This is a primer (and/or refresher) for getting started with shooting iPhone timelapses... in an upcoming video we'll cover 3rd party apps and more advanced techniques. What are some of your favorite timelapse apps we should look at?
Wow.! this was great after seen these time lapse I have started my own UA-cam channel for time lapse, from shooting on iphone, and editing also done by iphone imovie application I’m really thank you for giving me this idea now, I have my own subscribers more than 1000 thanks a lot you’re the best .
Manfrotto makes GOOD stuff!! I have a phone mount, that’s bomb proof! Even though it’s plastic, thing is tough! Tripod fell over a few times.. luckily no phone in it
Thank you so much for this tutorial! We’ll try time laps to record my art process! Your time laps at the lake was so beautiful, showing the movement of the water which is usually hard to see! And the cyclists and joggers on the bridge and the last one top with the clouds and soccer players!
Slumming it by doing animation on those old fashioned DSLR Cameras, good job that you aren’t old enough to remember using Super 8 with single frame exposure switches, and if you were lucky an intervalometer if you could find or afford one!
THANK YOU! I just want to say you inspired me to create a channel for our traveling. 😍 although my channel is new, i’m going to put out more contents with🔥
Doesn’t airplane mode cutt off connection to cell and data meaning you shouldn’t get notifications anyway? So do u still need to turn off notifications?
Thanks for this. I have a queen of the night plant that I want to get the flower opening through the night. I will practice. How long can I leave the time lapse running for as I need 8pm to 6am. Thanks again 😊
This might not be the best app for that as it will make the final result a fairly short video. You should consider other dedicated timelapse apps like SkyFlow. But you could try with this and just be sure to use power to your phone or a USB battery otherwise it won’t last.
Your videos are so well done. Thank you for taking the time to make them higher level. And thank you for the great audio mix! Even pros on UA-cam still don’t get it right.
This is a great basic video. Question: The opening and closing of a birthday cake box for example, is that time lapse? or is that a special effect? Thx
If you mean to make it look like it’s animated that would be stop motion. You shoot one frame at a time and reposition the box/lid at each moment of the action, then edit that together later.
Hiya, Im doing a sponsored 24hr readathon and I’d like to make a time lapse of it. I’d like to be able to just film the whole way through so it’s one continuous clip, but do you think it will be far too rushed if the whole thing ends up 20-40 seconds? I’d like a 4 or 5 minute clip that didn’t take up too much storage on my phone. I know this is so picky, but do you have any tips for that or any apps that would work well? Would there be a chance my phone would make a clip that’s a few minutes long rather then 40 seconds? I’m also concerned about the video being too long. Really sorry for being annoying, lovely video by the way
For shooting something that long wouldn’t really recommend using a phone. You’ll need to power it for sure as battery won’t last that long while shooting. So a GoPro or traditional camera would be best. If your phone is your choice then use an app like Filmic Pro where you can set the interval, meaning how often it captures a frame. For something that long would probably set it to 30 seconds. Then you’ll get 120 frames per hour and so 2880 frames total. Then if you do 24fps playback for your editing you’d have a 2 minute timelapse. Or if you want more frames do one every 15 or 10 seconds. There are dedicated timelapse apps too like SkyFlow. Good luck!
Well in this case timelapse is just video, not a series of photos. However the way it’s captured is completely different than just speeding up video. So it actually looks different and it will make your file size much smaller too. Say you’re recording a 30 minute clip that would be a 30 minute long video clip and a timelapse video would be a fraction of that run time. Thanks for watching!
What is the benefit of recording in timelapse mode in comparason whit recording in normal mode and speed up the video (i guess the memory space saving is the only benefit because of much lower frame rate)? And yes, sory if my english is litle broken XD. Thansk a lot!!
That’s one reason, sort of, but just speeding up the video isn’t technically a timelapse since you have every frame recorded. With timelapse you record a frame every few seconds or sometimes every minute and so it will look different too.
I love this channel! Straight up favorite! Question: What ND filter did you use over the Moondog Labs via the adapter? I love the looks you get, so was just wondering. Thanks!
Thanks! Appreciate you watching. We mostly use a Tiffen ND .9 (3 stops). It’s a 58mm and the Moondog mount is 52mm, so we add a step down ring. If you haven’t seen this video we talk a little bit about it and a couple other ones... ua-cam.com/video/6wtsFIH0D98/v-deo.html
@@iphoneographers - Thanks, man. I just finally caved in and bought myself the Helium Core, as well as a wooden handle. Sort of crafting my rig based on your "Wish List" video. Hope that isn't corny, but I really like what you've got going.
Yes with dedicated timelapse apps like Skyflow, although probably not the best use for the phone because of battery and depending on the location - overheating. If you go with a phone definitely test it first or you might consider a GoPro or a traditional camera.
Hi dear sir. I’m shawn thank you for show us this hack using our iPhone to shoot time-lapse n show us how to lock the ae/ lock but how to unlock it back to default ? Shawn Sincerely.
Lol what if I don’t have a tripod or a car or even a window? Errr I know! Take a tap stick the phone onto my forehead. How ba dae? Lol anyway thanks for the tips. I didn’t even know my iPhone have the time-lap button. I took my phone for granted damn thanks man appreciated that 👍🏻
i used previously iphone 6 and make timelapse it is very fast and good but now in my 6s timelapse is not fast as compare to iphone 6 can you help me how to make fast timelapse on my iphone 6s
When using the native app it automatically sets the speed depending on how long you shoot the timelapse, so it can vary. Try shooting something with good motion and for 10 minutes and see what happens.
Using this native camera app it auto edits to a length, so it’s hard to say using it. Typically we’d shoot something for 5-10 minutes range. Using more advanced apps you can set the number of frames to capture... So often we’ll shoot 300 frames at a 2 sec interval and then when you play that back at 30fps you’ll have a 10 second timelapse. So in this case you’re also looking at about 10 minutes. In the end it really depends on what kind of timelapse you’re shooting to determine the length.
You can’t do that using the native app (it creates short timelapse), but using a third-party app you can. And it all depends on the interval you use - how often you take a shot. For example, one shot every 10 seconds for 24fps playback you’d have to shoot 20 hours to create a 5 min. timelapse.
Please clarify as I got confused. Turn AE/AF Lock ON if I am shooting general scene...but turn AE/AF Lock OFF if I want to show lighting changes? Thank you in advance for your reply.
Leave it locked all the time for best results. If it’s on the exposure will shift with the environment, so it would then change with the sun and you probably don’t want that.

very good video thank you so much
Is it better than the Timelapse proposed by Filmicpro?
It’s easier to use but not better. In FP you can set the interval and frame rate. Also you can shoot in 4K.
@@iphoneographers thanks!
I have some difficulties to obtain good set up with FP. I will check if there is any advice on your channel. 😁
Heyy, please let me know how can we change the speed in time lapse in iphone 13 do we have an option for it or don’t? Thank you🤗
No, not in camera. You could do that in post production though, sort of.
Can you edit what parts of the video you want to apply time lapse?
You’d have to shoot separate videos and edit them together. If you shoot timelapse it’s all timelapse in that one file.
can I make the play-back slower..? but faster than slow-mo?
You have a very good presentation...
Thanks for watching!
What about the kick frame option when your shooting in the dark?
It was this easy but other yt have just been using crazy apps :0

When and where in the editor's timeline do we add motion blur to our timelapse?
Depends on the editing app. Some have it built in, others might require a 3rd party plug-in.

Can I adjust the time lapse speed? Or is it just auto?

No you can’t using the native app. It is set for you. You need to use a third-party app like Skyflow.

Any way/apps to lengthen the video or slow down the time lapse so it’s more than a 3hr video condensed to 30secs?
Check out the SkyFlow app.
How long can I let it run?
Until the battery dies or it overheats, so a long time if you’re in the shade and are plugged in. :)
Is there any way to set frame in iPhone
The timelapse interval in the native app is auto set and the final frame rate is 30fps. If you want manual control try an app like SkyFlow.

Hii... what minimum time we should shoot a vedio in timelapse for a perfect vedio?
Using this native camera app it auto edits to a length, so it’s hard to say using it. Typically we’d shoot something for 5-10 minutes range.
