat, Vic), People would send us photos of Victorian era apparel they found in or under their houses when renovating and we would recreate them. I learnt so much there.
It's been years since I've made any clothes for myself - perhaps this summer!

I really love this dress and would love to see you create this dress again with more instructions, such as for the wrap style and sleeves. I would love to know how to make wrap dresses and skirts because I think they would be an easy item for a beginner because the sizing doesnt have to be perfect. Thank you for these videos. I am having so much fun watching a learning from you :)

Love this. I made myself a wrap around dress similar to this in my teens, so about 55 years ago now ... I loved that dress so much and have been wanting to make one for myself ever since! So, I think I'll bite the bullet and give it a try to see if I can repeat it .... but probably with double the amount of fabric! lol. My original dress had the armholes coming in a bit from the edge, and I'll try making the same pretty ruffles that my original dress also had going around the neck and all the way down to the hem of the dress ... but as I'm older I'll probably also add a 2/3 ruffle (bias cut) on the arm holes too ... V necks are more flattering for women with fuller busts and a waist with a bias cut skirt if one also has a bit of a tummy. It's almost mid May and it's still summer here in Hervey Bay so anything with a sleeve gets very little use up here ... Actually, I might even try a gathered waist and a bias skirt to see which is more flattering before cutting into good fabric.

Hi ,you want to know how much fabric for a size 10 dress .. ask yourself what kind of dress .. with long or short sleeves ,somewhere in between ,a straight skirt or full , ruffled.. or not ?long or mini ? or somewhere in between?what about the neckline ? round, ,deep ? how round or how deep ? ruffles around it ? what about a sash ,or not .. are you thin or chubby .. that is a question that can not be answered easily .. go to a WalMart or a fabric store and look at the pattern envelopes ..there are a lot of styles ,and look at the backs of those envelopes .. then decide you will see what I mean ..l ol God bless you ❤
