Well structured and great storytelling. Good job Matt. For being as young as you are, and with the disability of being American (I assume), you exhibit substantial football knowledge.

I didnt appreciate him when he was playing, because Im a Liverpool fan and her made us and the rest of the Pl miserable, but what a player he was. One of the best PL strikers.

The amount of pressure Barcelona put on Chelsea the final goal of Torres. The way he celebrated over Valdes. This feels so far away now. 2010s football will be missed for sure. I feel like i dont enjoy the game has much i used to. It might only be me.
No no no. Chelsea NEEDED that goal. Remember this Barcelona team was THE greatest team ever. And they were playing like lions against Chelsea. Chances were that it could have gone Barcelona's way (another goal instead of a tie) but Torres's goal sealed the deal.
love this, but (and myb ive been msiinformed) i was surprised u didnt mention that he went and played at the world cup ignoring the advice of his doctors, making his alr bad injury worse, basically sacrificing his career for the world cup trophy. he ended up getting redemption but yea important detail
You are right! I didn't highlight it as much in the video other than a quick mention, but it seems very likely that rushing back from injury to play in the 2010 World Cup made things a lot worse and led to the run of bad form post-2010 World Cup.
Let's not forget he also scored next year in the Europa League final won by Chelsea, got the corner from which Drogba scored in the UCL final, had 11 goals and 15 assists in the UCL winning season and 23 goals 8 assists in the next season. He wasn't a flop, it's just media creating expectations for him to be the best player in the world.
I remember not even being able to see this game because I was working a teaching job. The moment I finished the lesson I ran into the nearest pub and at that moment I saw torres skip past the keeper to score and the whole place exploded with excitement and joy. It was absolutely phenomenal…
Of all the natural strikers of that era he was my favorite, no matter what club he played for. So I got to watch this match at my friend’s house. What a moment.

That move on the Manchester keeper where Fenando missed the target, was so damn smooth though, if he did finish, it would have been one of the prettiest breakaway goals of all time.
I loved Torres at Chelsea, he didnt score many goals but he worked his socks off for the team. Shevchenko was the same, not prolific but a real team player and high workrate.
To me the goal by Ramires is the all time best goal ever scored. The absolute coolness in chipping Valdez like that is still giving me the chills after all these years. I'm not even a Chelsea fan but there's something in that goal that moves me. The pressure Chelsea were under facing the reigning champion and the best team in the world at the time with an interim manager and to pull that upset off. What a story!
Great story telling. I loved football bc of following Fernando Torres. He is still my favorite striker.
