Take the FAL-O, the Minimi (known here in the US as the M249'er), the "Maximi" (the 7.62 NATO version of the Minimi), the 5-7, the P90, the FN-HiPer, the 505, the M2HB-QCB, ... .

Assault rifles are rifles used by an assault team.
Therefore the bolt action rifle was the assault rifle of those times.

An assault rifle is a military select fire intermediate cartridge (5.56 these days) rifle as opposed to a civilian use semi automatic version which is not an assault rifle. It is also different from a battle rifle being a military select fire full size cartridge rifle (typically 7.62 NATO in the western world). So yes all of the rifles in the video are assault rifles and yes there are civilian versions of all of them which are not assault rifles.
You could have just mentioned the 5.56 and 7.62 without the bs made up name of assault rifle. You just lost any clout you thought you had. The term was coined recently to demonize semi-automatic rifles. A rifle has no ability to assault anyone.. a person uses an object (any) to assault someone. You can get your head out or your ass now.

@@wernervanderwalt8541 the FAL, one of my favorites , is a battle rifle .. Assualt rifles are select fire , medium caliber light weight carbines .... FAL is a battle rifle, large caliber etc. often used in the designated marksman role or as sniper rifles
A pretty comprehensive group of assault rifles but I'm surprised there's no mention of the FN SCAR, it's used by many Special forces worldwide in both 6.5 and 7.62 x 51mm and will shortly be issued as standard infantry issue to a few NATO armed forces. also IMO an honourable mention should go to Galil rifles in the different forms it's been exported worldwide not just in 5.56 and 7.62mm but in the various types such as ACE, SAR and sniper.
The SCAR H is chambered in a full size rifle cartridge so it's in the battle rifle category. The definition of an assault rifle is a rifle chambered in an intermediate cartridge with the ability to switch between semiautomatic and fully automatic/burst fire

Great video! 👍 While I enjoyed learning about the featured assault rifles, I couldn't help but notice the absence of the MSBS Grot, which has gained recognition in Ukraine. It would have been interesting to see it included for analysis alongside the other rifles. I understand it's impossible to cover every rifle, but a more comprehensive list could have showcased newer, top-performing models. Nonetheless, the video was still engaging and informative. Keep up the good work!

IMO one of the best ARs is the FNC (particularly the Swedish version the AK5). Has all the best attributes of the 3 best small arms in the world, FAL, M16, AK47 thus eliminating the weaknesses of those weapons to make a bastard child that is close to perfection. I own one and like it better than my M16 for those reasons, as well as its rate of fire, adjustable gas system and 3 round reset when on burst. I can understand not placing it at number 1, due to weight, however it defiantly deserves to be in the top 5 as well as its replacement the SCAR. (Yes I am a big FN fan)

CZ BREN 2, FN SCAR, HK 416, SIG MCX, VHS-2, AK-12, Kord 5,45 and 7,62x39, L85A3, Galil ACE, Beretta ARX 160.... This video seems to have been made almost or more then a decade ago.

I gave an interest in 300 Blackout and Faxon 8.6 mm ammunition which work well with suppressors. They can fire supersonic or subsonic rounds. Subsonic rounds work well with suppressors. For stealth operations, like hostage rescue, 9 X 19mm ammunition has been commonly used in the past. 300BO and 8.6mm are much more powerful than 9mm as well as better range and accuracy. This type of ammunition could be much more useful. And these rounds are very compatible with westerns assault rifles and battle riffles. Often just needing a barrel change and tuning. Still using 5.56 and 7.62mm NATO magazines. The suppressed weapons can be useful for night fighting. The 300BO can fit with 5.56mmm weapons. While 8.6mm Faxon is much more powerful and used for battle rifles in 7.62mm NATO. An advantage of suppressors is reduced hearing damage. And they are bring increasingly used by the military.
My all time favorites: FN FAL, Imbel FAL, DS Arms FAL... Argentina FAL, South African FAL, Rhodesia FAL... British and Commonwealth L1A1 SLR, India L1A1, Australian & New Zealand L1A1 SLR

Yes! The FN was an elephant gun...easy to clean, tough, and simple. The UK, Australia and NZ replaced it with 5.56 mm shit...so it goes in our ever stupider world!
@@Heraclitus188 : US Army recognized its errors and should had gone back to the 7.62x51mm NATO, but instead it is going for the 6.8mm. I think there is a financial consideration, and the need to grease more wheels at the Pentagon and Fabrique Nationale USA. US could had easily returned to the 7.62x51mm NATO and it would make a lot more sense.
Definitely not indestructible! - nothing is - I cooked the barrel on mine after putting 10 x 20 round mags down range expending left over ammo on a whoopy shoot very quickly - it upset the Battalion armourer but the weapon was still working...just the barrel had a different colour!

The HK 416, VHS-2, FN Scar and the MSBS Grot are superior to pretty much all of these, with just the Tavor and G36 being on par with them. Literally all the others are outdated and completely outclassed.

After watching the video about the 8 assault rifles, I have some mixed feelings. While it was informative, I can't help but wonder why the MSBS Grot was not included in the lineup. As a rifle that has gained success in Ukraine, it would have been interesting to see it included and analyzed alongside the other rifles.
Of course, I understand that it's impossible to cover every single rifle out there in one video, but it would have been great to see a more comprehensive list that included some of these newer, top-performing rifles such as the MSBS Grot. Nonetheless, I still found the video to be interesting and informative, and I appreciate the work that went into creating it.

@@stigchristensen2597 nor mine native language either. the rifle you mention is a pre WWI model (thus 1903), also used during the conflict and WW2 besides the Garand firstly by marines in the Pacific Theater, but at the end replaced by the M1 Garand with which shared the same 30-06 cartridge. It was used until the end of WW2 in the role of sniper rifle. But it's far from being an assault rifle when it uses bolt action to feed ammo. So I hope that answers your question, or someday we'll start asking if 17th and 18th century muskets where also assault rifles. Cheers

I understand that it's impossible to get every single rifle but for example HS VHS-2 beat Ta-vor tar 21 and many other rifles in all the tests when french army did tests for new rifle and to put M 16 as no1 there is so many better rifles than that to pick just to say a few FN SCAR, H&K 416, L1A1 SLR and many other.

The L1A1 SLR is a Brit designation for the semi auto only version of the FN FAL, chambered in 7.62NATO - thus a Battle rifle and not an assault rifle; a similar error of comprehension is made by the video maker as the HK G3 is also not an assault rifle but a battle rifle

Dude.. there is no "best in the world" different rifles are built for different scenarios so there is mo clear winner. Although there is no better than the SIG550 in terms of accuracy and reliability. Even the ergonomics, it fits like a glove.

The FN FAL is a great weapon but not an assault rifle by definition. It's a battle rifle using a full-powered round rather than a modified round such as the 7.62 x 39 by the AK family. The same goes for the M14 and G3.

The G3 does outperform all the others. Penetration, range, optional magazine, reliability and stopping power.
SCAR heavy MK17? Maybe not the greatest, but way better than the G3. I've owned both and the SCAR is way better!!

7.62NATO is considered as a battle rifle cartridge, not assault rifle (chambered with intermediate cartridges, like the the Brit L85 you mention - btw the A2 and mainly the A3 versions are pretty good, after HK "unbroken" the rifle)

Literally all of these are select fire military rifles chambered in intermediate cartridge (not the G3 though), as such, they are Assault Rifles by definition.
@@BloPsy__ semi auto non selective rifles in civilian markets are not assualt rifles. Full autos or even selective fire rifles are specifically for military or a civilian who has u believe a class 3 license in order to have.. the typical ar or ak rifles that millions have are not assualt

Plus if you can obtain a license the gunnwould have to have been made before 84' or 86'.. 99.9% of gun stores ONLY sell semi auto rifles and hand guns. NOT "ASSUALT" Weapons.. hence the reason saying there are no assualt weapons per the everyday common debate on rifles or handguns being assualt... if you wanted to be super specific then i would say ONLY military and very selective few can or have "assualt rifles".
The M16 might be listed as Nr.1 which it shouldn't be. It is one of the worst reliable frontline riffles out there, thus it should be listed as near last on the list. You need a riffle that is fully reliable in all circumstances in the battlefield arena.
