    I don’t really agree with the foul call on NE second goal. Doesn’t seem like much contact. If that’s a foul, there are 3 or 4 fouls every time someone takes a corner. But I could be wrong lol. Just didn’t see much in it.

    1:00 "... what we all see, that Malanda got a touch before making contact with Gomez" over footage that shows clearly that he made contact with Gomez first. Not sure if that makes it a foul or not, but it's clearly a false statement despite trying to convince our eyes otherwise!

      I question the timing as well. What I do see though is that the attacker was leaning into the defender even before the defender go there trying to create contact. I do question how clear and obvious this was, however, for VAR to get involved. Seems like more re-referring to me.

      As a Miami fan I still don't think there was enough in that to deem it as "making contact with Gomez first". If you're going to count his shorts/thigh brushing against Gomez' thigh, then I think you're reaching. He timed it to the last possible second and it was pretty risky but he looks to have pulled it off. Watch the first behind perspective, the upper leg isn't impacting Gomez, only sliding passed.

      @@zharth. How about the arm pulling on the shoulder/neck area? Check out the Major League Soccer highlights here on UA-cam. Pause at exactly 3:32. Clearly early contact on the shoulder/neck and lower body before contacting the ball. And I can't stand Miami...but can't stand referees more.

      Redbulls vs Atlanta had a similar one last week which was on Inside Video Review. What was interesting about that one was that VAR said live that there was a potential foul and then forgot about it once the recommended a review for a foul/PK.
      I feel like they are trying to get these off the ball fouls and impeding the opponent situations in the box under control which is great. Things will still be missed. No all of them will reach the level of clear and obvious to go to an on field review either.

      That was the something that originally was said. More recently I've heard 'excessively' gestures for a review. It basically falls under dissent. I know emotions are high in the heat of the moment, but it's funny to me when they do it because, as a PK was called, it 100% is going to be looked at by VAR which will recommend an on field review if they think one is justified.

    Andrew you are dead wrong on the Gomez PK. Freeze frame on the point right before he touches the ball. Defender is hanging on his shoulder, sliding in through the hip of Gomez from behind and made contact with the player BEFORE the ball. Is this a pen? • @paulreis3317
    @paulreis3317 10 годин тому +1

    Nope. Nope. Nope. The first one was without a doubt a penalty. Check out the Major League Soccer highlights and pause the video exactly at 3:32! Miami player senses the contact, sticks his leg out (like any good attacking player does) defenders arm is on the shoulder/neck area, there's contact through the lower body before the eventual contact of the ball. In real-time it may appear he "got the ball" first, but this is not the case, and besides, you can "get the ball" and it still be a foul! Defender was caught, it was from behind, and if you slow it down, clearly made contact/pulled back on the Miami player prior to luckily getting a touch of the ball. This should have been kept a penalty and second yellow. Love that we have all this technology at our disposal yet they continue to make terrible calls. You need CLEAR proof from the VAR to overturn the call on the field, CLEAR.

    • @MrCho14
      @MrCho14 31 хвилина тому

      I don't necessarily think this was a penalty, but I certainly don't think there was a clear error on the field. VAR should have stayed out of this and stopped re-referring the game. Whatever the call was on the field, there's no way it should have gone to an on field review.

  • @oliveroren5627
    @oliveroren5627 23 години тому +1

    That Charlotte tackle is ludicrous. Easy red and pen. You can't go through a player to get the ball.

    • @MoviesUnderTheSurface
      @MoviesUnderTheSurface 21 годину тому

      even if its a foul, there's no way that's a red. Several years ago it was, but not anymore

  • @magiccarpet9172
    @magiccarpet9172 День тому

    To be a foul, the ball must be in the field of play. If the contact is made when the ball is out of bounds, then it is not a foul but a misconduct - and not punishable by a free kick.
    Therefore, there is no penalty kick in favor of Suarez. However, the goal keeper should receive a yellow or red. That is the proper call.
