Ep 148 | Pine Martens Attack! | From French Chateau to Farmhouse
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 кві 2024
- The chickens have come under attack by local French Pine Martens - and they are hungry determined creatures!
Anna and Peter tackle the problem by increasing security in the chicken coup - beefing up the doors and sealing all the main openings.

We have the loveliest supporters and followers of our UA-cam channel 'It's a Wonderful Life'.
We remain committed to provide our content regularly, and of late, to increase the frequency of our vlogs. We have and continue to receive, many kind requests, to send gifts, or in some way help us financially with our channel.
We have given this a great deal of thought. Whilst 'Patreon' and 'go fund me' are out of the question for us, we feel the 'buy me a coffee platform' (or for us, a cup of tea!) would be a great way to do this, especially in light of its ease of use and non ongoing commitment.
Any contribution towards maintaining and hopefully enhancing our channel is very much appreciated, but never expected.
Anna and Peter, it is so good to see you posting again. I really enjoy your videos. You both are so talented in many ways and I’m sure you are proud of your many improvements and other accomplishments of your property.
I think it's beautiful the way Anna is with the animals. Your home and land looks absolutely beautiful, what a beautiful job you both have done since you first bought the place. I enjoy your videos, much love from Oklahoma USA Jackie 🇺🇸💖
I love Anna’s laugh! How beautiful to have the relationship with your animals. ❤
Peter each time you build something you’re so talented.
Good to see you back.
I am so glad that you are posting again as I missed seeing your skills, goodness and the care and respect that you show to the animals under your care. I was in tears when you had to leave the chateau that you had made so beautiful. You look happily settled where you are, at least I hope so.
BEST WISHES TO YOU
l just think the both of you are just great, its cute to see the chicken flowing Anna shes a good mom ❤
Anna is the chicken whisperer!❤❤❤❤❤.Peter, again, fixing the chicken coop entries! Yes, the wildlife will try whatever it takes. I am happy the chickens will be safer. I love your channel!
I always enjoy your vlogs. They are very well put togather and have terrific content.
Many thanks for sharing 😊
Anna and Peter I absolutely love your renovations on your home!!! Good job today Peter. So cute to see the chicken following Anna Mama.
So delightful to see you again. You bring me such joy & escape from worldly troubles for me. Love videos, keep going in your own way & style. I love length, subject matter & editing. Miss Anna is amazing! I know animals but she is a wizardess! Sweet to watch. Garden looks amazing. Take care & lots of love from Southern Australian hills, Jane
So good to see you again. I have missed you both.
Go on there Peter! Keep the pesky varmints at bay. 🥳🙏👏👏👏💝

Lucky Chickens 👍🤗
Loverly video 👍🤗 ☕🍰💐🍰☕
Love Sue❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
So interesting! I never knew so much about chickens before. But then I never grew up on a farm or had chickens. But I had never heard about that kind of behavior of chickens before. Good thing Anna is knowledgeable. Hopefully, the work you did will keep those chickens safe from other animals.
Anna’s love of her chicken family is so heartwarming.
An 86 year old grandma ( Helen Wyatt), who lives in Dublin, Georgia has a lot of chickens. Most she incubated and hatched. A viewer sent her some of those chicken aprons. That was the first time I saw them. Do you have any footage of Annie hatching. Some of those Cockrell can be really nasty. Grandma has an issue with snakes now and then. Do you encounter snakes there? Those pine Martin's could be hazardous to chickens. It is good to see you take precautions. Your place is beautiful and the animals are well kept and cared for.❤
I am so glad to see you posting again! You have been missed. Your content is always very enjoyable.❤❤❤
Love your video’s Peter & all the lovely animals 😊
Wonderful to see the animals ❤
So glad to hear you are going to be posting again. Hopefully Miss Anna will be joining in with your projects. Xxx
Fouines are a total pest with chickens in France. Our farmer friend traps and ‘relocates’ at a distance.
Peter you and Anna are so caring. Your videos always have a feel good factor. So nice to have you back.
Gramophone in the garden one day !!
It's a very useful job you had done in the chicken coop, so they can rest in peace, without egg robbers visiting at night.
In 1956 - 1964, when I visited my grandfather and grandmother, they had the henhouse and the locomotive in the same house, down at the back of the garden -
I remember when you had to go to the toilet - there was a pleasant clucking from the chickens, but there was also a draft, at times there were also visits from mice etc. My older sister didn't want to visit there, for the same reason 🤩
Funny about the chicken with the apron on. I was in a local yard sale and one of the sellers was holding a chicken with one on. She really did look spoiled. You always have improvements going on. What a good job you always do, it is so nice.
Wonderful
Nice to again
another great job Peter, and I loved the sound of the wind chimes, beautiful. see you both soon
Lovely vlog great work Peter as always looking great.
Another great job Peter. You and Anna have such a lovely home and property. Both of you take such good care of your animals as well. Thank you!!
Keep up the good work 👏👏
So glad you are continuing. I always enjoyed watching your post and all you've done with the chateau and now the farmhouse
Y’all are great! Keep it up!
Pine martins are in Scotland and they keep the grey squirrels away from the native red squirrels so the red have a thriving population.
Great video , you both work so hard and you achieve so much and as though that's not enough you film at the same time . I feel guilty when I say I've had a busy day ?!
Chicken house looks tight as a drum. Peter you are one handy guy to have around. Do you still have the cats, haven’t seen them.
....and I'm glad your subscriptions have increased. You deserve it.
Great to see you both back xxxx
Yay! You're back, I've missed you both and all the critters.❤
I think the farmstead suits you two.
Your content is so interesting and fun filled. I am very glad you have felt like posting!
Learning from you every time you post, I am a fan of you both, thank you
Nice to see you both again, i missed you!

Thanks for the video Anna and Peter.
Glad you are back on here😊
Love it!!!!
I've always enjoyed your content - so varied but always interesting. So glad to see you back.
I only watch 3 chateau/farmhouse channels in France, you & 2 others. Love your down to earth & calm manner.. xo xo
Love It!
So happy to see you posting regularly again, love watching your vlogs 😊
A great job done again, Peter ❤ you are so both soo caring towards animals . Loved watching ❤
Pole cats are also known as skunks here in the states.
As always, very nice work on the hen palace 😊
So pleased to see your videos again and dare l say that l love where you are now much more than the chateau. The grounds are perfect and if l lived there , it would be hard to drag me away.
I'm pleased to know you will continue with sharing here. Your channel content is pleasant, peaceful and sweet. A wonderful distraction. Thanks
Great chicken house, hopefully we can create something as good when we move over later this year.
It is so nice to see you both again. Was Anna raised on a farm? She is so comfortable around the animals and garden. Can you sell some of the extra eggs to the locals? I am lucky to be able to get fresh eggs from a farm couple who live just outside my small farm community here in Iowa. They are beautiful brown eggs. Delicious in everything. I love your property. I am so glad you both are such good stewards of the land.
👋👍❤️
In the southern USA polecat is slang for a skunk tho we do have martins here.
❤ Great to see you again xx
Love this channel!
" don't think we are odd" 😂.. I'm proud of being odd/weird/quirky 😅. You guys are doing a fantastic job 😊✌️
Oh Peter I have really missed your posts everything you do is perfection and miss Anna love her chick it looks so cute in its protection dress hugs from down under😊
Thank you so much Denise :-)
❤❤❤
I am surprised you didn't just brick and mortar the whole area up I fear if it becomes damp will weaken in time. I read up on them and they don't give up easy those thing :(. Lovely to see you two again :) Brave that Anna did that for the chick is sweet I am sorry she's having trouble you know what you are doing no one should judge you are caring towards all your menagerie.
LOL Too late already subscribed way back in the chateau day.. take care and see you soon, so lovely to see you again! xo xo
Love the French Flag.
Do duck need nesting boxes in their house too?
oh its lovely to have you back. I have followed you ever since you had the chateau and have been wondering what you have been up to, Anything you post is interesting (except maybe lots of carpentry at once!) wishing you both bon chance,
Thankyou both for another great vlog👏👏❤❤ .. question. What do you do with all those eggs everyday? There's only so many eggs 2 people eat!! 😂😂.. take care both 👍
I don’t think you’re odd or I’d have to think I’m odd 😊 chickens are lovely but can be really nasty to each other sometimes. I wish I could have more but where I am I’m only allowed 5. When I was a kid we had a fox burrow under a 4 foot footing to get our rabbits.
But how do you stop the little pests getting in during the day and hiding out? Will have to keep the little door shut.
❤❤❤
👋👍❤️
