Who's to say they'd be good at cleaning toilets? It takes hard work to do a job like that. Look at Earl, the security, and the hotel manager. Their jobs were to stand around doing nothing all day.
The police escorted him off the property forcing him to leave all his possessions in the room. Not only did the guards fail to use common sense, neither did the officers.
I thought the cops accompanied him upstairs to get his things and then escorted him out. I do remember the hotel refused to refund his money after throwing him out.
Police officers are robots. Many only have barely anything more than a high school diploma. So for them to use “common sense” is asking a bit much for most of them.
There’s always going to be those people that “feel uncomfortable with other people” just because of the color of skin. 100 years from now it’s still going to happen.
@John Doe you typed this up and was like “yep, this is a solid argument” and hit reply… thanks for showing you’re tolerance toward bigotry. There are flaws in affirmative action, but to act like it’s negative thing as a whole is a pretty bad take.
That was the problem- the manager confirmed he was a guest, but took the side of the security officer and kicked him out anyway. That was likely the main reason he was fired.
They "fired" them to avoid being sued. Despite the effort of Portland PD, Mayor's Office and the DA to cover up the incident. They never expected the video and the media attention
Because cops have to obey the business. If they say someone is trespassing, even if they have a legal right to be there, they have to remove them from the property. It isn't the police that are the problem here, it's the business.
I hope all tourist will watch this video and see how Portland Oregon would not be a good place to visit while in America. It would seem Portland Oregon want your money but doesn't want you there even if you're an American citizen. If you're not in their click they don't want you
So they fired the two employees, fine. What about the $$$$ he paid for the room, was it reimbursed? How about a complimentary weekend stay for his trouble?
For Christ's sake the 2 men at Starbucks were loitering they were taking up a table playing on their cellphones not buying anything and insisted on using the bathrooms for free they were asked to leave and they did not so they were arrested it was not a hate crime
It doesn't matter. If they're told by a representative of the property owner (in this case the guard and a manager) that someone is being trespassed from the property, they have no choice but to escort them off the property and issue them a notice that if they return they are subject to arrest. That's the law. Don't blame the cops for this, they didn't have a choice. The fault lies entirely with the (now fired) guard and manager.
@@KAYKWILL No, they weren't. The law requires them to follow the instructions of representatives of the property (in this case the manager and guard.) They were doing their jobs, the guard and manager were the ones being racist. And I would say the guard is the one most at fault. He's the one who started the entire thing in the first place.
Are you kidding me? How dare you treat people like this. He is a guest and you kick him out???w.t.f.I feel sorry for this young man and my heart goes out to you. I hope this experience will make you stronger and keep your fate in humanity because we are not all like this.My husband is a colored man and we where treated like this in a restaurant but it's not ours problem, it's those people that have a rotten heart. GOD bless you and your family to everyone that are treated badly just for how you look.GOD bless you all.
That’s not how it works moron, the police can’t decide if someone is trespassing on private property, only the private property owners or representatives of the owners can’t decide that and the police just have to escort them off. It’s not their decision
Next time racist thing happens don't post on social media and contact the company directly and see what they do. I wanna know and test companies if they are doing right thing because it's the right thing or because of social media outing
Wonder if that hotel mgr had that same smirk on his face when they told him he was fired? This is what happens when you hire a racist ex cop to do security and an idiot for a mgr backs him. If you think this is an isolated incident at a Hilton hotel, think again.
It's sad😒 being treated like a crimnal when your not doing anything wrong. If the guard was concern he could of just said in a friendly manner, can I help you sir? Let the guy speak & let him explain what he's doing there? The security guard assume the guy was up to no good without an explaination.
Portland has a lot of homeless people that’s why they have security I am confused though after proving who he is and that he’s a guess why he was escorted out still something is missing
'Feeling uncomfortable' does not mean someone else has to see his rights cancelled. This is like a lot of vaxed people who felt uncomfortable with people not wearing the disguise on their mouth and got the safe and effective poison.
Security did its job wrongfully ,but the question remains which hotel staff notified them ??? , i hope this man sues the hotel for every penny they have , 2023 and this dumb shit racism still exists its an absolute disgrace
Notice to racists, this is how you keep your job when you let your bigoted side get the better of your human decency. - - - - - - I'm sorry sir, we were wrong. Please go to your room and enjoy your stay. If we had a suite available, we'd upgrade you. Tomorrow morning . . . your breakfast . . . via room service . . . is on the hotel. And again, we do apologize for this misunderstanding.
isn't this the kinda racism you get back in the day lol with 5 cent chocolate bars what did the man actually do to anger the wraith of the hotel... besides enjoy those couches they leave in the public area
They would be handing me all of my money back or I wouldn't be going anywhere unless they arrested me then my lawsuit would be for the hotel and the dirty cops and instead of a few thousand dollars we could be talking millions
They deserve to lose their jobs. They weren't any good at it. Hope they get another job cleaning toilets or something.
Who's to say they'd be good at cleaning toilets? It takes hard work to do a job like that. Look at Earl, the security, and the hotel manager. Their jobs were to stand around doing nothing all day.
I hope they get no job at all 🤷
They havent got fired .. They work for a secury company, not for The hotel. They Just sent another two guys to The hotel.. Lol
The police escorted him off the property forcing him to leave all his possessions in the room. Not only did the guards fail to use common sense, neither did the officers.
AGREE
I thought the cops accompanied him upstairs to get his things and then escorted him out. I do remember the hotel refused to refund his money after throwing him out.

Because they don't care about black people the kkkops are part of the problem they believe those lies when if they don't siund real
This one isn't on the cops, it's on the hotel.
There’s always going to be those people that “feel uncomfortable with other people” just because of the color of skin. 100 years from now it’s still going to happen.
And the response from the police SHOULD be removing the people who called over rediculous reasons.
@John Doe you typed this up and was like “yep, this is a solid argument” and hit reply… thanks for showing you’re tolerance toward bigotry. There are flaws in affirmative action, but to act like it’s negative thing as a whole is a pretty bad take.
Good he filed lawsuit against hotel & he should have sued the 2 former employees too!!!!!!!
And the STUPID COPS ALSO! They should be held accountable.. (Cops).
I would never have to pay for another hotel room at DoubleTree EVER!
Where was the front desk/hotel management in all of this?? Couldn’t/Shouldn’t they have been on hand to legitimize his status as a guest?
That was the problem- the manager confirmed he was a guest, but took the side of the security officer and kicked him out anyway. That was likely the main reason he was fired.
They "fired" them to avoid being sued. Despite the effort of Portland PD, Mayor's Office and the DA to cover up the incident. They never expected the video and the media attention
Department of Justice should have called to investigate double tree hotel for racial profiling?.
I don't think white people feel uncomfortable when they listening to that rap music and trying to twerk
Why aren't the cops being held accountable?
Because cops have to obey the business. If they say someone is trespassing, even if they have a legal right to be there, they have to remove them from the property. It isn't the police that are the problem here, it's the business.
@@fbbWaddellnaw police are racist too!
When are they ever?
The police needs to be handled too.
It is the year 2020 and this shit is still going !!!...breaks the heart.
Only the immature are surprised
You must not be a POC.
Good for him, people need to think before they act
It's a no-brainer. He wasn't doing anything, but taking a call in the lobby and he was a guest.
Maybe they need to hire more black employees OUTSIDE of housekeeping! How many managers are black?
The police should be ashamed also. He is staying there. The police are racist to

I will never stay at Double Tree again! Smh
This is just why we need to support our own.
For Christ's sake the 2 men at Starbucks were loitering they were taking up a table playing on their cellphones not buying anything and insisted on using the bathrooms for free they were asked to leave and they did not so they were arrested it was not a hate crime
What about the cops? Can't they read? Couldn't they figure out the guy was a registered guest?
It doesn't matter. Part of the problem is the police. They will always take the side of the caller. Should of told the manager to start kissing the customers ass.

Imagine white people going to other black dominant countries and be treated the same. That would be an interesting scenario.
wow going on a year alrady and nothing has come out of this!? where is the footage of the hotel? where is the discovery?!
He recorded the incident

S CT I'm sure their entire lives are excruciatingly "uncomfortable".
Oh wow. I stayed there about a month before this. That's weird
Why put seating in that area if you don't want people to sit down

We'll never know what the outcome was because it will involve an NDA.

Racial profiling catches a lot I mean a lot of criminals.... wonder why....
Another normal day in the U S of A!
This needed doing, their behaviour was DISGUSTING, TOTALLY DISGUSTING!
I would sue the shit out of that hotel!!! And then sued the city for the actions of the police officer!!
It's all about what makes THEM feel uncomfortable. They could care less about your comfort
LIBERAL PORTLAND?? SAY IT ISN'T SO!!! PEOPLE HAVE ....LOST THEIR MINDS!!!
GET THEM MR. MASSEY!!!!
Before I'm going to make a hotel list to hit? I need to find me a good lawyer that will fight this kind of situation/case.

I have not been to Starbucks after that incident.
SUE HOTEL 1 MILLION
Stupidity, ignorance, racisim is not a "handycapped" placard for your car. I used lo like America now,........... not so much...........
Security guards are the most pathetic people on earth
even the police should be fired. .because they coudnt be a police if only someone called that they are uncomfortable. .
Good and rightfully so, I remember this
security guards dont have no common scene if you see some one that not doing any thing wrong just minding his own business leave him alone dam.
'Feeling uncomfortable' does not mean someone else has to see his rights cancelled. This is like a lot of vaxed people who felt uncomfortable with people not wearing the disguise on their mouth and got the safe and effective poison.

They've been quietly hired by Trump Hotels.😨
Nope Hillary clintons body guard
Nothing to do with Trump
That racist cop needs to be fired too
