It surprises me that this doesn't have *that* many views. It felt like this was a huge deal back then 😂 one of the best original YTMPVs that I've ever seen for sure 👌
the 10 year anniversary of this legendary video occurs today. This video is a prime example of where YTPMV was at this time, acting as a precise bridge between the classic style and the then-burgeoning pitch-shifting style that would soon take over that side of the medium. this video took the best of both worlds and combined them to make something timeless, the "Bohemian Rhapsody" of YTP for lack of a better comparison, lmao. kudos to you and the great NS2 for this absolutely legendary piece of work. We will always Get Ready To Catcher, but She Will Never Come Down.
It's a very impressive piece. I never knew about this until Emplemon used it in his video. I thought it was an old games level music of some kind. Maybe genesis. Now i know the truth. Good stuff.
This one is a gem, place. This is like the shawshank redemption imdb of other ytpmvs. It's pretty bittersweet, because instead of being disappointed that others don't top this, you gotta still be amazed that this was made so well to begin with. The sampling here is just one in a million because this guy captured lightning in a bottle. The fact that hotel mario cd-i managed to accidentally drop that weird 5 second Seinfeld like audio clip is what put this here in the first place. Sample heaven. This is straight Quincy Jones shit
To this day it still amuses me that this sounds good becasue of the muffled, over-aplified sound capture that Quebecgamers used with the original Hotel Mario clips and not in spite of it. In fact it'd probably sound worse with the best quality footage. Reminds me of how old YTPs would do entire bits around their bad artifacting and lost frames in their CDI Zelda clips.
“Whatever you now find weird, ugly, uncomfortable and nasty about a new medium will surely become its signature. CD distortion, the jitteriness of digital video, the crap sound of 8-bit - all of these will be cherished and emulated as soon as they can be avoided. It’s the sound of failure... of a medium pushing to its limits and breaking apart.” - Brian Eno
This video makes me cry rivers of sorrow because I am now crippled with the cold, hard knowledge that I will never experience anything better than this again in my entire life.
I feel the exact same way, every bit. Are we soul brothers? Come, let us weep tears of lament at the realization we will never come across anything more wonderful and remarkable in our short, fleeting lives.
for anyone who actually understands what's going on here, this is amazing. this is sort of like writing a symphony. but instead of writing it from scratch you take an existing symphony, chop it into hundreds of individual pieces, and completely rearrange them to create an entirely new yet still cohesive symphony that sounds absolutely nothing like the original pieces it was ripped from. aside from knowing how to simply compose a good sounding beat, the effort that it takes to mix up something like this is pretty incredible. 360k views since 2009? this is terribly underrated which goes to show that most people just don't get it.
I have been a YTPMV fan since the beginning of UA-cam and I am ashamed to say I never came across this, but glad that I can share this with everyone I know. Thanks for keeping music like this alive, this shit was fire from beginning to end
When KFAD remixed this song. My literal mind was blown. Now, I never really heard of this video until after I watched the video from SilvaGunner. I gotta say, this is freaking amazing for it being 10 years old lmao
I've listened to this hundreds, if not thousands of times, and every time I listen to it, I'm reminded of the ingenuity of the track as a whole. The attention to detail is prevalent throughout, the variation in genres keeps it interesting, and that broken beat that starts at 0:50 just gets me every time. I'm personally biased towards genre bending, breakbeats, and syncopations in general, but this track is one of my favorite big beat tracks of all time. I want this played at my funeral. The way Triple_sSs creates the loops, stacks them up, and brings them back down is simply incredible. Given the peculiarity of the source, this must have been quite a challenge. The mix is also very balanced; none of the frequency ranges are lacking at all. This is my favorite YTPMV because it's completely original, using only samples from the source (Hotel Mario), which not many other YTPMVs do. Plus, it's funny as hell! In other words, it's a masterpiece. TL;DR ily Triple_sSs
I know right? I heard this years ago, and it still impresses me today. It's still the best YTPMV I've heard, and of course better than most crap on the radio nowadays. And the way it's beauty comes from it's nonsensicality...that's just amazing!

Today I decided to do this with the school band, our goal being to drop this national banger with all its crazy members to all the school. Starting with the dj, the cow bell, guitar, battery and the singer singing the wisest words you'll ever heard in a song about toasters toasting toast, followed by our weird maracas friend and a intermission or electronic remix, causing a blackout in the whole stage, all the crew screaming in shock and applauded. But when everyone thought it was done, a small build up started to become louder with all the members following the dj, with the addition of the guys doing special effects... and then, slowly they get off the stage, leaving only the weird maracas guy and the effects team who still wanted to vibe more than they could do. We got suspended for a week but it was truly worth it. I performed as the cow bell because I'm the only kid in the whole school with that freaking instrument and I loved doing that part no matter what.

This sounds very much like a video game soundtrack should, too...like a classical Sonic soundtrack, actually. I think a proper instrumental version of this would actually sound really nice in one of the Sonic 3 stages back then.
I've listened to MANY YTPMVs for the past 15 years, and this remains to be one of my all-time favorites. Listening since 2011. Big Beat Mario is a certified masterpiece
I'm a late-comer to all of the YTP's of the past decade (I only discovered them a couple of months ago), and I must say, this music video is amazing! I love it.
There may have been a recent HD remake, but the crusty sound of the OG is the only acceptable version for me! Thanks for making my childhood that much more epic!
Hey Trip, Gary here. This vid is one of my fondest YouChew memories. Thanks for inviting me to the forum all those years ago. Changed my life like you would never imagine. Hope to see you sometime down the road.
This is fucking awesome. Everything about this is amazing. The line remixing, the small toast segment, the bass and beat drop, the actual Hotel Mario gameplay footage being remixed alongside the cutscenes. This is video as a whole one of the reasons why the YTP and YTPMV community is one of the best things on youtube. Happy (late) 14 year anniversary to you, Triple_sSs, and Big Beat Mario!
Son, always remember, without CD-I games, DBZ, Sonic TV shows and the power of youtubers, we wouldn't have YTP as great as this one. Heck, no YTPs at all!

It has. This was created before the Internet became corrupt.
This sounds very much like a video game soundtrack should, too...like a classical Sonic soundtrack, actually. I think a proper instrumental version of this would actually sound really nice in one of the Sonic 3 stages back then.
*****
I'm getting an odd, Jet Grind Radio feel from this mix.
Well, it started to rot in early 2013.
It's the cancer that's killing it.
Look it up.
Happy anniversary
Skyguy, I truly believe this is and forever will be your greatest gift to the world. The pinnacle of YTPMVs.
That fact that you've kept the MP3 download up this long makes me so happy. thank you!!
I love it.
Happy 10th birthday to the greatest YTPMV of all time.
Approaching 15 years and this video is still legendary.
This is now one of the best ytpmv I’ve ever heard
Of all the YTPs of this game, this is the first one I've seen to utilize actual gameplay footage in the video. XD
Hotel Mario Maker does it too
@TheRedCap late reply, that wasn't around 4 years ago.
What about I accidentally hotel Mario
This video is immune to aging.
After all these years, this is still such a banger
Super Chemical Bros.
Dynamite Grizzly smack my peach up
Elstree haha :'D
Block Rockin' Beats!!!
-THE TIME HAS COME TO-
Paperteque Music you know what they say!
This is ...a masterpiece *tears up at the beauty of it*
Demetrio Baca Why didnt you delete me like i asked?!?!
Please explain?
Flaming_SKULLzz an argument we had
Funny how I haven't seen this in many years and now it's popping up in my feed.
After all these years it's still the best YTPMV.
I'm not even gonna kid myself. This is my fucking jam.
Watched this 10 years ago, randomly recommended again. I already left a like a decade ago. Classic UA-cam
Son, always remember, without CD-I games, DBZ, Sonic TV shows and the power of youtubers, we wouldn't have YTP as great as this one.
Heck, no YTPs at all!
Also Morshu wouldn't have existed
and the mario cartoons bc mario 3 started it in the first place
thanks, dic entertainment 😂
It feels wrong to thank Nintendo for anything but none of this would have existed if Mario hadn't been created, either.
