The way you used the pin to mark the paper.. Game changer 😅 thank you for this! Great video!
LITERALLLY
The mustard dress suits you so well! you've done a good job Janelle!
Thanks so much! Mustard is one of my favourite colours 😍
I like the one she made better than the original. Mustard is a great shade 👍🏼
I just got interested in sewing this week, started with making a simple curtain and am hoping to also recreate dresses very soon. thanks for your tutorials
Yay good for you! It’s so much fun 💕
Fantastic job, Janelle - looks exactly the same. I have lots of favourite clothes that are too small for me now. This has inspired me to clone them and grade them up. As they're too small, I may actually take them apart to make the cloning easier.
Your fabric is gorgeous! ! You made that look so easy
I think the second dress is better than the first. You have grown in your skill levels.
A perfect remake of your thrift dress Janelle. Looks so lovely on you. Another great video. x
You did amazing! Thank you for sharing this process! 🥰
You made that look so easy! Iv never made clothes but I'm going to try to clone one of my basic style dress that I love. Thankyou
You and Annika are my favourite sewing UA-camrs!! Hope you are staying safe during this time 😊❤
Thank you so much! I hope you’re safe too 💕
Love this! You make it look so easy.
Aww thank you! 😊🧡
Wow. I'm binge watching your videoes. You are so talented
Thanks so much 💕😊
I have a dress exactly like that but is polka dots and it’s my favorite dress too. This has given me an idea to copy the pattern
Ooh all the best with it! 😍
You are slow and methodical with how you explain things which makes it easy to follow. Thank you! Great video.
I really like that you listed needed supplies, for this project, at the beginning. It seems silly to say that but I just watched a few similar videos and the girls just got right into it without explaining what's needed. I'm a newbie and I need it explained like a baking recipe. LOL. Thank you so much for this video and thank you for talking at a speed that I can understand. 😄 A++
That dress is adorable
Well done and super cute! Just my way of sewing! Love and hugs ❤️👵🏻👶🏻
Can you please show how to copy the clothing piece if it has a dart in. 😊
Did you ever find a video? I could use some help!
@@cookiemosner same!!!
Did anything ever come of this?! Would love to know

Just so great!
One of the best videos I"ve found so far on youtube. Thanks!
This is great! Your natural speaking voice is lovely.
A fall/autumn color.all you make is my kinda dress, all are my fave. I did follow you on ig
Another great idea! Your dress looks better than the original.
Great result, well done.
Loved this video!
I got fabric and thread, I’m going to finally attempt to bring my designs to life
How exciting!! Have fun sewing 😍
Great tutorial! Very clear instructions 😀
Thank you! 😊
I'm in love with your channel!
Thanks so much! That’s really nice to hear 💕
Beautiful!!!
Thank you!
So helpful! Thank you! How do you know whether or not a piece is to be cut on along the grainline?
I think your dress looks much nicer! 🥰
Hi love the way you made it simple and easy to make a dress but I am confuse in how do do you trace a dart in a dress as that is sewn in
I am so in love with that dress and the mustard fabric! Do you happen to have this pattern available as a template??
I have a dress i love that cost me £5 in the sale but it becoming worn. Going to us this to recreat some more. Thanks Janelle.
Yay glad you found this video helpful! 😊🧡
Thank you so much! Great job. It's my dream to recreate my favorite dresses and shirts. The dress you made however looked a little tight on you, also shorter and the sleeves look shorter. Do you have any suggestions how to avoid that?
I was tasked with creating costumes for my theater club this year, totally looking for avice and help because I have no clue where to start!
I definitely want to try this! How do you know how much fabric to buy?
Great job 👍
AMAZING VIDEO! Thank you so much!
It’s quite funny but I just made the Nancy Dress from Sew Over It and it’s near or nough a copy of your dress! Apart from that I’m also a fan of copying ready made clothes, I’ve done it a lot. I usually measure a bit more to be sure and use a dressmaking ruler to get nice curves. I find it a bit tricky to copy bust darts but with some trial and error it works out in the end. Thanks for sharing!
I LOVE YOUR WHAT YOU'RE WEARING 😍!!!!!!!
Thank you! 💕
I would have loved to see how you hemmed the neck a little closer. Super cute dress.
Wow, fantastic!! 😃 thanks!!
Beautiful! Thank you ❤️Just adore these videos! Now I feel like I have a friend to sew with! 😄💗💕
That’s so nice! Glad you’re enjoying my videos! 💕
So lovely! Interesting way the dress is put together. Would love to try this out. 💙 Is there a template of this that you could share?
It’s so interesting isn’t it?! Unfortunately I don’t have a template of this one to share.
I can't wait to try this out! How did you account for the darts when making the back pattern pieces?
Hi Love your sewing videos. Please can you let me know what type of fabric you are using. Thank you very much.
I have an alright machine but nothing fancy in the slightest. Its a basic one. Can I make a dress on it. Its a brother one. Bought it for like £100 or something.
My goal this year is to make at least 1 item of clothing. This has inspired me . Thank you xx
I love this style of dress what would u call it.
How do you trace the darts though? You kind of skipped that bit
Thank you.
From Vietnamese with love! 💕
I think new one looks better than the original one 😍♥️
Thanks so much! 😊💕
I think the one you made is even cuter!!!
Interested in knowing how the darts we're traced/allowed for from the existing dress. Thank you 😊
Great question! However long the dart measures along the bottom (the amount of fabric folded), add this length to the bottom of the bodice pattern. I hope this helps!
Thank you, I'll give it a go ❤
Qute dress the black with the white flowers. What fabric is?You have pattern for this one?
Such a beautiful dress on you! I'm curious how you traced the pieces with the (already
sewed) darts on to the wrapping paper? Thanks x :)
I think she just poked holes in the paper beneath?
Thank for the tutorial! Just wondering when you trace the segment of the dress that has the dart, do you need to add extra width to it to account for the dart ? x
Yes you do 😊
Okay, Thanks 😊
Super
After tracing out the pieces, how would you expand them? I'm thinking of tracing pattern pieces from a dress I have, but expand them out several inches so I can recreate it to fit me.
How did you deal with the darts. You show them on the pattern but not how you worked them out so as not to duplicate (if that makes sense). If you simply draw around the panels that has the dart included. If you then ad a dart that is a duplicate & reduces the size. Thanks
Did I miss the part that goes over how to incorporate the darts into the pattern? I love your videos. They are simple, effective in communicating the process of making your own clothing, and they are so relaxing. :)
Copy them exactly how they are in the original dress 😊 Thank you so much for your kind words! So happy you enjoy my videos 💕
@@RoseryApparel But they are already sewn in the original dress, you aren't saying how we make allowances on the pattern for the extra fabric needed to make a dart?!
Do you always wash your fabric before making a garnment?
Yes just in case the fabric shrinks when washed!
Do you add seam allowance?
Wow
10/10
Yours looks better!
How do I clone a dress that's a size medium like it's a size 10 a.d I'm a size 16 USA size. So how do I make a pattern bigger from.the small dress
Likely will need to disassemble the dress. Measure the dress and then Measure your self. You will likely need quite alot of paper for increasing the size to your current measurements. Also, trace the original dress pieces so that way you are only expanding out the measurements that are truly needed asso to not make excessive amounts of work and headache for you. Best of luck.
Plz make long dungary dress vidio plzzze❤️
How did you identify and copy the darts on your pattern? I wish you had shown this, I’m not sure how to do that accurately.
Süpeeerrr 🥰💯⚘👏
How long did this take
How did you put the dart into the pattern? That important step seems to have been missed… I see you sewing it, but how did you get it into the pattern in the first place?
Great Job! And thank you for this video, I noticed you used 2 sewing machines for this dress, is there a reason why you did?
I use an overlocker (serger) and a sewing machine. The overlocker gives a nice finish to the raw edges of the fabric making it look nice and professional!
how about dresses gathered with elastic
You would just have to estimate how much fabric has been gathered (usually it would be the length of the bottom of the gathered skirt, so a rectangle shaped pattern piece). Hope this helps!
Are these dresses knit?
The mustard is a crepe and the navy is like a rayon type fabric. They don’t have any stretch 😊
You didn't show how to measure the bodice in order to make the darts
Maybe3 I missed something but about 4 minutes in you show darts on the pattern piece to be transferred to the new fabric. You did not explain how to copy the darts from the starting garment to the pattern piece??
Thanks
Why does the paper look folded and wrinkly?
I noticed that you used two different machines when sewing the dress...Singer and Brother. Is there a reason why you used two instead of one machine for the entire dress?
Its very fast plz make a vidio slow 😘
You dont show how to reproduce the dart 😢
Oh No
you didnt tell us how to create the dart on the paper pattern ?
I copied a cotton blouse, and mede it with chiffon. They looked nothing alike. Using the same fabric is key. My blouse turn out good. But if you want the same fit you need the same type of fabric.
This is so not as easy as I thought it would be
