Carrie Anne Moss and I attended AADA West in the late 80’s. We had a long in depth conversation at a party one night, about our futures. Her highest ambition was to get a soap. Think she did very well.
This came out the same year as "THe Truman SHow". Both, with different ways, spoke to the same point of "what is reality". What I loved though, was that NEITHER asked that question first, both were modern interpretations of the "Allegory of the Cave" by PLATO!
Just love how Hannah progresses from highly sceptical to super invested and how she sometimes makes some scary ass on point predictions in the story. What the hell is up with that? Big brain.
Fun fact - The helicopter explosion is real including the ripples in the glass, they shot this in Australia using a special rig using compressed air. The marriage of onset practical photography with VFX is what makes this work - So much planning and love.
"Children of Men" is a banging movie that not enough people have seen. Very talented director as well. I highly recommend reacting to it if you haven't already experienced it.
The reason Neo is able to achieve, is because he's humble. He doesn't worry about what he is when the oracle tells him he isn't the one, he's not even relieved not to have such pressure on him, he accepts what has been said to him with a smile and a shrug of his shoulders. He doesn't need to believe he's better than he is. Because he's Keanu Reeves and the best looking girl in his crew is swooning over him hard.
Originally, I started watching movie reactions cuz I could re-watch a movie "cliff noted" but now... I just want to see Hannah and Ash ft anything. You guys are hilarious!
TRINITY'S kiss and words were auditory and tactile stimulation for Neo's mind. His heart had stopped but his 🧠 was still alive and the words and touch reconnected his mind to the world outside the Matirx. So yes the expression of love is WHY but there is a rationale to HOW it happened. "The body cannot survive without the mind." As good as the movie is that had bothered me for YEARS... but now i see if she hadn't waited to tell him he wouldn't have survived .
This was the first time I've watched your channel. Ashkan was enjoyable but the redhead was everything. Good Lord, I'm in love. Guess I'll be checking out more videos just to see her (yes, I'm perving and proud of it but don't worry. I live in New Jersey in the States).
I think the reason this film was so pivotal is because it explained the complexity of the individual and human perception in a way people could understand. It's absolutely true that everything we experience, everything we can touch, everything we see, hear, taste, is all just electrical signals that our brains process into what we perceive as reality. You could just be a brain in a jar somewhere, as long as there are electrical signals telling that brain that you're sitting on a couch watching a film, that's what you believe to be "real". The Matrix just presented this theoretical idea in a great and engaging way.
I am so excited for this movie reaction I'm commenting beforehand! This is one of those films that it's amazing to watch people see for the first time. I already know Ash, you're going to love it, and maaaybeee yeah I think Hannah will think it's cool. Also I JUST noticed the new intro song and laughed, so funny, I say "SYMBOLISMS!!!!!!" to myself when I watch stuff now. Love you guys, I'll leave a comment after as well ;)
Such a good movie. Revolutionary action and symbolism! I love how hyped and gritty Hannah got when she nailed the path line 😂 And with all the sexy female action stars your introducing her to, I would love to see Hannah's reaction to Kill Bill. Maybe she can do that on her channel! One of my favorite fun facts: the directors and writers of this movie (the Wachowskis) wrote V for Vendetta. And the actor who plays Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) played V🖤🤍❤ Both movies that remain classics that mean so much in so many areas of filmmaking.
They wanted to make V first and after that the Matrix. Glad they did it the other way around. It's like it was meant to be to come out in 1999 and V in 2005
I'm not sure I agree V for Vendetta has a huge legacy the way the Matrix does. I think it's more niche, in spite of its hardcore fans. Also, once the original writer (Alan Moore) pointed out how they messed up the political message, I found VfV less interesting.
You guys are always awesome ... Ash for symbolisms and off the wall humor .... Hannah for her engaging intelligent 100mph mind! (And funny avenues her brain can go with a scene)
Love your video guys hahaha. I've watched many Matrix reactions and yours is my favourite. Hannah is hilarious and the chemistry between you too is great 😆Awesome reaction
I've watched nearly a dozen videos of people reacting to the Matrix and wanted to make two comments. Hannah not only had the most insightful or creative takes on events in the story, but she is clearly deeply empathetic and had the strongest sympathetic responses I've probably seen anywhere.
Hey Hannah and ASh, when Neo falls in his first jump, many pepople see it as a failure on his part. However, the more important lesson he learned is that if you get hurt in the Matrix you can get hurt in the real world. So if you die in the Matrix your mind translates that as death for real. It also lets the audience know the stakes at odds. It's not just a regular video game.
23:42 i love that detail they show that he actually spin his arm around the hose almost faster than the helicopter propeller and thats why morpheus makes that awe expression
There is nothing I could say about this movie, what a thousand different people said at a thousand different occasions, before. So let me say this instead: Ash, please send your co-host my best greetings. I love her new hair style. Her hair has never looked better!
Yep you hit the nail on the head. The oracle, while technically not saying Neo wasn't the one, made Neo feel less important so that Neo would more easily sacrifice himself for Morpheus. If Neo knew he was the one, he would have doubts on putting himself in danger because of his importance.
I went to see this movie at the theater on my 14th birthday and it was mind blowing. The slow motion action sequences, became the template for most action films, in the turn of the millennium.
Hey Hannah and ASh, cool tid bit. When Agent Smith appears in the room ahead of time to shoot NEO. It's the same room from the start of the movie when they tried to catch Trinity. So Agent Smith deduced that he would head there as it's the closest phone land line to make a Matrix portal exit. Pretty cool tie-in from the writers/directors.
Cool little story, when this was being filmed in Sydney, my family lived next door to one of the camera operators for this film and he was friends with my father at the time, he gave my father a camera cartridge which was used while filming the "red dress" scene.
I love how the Oracle says Neo isn't the One but maybe in another life. The agent kills Neo and then when he wakes up he is truly the One in his next life.
This movie is basically about Plato’s Allegory of the Cave. Imagine a cave. Inside are people who were born and have spent their entire lives there, chained into a fixed position, only able to see the wall in front of them. Everyday someone would come in and use the light to cast shadow animals on the wall and as far as they know, this is the entire world.
Hannah, you are correct. Dreaming is another dimension. Some people can enter this dimension during awake times using a technique called astral travel.
If you decide to continue on with the franchise, I would encourage you, "DON'T", skip The Animatrix, regardless of whether or not you do reaction, It's, a collection of shorts, that provide a bunch of backstory and set up the events going into the sequel. Also, it's rather unique, since each short was animated and directed by different animation studios, displaying numerous animation styles and techniques, as well as a wide variety of storytelling, perspectives and narratives, it's literally a buffet of animation.
Agreed. The Animatrix is a much better extension of the series than the actual sequels. It really filled out the world, the history, explored other ideas and concepts. And because they are shorts they get to the point. The sequels were a mess. They have their moments but are not a scratch on the original.
@@kevtb874 Completely agree, the original had a perfect blend of philosophy and action, the sequels were far too lopsided towards the action and special effects side of things and the story suffers, not to mention the cringe attempts at humor, I'm looking at you Neo vs Smith in reloaded, who's the asshole that decided to toss in the bowling ball sound effect? When it hits the mark and you do pick up on some things, it's awesome, but other times, it's amusing to watch you try to find something out something inconsequential. You guys are amazing!
Carrie Anne Moss and I attended AADA West in the late 80’s. We had a long in depth conversation at a party one night, about our futures. Her highest ambition was to get a soap. Think she did very well.
Amazing reaction video! Hannah was in rare form. Ash was enjoying every minute of this classic film.
Great reaction. Another mind-blowing movie is VANILLA SKY (2001 film). Hannah won't be able to predict the ending in this one.
I LOVE Vanilla Sky. It made me so emotional and even scared me at times
Even better then Vanilla SKy is the original version in Spanish, but I can't remember the name LOL
Animatrix, The history of the Matrix. Especially The Second Renaissance 1 and 2. That is the story of how the events in the Matrix came to Fruition.
"Children of Men" is a banging movie that not enough people have seen. Very talented director as well. I highly recommend reacting to it if you haven't already experienced it.
Seconded. Lots of great one shots in that one.

What many Matrix fans may have had difficulty expressing,
Hannah manages to put into words so simply!!!
The window cleaner was actually kinda showing that Neo was in the matrix. The soapy water strikes resembles the matrix code
Bingo! And it's being wiped away as his boss is chewing him out, centering Neo in the world of the Matrix. It's entirely symbolical!
Love you guys, I'll leave a comment after as well ;)
I no bs come here cause y’all literally help my depression. Your the best 💯💯💯
Hannah is a keeper! Don’t ever let her go, Ash!!
Please give Everything, Everywhere, All at Once a go next! It has a lot of SYMBOLISMS!!
"The window cleaner had nothing to do with it?" 😂😂😂 She's hilarious 💯🙌
this movie is the reason why people were trying to bend backwards before then hitting their head after they fall down! Hahahhah I freaking love hanna!
@@maxducoudray Yeah you right. I still treasure VfV though 😊
Thank you! Great reaction! Hannah is a treasure!
You guys are always awesome ... Ash for symbolisms and off the wall humor .... Hannah for her engaging intelligent 100mph mind! (And funny avenues her brain can go with a scene)
Quote of the day .... looking into camera saying 'pfft... he hasn't even said I'm the one 🙄".. .. pahahaha 🤣🤣🤣
"So did the window cleaner not have anything to do with it?"
LOL that was priceless
Hannah is always so spot on with her predictions and she doesn’t even know it. lol. Love her.
Just btw, me and my gf watch y’all a lot and we’ve turned it into a drinking game every time one of you says “symbolism” 🤣
Hugo Weaving played Agent Smith and V (V for Vendetta). Awesome actor
24:24 "Well... you'd be gone." :/
Tears. Honestly, laughing with tears on that one, Hannah.
Thanks for that!
"Should we start dressing in latex as well"?
'Baby, I dreamt of this day you would ask me"...
AWWWW - CUTEST EXCHANGE EVER!!!!
I remember always watching the Matrix and Fight Club.it was a state of mind.
Hannah perfectly explained the Law of Assumption when Neo got shot, and it was hilarious!!!!
The sheer glee on Ash's face when the movie starts is both endearing and extremely relatable lol 2:20
‘So did the window cleaner have anything to do with it’ actually fucking sent me in tears 💀💀💀🤣🤣😂😂😂
Hannah's reaction is what makes your Channel something special, no front!
Agreed. Once her channel is up n goin he is goin to lose a lot of views and subs 💯
Hannah is the only reason I watch any of these videos, she’s so empathetic and smart vs Ash’s machismo and bravado
OMG it is about that time! let' watch :-) thank you, u 2 :-)! x
That "throwing up milk from the guac guac" comment at the end had me rolling 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hannah the Magnificent! She understood the whole spoon thing instantly. Way to go! 👏 👏 👏
This is legit a 10/10 and hold up today, even kinda warns us or predicts potentially where we could end up lol! But who knows lol.
7:00 *My Lord Elrond.*
Absolutely loved watching this reaction: “Wave the ride!” 😂🤣
Hey Hannah and ASh, when Neo falls in his first jump, many pepople see it as a failure on his part. However, the more important lesson he learned is that if you get hurt in the Matrix you can get hurt in the real world. So if you die in the Matrix your mind translates that as death for real. It also lets the audience know the stakes at odds. It's not just a regular video game.
Well it was a failure. What you are describing is how it contributed to the narrative, which I agree is great. But in-story, he did fail the jump LOL
Even without audio I can hear the entire movie inside my head. I love it that much.
Hannah is everything that is good and pure in the world.
What about me? 😂
23:42 i love that detail they show that he actually spin his arm around the hose almost faster than the helicopter propeller and thats why morpheus makes that awe expression
Hannah is spot on. Matrix is to be watched as a documentary 🙌
"You've got to just wave the ride." and "...just put me in a bit of leather and your The Matrix." are my two favorite sayings I've heard today.
CLASSIC Hannah reaction 🤣💯👍
22:12 "Put a ring on her finger, "SHE'S A KEEPER!"
There is nothing I could say about this movie, what a thousand different people said at a thousand different occasions, before.
So let me say this instead:
Ash, please send your co-host my best greetings. I love her new hair style.
Her hair has never looked better!
30 minutes later "So, did the window cleaner have anything to do with it???" Im dead 💀💀💀
Hannah's expression at 22:31 😆😂🤣
Hannah headbanging to Rage at the end lol 🤘
These two are nuts!
Yep you hit the nail on the head. The oracle, while technically not saying Neo wasn't the one, made Neo feel less important so that Neo would more easily sacrifice himself for Morpheus. If Neo knew he was the one, he would have doubts on putting himself in danger because of his importance.
You two are so funny together. Great content 😊
"So the window cleaner had nothing to do with it?
Oh, bless her heart.
Hannah is freaking hilarious
I went to see this movie at the theater on my 14th birthday and it was mind blowing. The slow motion action sequences, became the template for most action films, in the turn of the millennium.
Hey Hannah and ASh, cool tid bit. When Agent Smith appears in the room ahead of time to shoot NEO. It's the same room from the start of the movie when they tried to catch Trinity. So Agent Smith deduced that he would head there as it's the closest phone land line to make a Matrix portal exit. Pretty cool tie-in from the writers/directors.
Matrix and Fight Club. My favorite movies of all time. So rewatchable, so deep and so 90s. And both movies are drenched in Symbolisms!
Hanna;
You are "The One".
it was ahead of its time. best way to describe it. 90s were a beast decade for great movies
Absolute classic! 90s at its finest 👌
1999 was one of the best movie years of all time. My favorite year. But there are a few other contenders, that noobs may consider :D
10:57 Hannah says “I don’t want to wake up in my room, my room is a SHIT PIT.” Never heard this term before by I’m stealing it. 😆
Wave the ride!
Cool little story, when this was being filmed in Sydney, my family lived next door to one of the camera operators for this film and he was friends with my father at the time, he gave my father a camera cartridge which was used while filming the "red dress" scene.
the window cleaner call back had me in stitches hahahahah
cheers from Brazil m8
I love how the Oracle says Neo isn't the One but maybe in another life. The agent kills Neo and then when he wakes up he is truly the One in his next life.
Nooo. #1 He was not dead at any time.
#2 The Oracle explains exactly why she'd said to him.
@@Eowyn187 okay cool
@@mckinleyfisher-lynd3896 Thomas Anderson died. Neo was reborn.
He needs to stop talking and building it up before she watches it, just let her go in blind.
It's the Matrix, not Kung Fu Hustle!
I was turning 19, the year this came out. I went to see this film at the cinema everyday for a week straight. It marked the next pinnacle in filmmaking since Terminator 2.
Hannah, youd be shocked how many of the lines in this movie apply to "real" life right now.
With the window cleaner, Neo can see the code but doesn’t realize it. The water and soap look like the Matrix on a computer monitor. It’s the same when it rains and the water runs down a window.
Correct!
