I got an MPC, a Maschine and FL, but I've been using FL since FL2 so I'm comfortable with it. Ppl need to get over that shit. It's what comes out, not what you use.
way to build; I still use FL9 & it's not what you're using, it's how you use it...nothing against the hardware, but when the software came about, everybody laughed calling it cut-n-paste..that's fine, I love to create with it, when cats hear it they ask what I use, they say how you make it sound like that? play & master family...play & master...
i used to use FL 9 but recently upgraded to a mpc1000 ,turntable and some records. But honestly there's been beef over software and hardware for a while now...remember people it doesnt matter what you're using, what matters is whats coming out of you're speakers and thats real shit. FL protools reason, mpc, sp 1200 roland whatever the fuck you're using just keep making good music man that's all that matters
that is what the fuck is up. i thought i was the only one who felt the way about chopping up the sample first and building the drums around it. laying down a drum track first makes shit seem so constrained..it's so much better to get the soulful part and then add the drums
this is a great interview. This is the second one I seen and I m a big fan of him now. Just how humble he is and how excited good hip hop makes him, I appreciate that, we need that. Not hate in dudes bones at all and he keeps it real and respects other producers
it is amazing to see what he did with Fruity Loops. He couldn't afford and MPC.. Goes to show it isn't about what you have for gear but rather the creativity within you.
I just started choppin'. 9th is one of my favs and I am learning alot. I feel him on the soul cuz that's what I feel when I'm doing my biz. This beat gotem trippin' so I'm choppin from here on out. I used to diss chopping but not anymore.
sampling is a lot easier on the mpc, and so is drum programming, but you can do more with FL. The thing that really matters is the sound going in, its all about the keyboards and vsts and soundfonts
EXACTLY!!!! just use what brings out the best in your music. people gotta stop debating i cant stress that any further. if your good at what you use dont belittle another program that you might not comprehend or know how to use and if there is another producer that uses another program or another method of production dont say your method is better than his just give that man credit for making it sound good. show love dont hate and make good music. peace!!!!
I have been using FL stince '02 and I learned how to insert State-of-the-art DX and VSTfx plugins on the sends. I even use low-latency proxy plugins and multithreading buffering freeze proxy plugins and I only utilize 60 percent of my CPU, fam with like 25 VSTi/VSTfx's simultaneously running! So I learned how to compress, harmonically and linear EQ my joints to sound like they were done at the former Chung STudios or some shit.
9th is dope, real talk his mix to hiero's make your move is amazing.... he came to my school and i met him, hes cool people this man is a legend in the making alot of people go to sleep on him
Hey bro just want to let you know i used to watch your videos back then when you would flip them al green samples you inspired me and my cousins and we been cooking up ever since!
i thought fl studio was going to suck because i always saw rappers using that high tech stuff and expensive soundbooths. then i started and i realized it is extremely capable and good tool to use.
yo shout out to fl studio users man! it dont matter wat u use to make beats, as long as they sound good n u didnt steal from nobody! so ye but 9th has been a real inspiration and hes one of my favorite producers so god bless him and good luck with future productions!
Mannnnn!!! I have the same mindset, I hear a sample and the chop comes to mind and I try and recreate it!, My only struggle as a young producer is perfectly recreating what i heard in my mind. But im workin on it.
to each his own. like i said use what brings out the best in your music. its not a complicated arguement. all that really matters is how it sounds to you and if you have a good enough ear it will sound good to everybody else. i found my comfort using reason and it brings out the best in my music so thats what im going to use. plus any program can have all the features in the world but if you dont have the talent and the flexibility to operate it then its not going to sound good.
I wish i could sit down with this dude & pick apart his brain! Im a beat maker from ohio. I mainly fuck with Reason & run it with my XL7 & M Audio Trigger pads. I use Recycle, Cubase dabble a lil bit into Protools. But FL i never picked up on. Would be slick to get a crash course from this man! It is the person behind the machines. PPL used to knock me for using Reason back inda day until they heard what i was pumpin out the speakers! I love choppin slicen whatever u want 2 call it.
9th Wonder is a great producer, and seems like a good cat. I've come to really appreciate his craft from listening to Little Brother. Man gets much respect from me.
mad video! one of my fav producers and one of my fav rappers. i agree with what he said. a lot of producers get caught up in stupid little details (such as oh that drum sounds been used before) that no average listener cares or even thinks about
9th wonder AMEN man AMEN!!! everything he says is on point...started making a couple of tracks myself with fl check it out...9th wonder soooo fuckin cool GREAT POST
A lot of folks make music too complicated, "I use Reason, Ableton, Sonar, Cakewalk, FL, A Triton, An MPC, Nobody cares!!! OK? It's all about what people hear once it's mixed, recorded, and done!!! I never just been chillin listenin' to music with my friends and someone says "Hey those MPC Drums are bangin' (unless I'm with some Musicians) Music is supposed to be heartfelt, from the soul no matter what kind it is. Love it, Make it, Sell It!!!!
9th and Murs = AMAZING! the 3rd Murs 9th edition is coming soon and will be free with Murs's new cd "Murs For President" so go Cop that cd and u get the new Murs 9th wonder cd. Think it comes out September 30th
ALOT of people will argue against this but its true. i use reason, mpc 1000 and nuendo. and u gotta be honest with urself, the MPC is very basic compared to software sequencers "nowdays" software has not just caught up but does more now. VSTs, u can route more than 2 effects (at least up to mpc 2500) at once etc. the only diff i see is the quantize resolution of MPC but u can pull that off if ur experienced. may be a bit harder for new comers.
he's absolutely right about that all that criticism is just the world- talking shit but not getting on the boards and decks themselves Murs is right...
wow that's the same way I make beats, only I use mp3s but the point is, I listen to stuff and hear a sample, then sing different ways of re-arranging it, then make that sample idea a reality in FL Studio. so its kinda cool hearing a bigtime producer like 9th wonder does the same thing i do :)
9th wonder : "man i dont care. i love critcism, i learn from it man" Lil wayne: "im the best alive, i got the most money in the game." i thank god everyday for artists like 9thwonder.
Dope... However, if you check out BeatGenerals in UA-cam there is FL studio instructions showing you how to make beats, mix beats, master beats, etc for people that needs a little extra help and / or maybe attempting to start to improve..
i have drum refills on my reason program, u can use stock drums, just add reverbs and tweak the sounds around to where they dont even sound stock, but do what u do, if u like to chop record drums then do ya'll thing my beat brothas and sistas.
yo there are 2 types of artists but sampling is never gonna go away...some of the best beats are sampled and on the other side of the coin u get the hard ass composed beats...either way if they help the artist get their point accros then its a good beat...personally, i like sampled beats..and on certain days i go for some composed depeding on the song...either way HIPHOP IS THEE SHIT!!!
@PERGJASKI I thinks the talk about it not being pro comes from people who have never used the software or DONT know how to use it. From my experience it is a must have if you're into producing. And there's always shit u could add on from samples to plugins etc...The point is it's up to u whether ur music is professional or not but as far as FL...it has the capabilities
and you my friend recognize real talent thus leaving ur comment to be relevant to this board discussion lol..r.i.p dilla u are a legend.. and 9th u are my nigga u are a real ass producer keep up the real hip hop love
Just a comment on how people sample other people's drums.... I think everyone samples other people's drums. Any producer that uses the MPC drum library uses drum samples from other bands (like the "Impeach the President" drum loop everyone uses or the "Synthetic Substituion" loop). That includes the RZA, Pete Rock, Premo, Dilla, anyone. Where do you think the drum sounds actually came from? Unless you're the Roots or you got a live drum set, you use drum samples from other people.
mpc is supa dupa live...but u cant really master on it. do vocals. it has 2 b loaded. u have 2 get sounds 4 it. u still have 2 take it 2 a studio. fl is a virtual studio. u ain't gotta take it nowhere , but 2 the bathroom if u gotta shit. i have an mpc inside the fl studio...same as that $4500 mpc...
Hey man this is really really crazy. Because he's saying the same shit that i've been trying to tell my friends like, They be teasing me getting mad because in on Fl studio like a lot and im making some beats cus i really wanted to make beats because ONE of Dj quiks songs inspired me so i wanted to make beats then i put my beats and songs on myspace shitt everybody like it! soo one day man one day.
FL studio ows this man a Check
💯✅🎯
Super facts
9th is my God Producer. I've been trying to stop making fake 9th beats but that style is inescapable for me.
I got an MPC, a Maschine and FL, but I've been using FL since FL2 so I'm comfortable with it. Ppl need to get over that shit. It's what comes out, not what you use.
man he's so spot on about soul being a feeling not a type of music
way to build; I still use FL9 & it's not what you're using, it's how you use it...nothing against the hardware, but when the software came about, everybody laughed calling it cut-n-paste..that's fine, I love to create with it, when cats hear it they ask what I use, they say how you make it sound like that? play & master family...play & master...
Unk, that 12.5 update is legit!
i used to use FL 9 but recently upgraded to a mpc1000 ,turntable and some records. But honestly there's been beef over software and hardware for a while now...remember people it doesnt matter what you're using, what matters is whats coming out of you're speakers and thats real shit. that is what the fuck is up. i thought i was the only one who felt the way about chopping up the sample first and building the drums around it. laying down a drum track first makes shit seem so constrained..it's so much better to get the soulful part and then add the drums
Doesn't matter what you you use - It's what comes out in the end.
this is a great interview. This is the second one I seen and I m a big fan of him now. Just how humble he is and how excited good hip hop makes him, I appreciate that, we need that. Not hate in dudes bones at all and he keeps it real and respects other producers
i luv fruity loops
good fuck the high pitched sound here is killing my ears
I used FL 4-5 years alone before i got a mpc
Now I'm using a mpc and flstudio together, works perfect
Yeah it makes u see the work flow on both sides
Nothing wrong with fruityloops. The sequencer is great compared to many others.
i agree with you . the important thing is the sound going in . doesnt matter if you using fl , an mpc or a triton ..
it is amazing to see what he did with Fruity Loops. He couldn't afford and MPC.. Goes to show it isn't about what you have for gear but rather the creativity within you.
I am glad 9thwonder was created cuz his beats are extra nice
Beat wisdom speakin right there. The producer matters more than the program.
this is tight.. murs and 9th just chilling. real humble artist right here.
I just started choppin'. 9th is one of my favs and I am learning alot. I feel him on the soul cuz that's what I feel when I'm doing my biz. This beat gotem trippin' so I'm choppin from here on out. I used to diss chopping but not anymore.
I produce my tracks in fl studio its a great software knowing 9th wonder uses it makes it better!!!!
sampling is a lot easier on the mpc, and so is drum programming, but you can do more with FL. The thing that really matters is the sound going in, its all about the keyboards and vsts and soundfonts
EXACTLY!!!! just use what brings out the best in your music. people gotta stop debating i cant stress that any further. if your good at what you use dont belittle another program that you might not comprehend or know how to use and if there is another producer that uses another program or another method of production dont say your method is better than his just give that man credit for making it sound good. show love dont hate and make good music. peace!!!!
Soul music. Good shit 9th.
"everybody got soul, man"
GREAT ARTIST, GREAT MAN!!!!
I think he said, everybody ain't got soul
i used fl all my life so its easy for me to work with. fl works with any midi key and the sound is clear, its no dif from any other mpc or sfp's.
9th is dope, real talk his
mix to hiero's make your move
is amazing....
he came to my school and
i met him, hes cool people
this man is a legend in the
making
alot of people go to
sleep on him
Hey bro just want to let you know i used to watch your videos back then when you would flip them al green samples you inspired me and my cousins and we been cooking up ever since!
Amen!

i thought fl studio was going to suck because i always saw rappers using that high tech stuff and expensive soundbooths. then i started and i realized it is extremely capable and good tool to use.

the part he said about singing the samples was fuckin genius!
Mannnnn!!! I have the same mindset, I hear a sample and the chop comes to mind and I try and recreate it!, My only struggle as a young producer is perfectly recreating what i heard in my mind. But im workin on it.
You'll get it. Just make your chops and go from there.

to each his own. like i said use what brings out the best in your music. its not a complicated arguement. all that really matters is how it sounds to you and if you have a good enough ear it will sound good to everybody else. i found my comfort using reason and it brings out the best in my music so thats what im going to use. plus any program can have all the features in the world but if you dont have the talent and the flexibility to operate it then its not going to sound good.

I wish i could sit down with this dude & pick apart his brain! Im a beat maker from ohio. I mainly fuck with Reason & run it with my XL7 & M Audio Trigger pads. @TheNizah yea the program is very vast man. I started using it before it was called FL.
9th Wonder is a great producer, and seems like a good cat. I've come to really appreciate his craft from listening to Little Brother. Man gets much respect from me.
Murs=My fav rapper
9th= My fav producer
mad video! one of my fav producers and one of my fav rappers. i agree with what he said. a lot of producers get caught up in stupid little details (such as oh that drum sounds been used before) that no average listener cares or even thinks about

sick love 9th and murs one love
I use FL studio Prod Edition XXL,and are great, especially when i use that with the VSTi by Nature Instruments or IK Multimedia..are like the cubase sx
word. as long as u have talent and skills it shouldn't matter that much.
i have drum refills on my reason program, u can use stock drums, just add reverbs and tweak the sounds around to where they dont even sound stock, but do what u do, if u like to chop record drums then do ya'll thing my beat brothas and sistas.
glasspig: I basicaly agree, but using music software is a good way to learn theory- probably the best way
murs and 9th you cant go wrong wit them two
9th wonder needs to produce for Lupe Fiasco...that combo would be like Nas and Premier...amazing
Yeah, I use it too, I love it!
9th is the illest sample chopper and he from the south.
yo there are 2 types of artists but sampling is never gonna go away...some of the best beats are sampled and on the other side of the coin u get the hard ass composed beats...either way if they help the artist get their point accros then its a good beat...personally, i like sampled beats..and on certain days i go for some composed depeding on the song...either way HIPHOP IS THEE SHIT!!!

@SWITCHPRODUCTIONS100

A classy guy. Not a single curse word flow out of his mouth.
