I love how much joy you have for fibre, wool and spinning. Had a little chuckle when you said that you don't think you will be one of those '30 support spindles in their herds folks', support spindle spinning is my favourite way to spin, and as soon as you start collecting I swear they breed, and you totally will be one of those folks 🤣🧡
Brennan is my favourite DM, too! I will watch almost anything with him in it! I’ve watched all of his video podcast about DMing just because I love hearing his perspective on… anything
Tazhi, You are very inspiring! (and a wonderful enabler) I am now the proud owner of 3 SQ from Blackberry Ridge ....so thank you for all you bring to your channel!
Always so inspiring! I still need to sit down and really wrap my brain around grist. Now you have me curious about supported spindling! Your sidewalk chalk slipover is beautiful!!
Hi Toshi 👋 Your fleeces are Gorgeous! I can't wait to see the yarn you'll spin with them! Your spinning is beautiful too! I love the drop spindle you have too. I'm inspired to pick up my drop spindle again. Thats how I first started spinning, but its been awhile since I've done it...I may start that 15 minutes each day too! I have lots of pindraft fiber to spin...I need like 5 life times to complete all the fiber I have accumulated, but I'm gonna enjoy the journey!! Thanks for sharing 👍 😊
#AskTashie is a great segment! I'm not at a point where I spin for a project, I just enjoy whatever comes out and I try find projects for the result. My first wheel was a Louet S10 and I LOVED her. I had to leave her when I moved countries. Now I have an Ashford Traveller that is noisy but still enjoyable.
I don't spin, but love to listen to you talking about spinning, fleeces and sheep. I would love to start spinning in the next couple of years. In the meantime, I am focusing on knitting, trying to be exposed to different types of wool and other natural fibers. Just finished a hat made of 50% merino / 50% mohair, purchased from a local angora goat breeder. It is so soft and warm, it's perfect. It is so nice to be able to meet the breeder in person.
Wow, I love how your ranunculus sweater looks and I must say you're not the only one to be late as I've had an eye on that pattern for a very long time but haven't knit it yet either!! I really love the colour you chose too. looking forward to seeing the F.O. Take care!
Hello Toshi (probably misspelled your name- sorry) from the sunny San Francisco Bay Area. Wow, when I watch your vlodcast I am speechless. You burst out the knitting gate with washing, carding, spinning then.......using that material to knit your garment. It is off the hook literally! Then to add some rocket fuel to your trajectory, you knit an item that is complex and intricate with the finest technique. All I can say is the mold was broken after you came on the scene. I am happy to just buy the nice yarn and do a fairly decent job knitting my garment. But I am happy there are rare breeds like you paving the way for people like me to see what is possible for those that have the gift to do what you do. Your technique and enthusiasm for what you are doing is contagious even if I can only take a fraction of what you do into my knitting world. Keep up your beautiful vlodcast so we can stay inspired!!! You rock! Best, Carrie
I've come to terms with the fact that my plunge into hand spinning is inevitable... though I need to knit up a good chunk of my yarn stash to make room for fiber first! I'm learning so much from your videos and it's delightful, thank you!
Damn looking at your feet on that double treadle wheel gave me so much inexplicable serotonin. If I ever buy a new wheel again (and I must refrain myself from doing that immediately) it sure will be a double treadle one, that just looks so much fun :D
Hello! First time watching and I love your energy! Angelica's fleece is beautiful! Congrats on your sock, it looks great! I just got a drop spindle for Christmas and I'll be learning how to use it this year. I'll keep watching to see how you progress with yours. 😀 Hope you have a great day!
Someone I gamed with a year or two ago always denied the smoke detector beeping in their house. They were so used to it they didn't hear it. I heard one little chirp in your video and was reminded of him.
Just found your podcast. Love it!! Jillian eve has great podcast on support and Turkish spindles. With a great way to start your leader. The support spindle has taken me lots of practice
Watching your podcast literally makes me want to drop my knitting and go to my spinning wheel right now! Great episode as usual, thank you! Oh, and I did not knit a Ranunculus! A Love Note neither :D
Thank you for all the great discussions of practical and useful topics like grist and fiber weight - did not know that, but intuitively it makes sense. Also, great to meet someone who is also subscribed to @longwayhomestead breed of the month fiber. I am on my 2nd subscription, but this time I am writing the breed on the vacuum pack. So many of my first set got separated from the ID cards, and I am playing "Guess this sheep!" - which will sharpen me in the long run, but it may be a really long run 😂 Great podcast!
I did that for the first few months and then started stapling the id card to the vacuum sealed plastic - I am playing guess the sheep on a few and I do not think I am succeeding!
Thank you for a great video, again! There was so much in it for me and I love your presentation. Im like you, for spindling…I got a couple of drop spindles (was already a wheel spinner) and tried for a while. Then I got a Turkish spindle and tried for a short while, each time going back to my wheel. I love my spindles but I am so undisciplined and just overlook them. You’ve inspired me to try again doing 15 mins a day…I did start that (remember?) but, once again, I dropped the practice. I love your combo spin colours…I am gathering braids together for my first combo spin, for a jumper (another first for me!). It’s a bit daunting…the pattern choosing, the braid choices, the prep choices, the spinning choices…. I think maybe I’m over thinking it! I have 3 x 100g braids that are fairly coarse (one is a Scandinavian mountain) and a little compacted and so I am going to drumcard some batts and do a small combo practice and I thought maybe I could knit a dicky if I can get enough yardage…grist, grist, grist🥴 So I guess I’m going to be sampling (and panicking) in the near future! Your yarns always look so fabulous and you are a wealth of knowledge, which you, generously share. Thank you so much😊🙏
Hi, I’ve just started to learn to spin and have acquired various spindle types, as you do! You’re right, getting started can be very frustrating! Rachel at Cat and Sparrow has a video on spinning on a Turkish spindle, including making a leader from your fibre - hope this helps. Like you, I love watching Lisa; such a calm person and she makes such interesting videos (Roxanne Richardson also did a breed study a while ago, in case you didn’t catch it at the time). I also enjoy watching Ange from yarn n yarns - she doesn’t take it too seriously and makes me feel that spinning is a possibility for anyone. Best wishes, J x
Inspired by you to be late to the ranunculus party, so glad I arrived. Love you, love your podcast! Love supporting creators of color so glad I found you and others. I'm now obsessed with spinning and I don't want to be, its all your fault.
It was so fun to see you spindling and loving it. I spin all my yarn on spindles (for 13 years). I never warmed up to wheels or electric spinners. I had to laugh at your 30 spindles observation and thought, that's a lot of spindles. Haha, Tazhi is so funny. Then, I counted my spindles...24. And I have given at least 8 away recently. Will I acquire more? Probably. Also. It was great to see your sock and to hear you are working on the mate. Surely you are finished as I watch this, because I am behind in my viewing. However, I had to comment, because spindles, socks and raw fleece (I am talking about you, Angelica) are my happiness trifecta .
Love love love everything about you and your podcast! I am very excited to be taking my first spinning class today. I have some raw fleece I have scoured and carded but am too afraid to mess it up lol. Talk about the cart before the horse!! But oh how that fleece feels and smells is just wonderful! Thank you for all you do and share💜 I too could listen and watch all day!

Yes. I am late to everything popular because I take sooo long to knit and my decision making process its, well, glacial. I don'[t really feel like I'm missing out though, not yet anyways!
I have serious fleece envy. I won't be in competition with you purchasing wise as it would never get through the New Zealand customs. We have really strict rules with the ministry of agriculture over bringing in such items. I will enjoy you sharing your fleece purchases though.
I love your channel! I could not afford a spinning wheel and I heard you mention the EEW Nano on your vlogmas and I got obsessed! I received it two days ago, I just completed my first bobbin of single and I’m already looking into fleeces. Thank you for all the information you share and your awesome personality!
Hello again!!! Those singlesss whoaaa! Spinning goals. I’ve been too afraid to spin my Gotland lamb fleece because I know I’ll turn it to rope. WWTD???

You are crazy productive!! Are you tracking your knit from stash progress? You motivated me to do the same though my goal is 5,000 yds. So far so good as I have knit about 1100 year between a sweater and two socks that I knit. I feel great knowing that I am being more intentional about my stash. Thank you for the idea on how to track.
If you ever spin something and just hate it, I would probably buy it anyway :). I have no interest in spinning myself, just consuming what others do and I want to support you.

I mean it absolutely has to happen now.
Angora confuse me because sometimes it’s rabbit, sometimes it’s goat…
So I never know whether to spin long draw or short forward. Every time I spin short forward I make rope 😬. Helpppppp
You need less twist in your yarn if you’re making rope - consider treadling slower or dropping your ratio.

I LOVE rubbing my finished garments against my face and go all "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw" =D
so I get you! I get you!
Like, I even say they're my comforters. Anything yarn is my comforter!
I still havent knit a ranunculus! 🫣 now i need one! 😅
