The reason why Godfrey's phase themes differ so much is because of what happens inbetween the phases in the game itself, the fight and the character completely turn on their heads
The Final Battle is so iconic because it brings in the game's theme that you hear every time you boot it up into a climax. It was an awesome insertion and it hit hard.
It's fitting too because it brings everything full circle. Marika created the Tarnished when she removed grace from Godfrey and his warriors and turned them against the Golden Order. It's actually even more common than that. I also think (but I'm not sure) that they used the ER main theme in both Margit's and Morgott's theme, where I think its first notes are repeated by the brass instruments in the background throughout the track. I might be wrong about that one though.

I think the reason why rennala’s phase 2 theme is so different is because the lore attached to it. The tarnished meets Rennala in this state of limbo, or slumber, due to her previous grievances. Ranni, her daughter, saw that the tarnished was trying to kill Rennala. Before the tarnished could, Ranni sent out an illusion or spectral projection of her mother at the height of her power for the tarnished to fight. Not only as a warning to not kill her mother, but to show the tarnished that her mother isn’t someone to take lightly, despite how she may appear to us. In the end, we end up not killing Rennala but rather bringing her out of her state of limbo. Most boss themes have a very grand, powerful, ominous, or terrifying atmosphere to it. The theme for Rennala was designed that way to feel a lot more personal. This guy is a great musician for noticing the difference 1:23:50
@@irislo6463 it was a trap set LONG before she met us Tarnished. It was meant to protect her mom during the shattering as she could not do it herself when Radagon left her. Smh, smh, smh 🤓
Although Elden ring music was great from the beggining, what really made me appreaciate it was fighting Godrick the Grafter, suddenly getting silent, followed by the violin building gives me shivers.
Honestly I feel like a lot of the tracks blended together. I think dark souls 1 or bloodborne had the most unique tracks in their respective soundtracks.
@@Hobbes9 I thought so too at first, it's unlike Dark Souls III, where tracks are catchy for real. But give it a few listens - tracks will really open up, I'm sure
The beast clergyman’s true name was “maliketh, the black blade” who controls destined death and wields his colossal greatsword infused with the rune of death (destined death) like a dagger, his name meaning “death of the Demi-gods” and beat the original holder of destined death with some rocks and his withered dagger.
This is not true. Maliketh is Marika’s shadow. Like how Blaidd is Ranni’s shadow. Marika removed the Rune of Death from the Elden Ring and gave it to Maliketh to ensure the god’s safety. There was no previous owner of the rune of death and Maliketh only uses the rune of death in his second phase, where it is infused in his greatsword. He never uses it “like a dagger” this comment is strange asf lol.

If you absolutely loved these tracks from Elden Ring, then you'll likely come to enjoy the ones from a few of Fromsoft's other games such as Dark Souls 3, and Bloodborne. Fromsoft like to follow a sort of philosophy that their music would often better portray what they should for the moment, mainly the bosses themselves. Every song is carefully catered to better tell the light of the boss. Their story, and their significance to that moment. As to be expected, some take a bit more of a push to get that last bit of their story out of their mouth as they go either more enraged, desperate, or become more bare with us. I primarily suggest those two as they're two of the fuller set without anything less of inspiring. Could argue maybe Sekiro also into that list, but I personally don't get as musically hyped for Sekiro tracks, even though I agree certain ones were certainly quite enjoyable in their respective moments such as Lady Butterfly.
I just realized - I'm pretty sure anyways - that they used the same progression for Mohg and Morgott. Listen to Morgott's theme from where the music opens up (44:59) and hum the melody from Mohg's theme (53:37). There are also more similarities littered throughout the two tracks. I love this detail, considering they are twins.
My absolute favourite still is the final fight, Radagon + Elden Beast. There ain't nothing as out of world as these two back to back. At one moment you are fighting this glorious fight to finally turn it all upside down and the music just pumps so hard It feels heroic and like the players destiny. You come out victorious, only to face something out of your world. The music fades into this very calm and majestic harmony as you fight something far greater than yourself and everything you held to be important up to this point in the game. The music begins to make you feel like you are about to end something that is just not meant to be ended, but then the "plin plon" plays, paying homage to Gwyns theme all the way back from Dark Souls 1, reminding me of the journey it took to get to this exact moment, then the true final battle commences. I've never had a more personal connection to a bosses/games track than this one. This one is thematically rich, tells a story without words, calls you back to the beginning of your journey and makes you wonder if what you have done was truly the right way.
The theme of elden lord changes so much between first and second phase because he first fights you as a noble lord and second fights you as a bloodthirsty warrior
I’ll never forget the final boss….I just beat Radagon in a raging fight after my 7th try, I was screaming with victory…then…….The Elden Beast emerged with full health and I wasn’t mad, I wasn’t shocked. I was in AWE. The music, the way the Elden Beast moved, had me in silence. When I died, I wasn’t mad, I was happy for how far I have come..the music helped me feel that way, idk if I’ll ever get this feeling again. To get it from a video game speaks volumes
In my time playing Elden Ring, the Godskin Apostle & its theme have been my favorite fight and theme so far. The music perfectly fits the fight and is generally really good, and the fight itself is super satisfying to me since the movements I made in response to their attacks came to me so naturally
Favorite fight Dragonlord Placidusax he’s just so cool. That’s it. He’s so dang cool. Favorite theme it’s a toss up between Mohgs and Malikeths but both are absolutely amazing.
About the halfway point of godskin apostles theme where it fades out for a second and comes back is the greatest bit of music I’ve ever heard in a fromsoft game. The entire song is absolutely amazing. That and the Radagon theme stand alone at the top for me.
Many of these are two separate tracks with different names, second phases change everything. Malenia, blade of Miquella changes to Malenia, goddess of rot. Beast Clergyman changes to Maliketh, the Black Blade. Godfrey, first Elden Lord changes to Hoarah Loux. Then the final battle is a mix of Radagon of the Golden Order with Elden Beast.
I'd like to throw out a recommendation for the 'Frostpunk' OST for a reaction stream, It's an absolutely fantastic game with an incredible soundtrack. For anybody who's never heard of the game or whatever, search for and try listening to 'The City Must Survive' as an example. All the tracks are superb, but that one especially so.
To be honest I'm surprised that this guy haven't reacted yet to Splatoon 1 or 2 OST, the guitars and syths are so sick and kinda all of the songs are just bangers
It’s honestly amazing how the themes can truly detail how the bosses are. Like everytime he analyzes a boss theme you can see how they translate or compare to the actual boss himself.
The Fire giant, last of his kind. Spellbound to forever tend to the flame of his forefathers. The player just sort of runs into him to access the Flame of Ruin, which the Fire giant is forced to protect at all cost and thus we have to fight him. The music definitely suits the fight and the story.
Favorite boss for sure has to be Godfrey/Hoarah Loux, really love the momentum of the fight and how it plays out, favorite boss theme is Rykard's, it just feels so corrupted and vile, you can feel the weight of his sins in the track
I love most of the boss themes but if i were to make a top 10 1)Malenia The Blade of Miquella 2)Morgott the Omen King 3)Beast Clergyman/Maliketh the Black Blade 4)Godfrey the First Elden Lord 5)Mogh Lord of blood 6)The final battle 7)Godrick the grafted 8)Lichdragon fortissax 9)God devouring serpent 10)Godskin apostles Honourable mentions to: Rennala Queen of the full moon, Starscourge Radahn, Fire Giant, Regal Ancestor Spirit, Dragonlord Placidusax and the Black Knives. Overall the whole soundtrack is amazing, was pleasantly surprised with how many bangers it had.
A bit late, but I'd highly recommend listening to Rogue Legacy 2's ost. It's a fairly new game but its soundtrack is incredible. My personal favorites are "The New World Army" and "Immortal Cain." Guitar is also present.
I like that you pointed out the E flat minor similarity between the Godskins and the Black Knives, as they have quite an interesting connection in-game. (spoilers) The Godskins and the Black Knives both used Destined Death as methods to hunt gods. The Godskins had their Destined Death sealed away by Maliketh, which (I believe) causes the black-and-white Godskin flame we see in game. Meanwhile, the Black Knives used a fragment of Destined Death that they stole from Maliketh. Thus, it makes sense why their themes would be similar.
Idk if this will be seen but an INCREDIBLE game with an INCREDIBLE OST you should check out is night In the woods, I swear you will not regret it and you could even check out the fan made musical like you did for undertale, the person who made the undertale musical sung in the night in the woods musical as well!
This was great! I always appreciate these videos! (even if I understand very little music theory wise) I’m personally really looking forward to the Risk Of Rain 2 ost! Keep up there great work!
My fav boss fight in the game probably has to be between Astel or Placidusax. For music I would choose either Astel’s or Malikeths. I like the mysterious/creepy vibe from astels theme. it’s more interesting when you include astels purpose in the game. The whole eternal cities is so soothing yet eerie to traverse.
The theme change with godfreys theme has to do with the fact that you actually fight two different personalities. First phase is godfrey, with the beast serosh on his back to hold back his lust for battle. In the cutscene between the phases, he rips serosh of of his back, killing him and re-obtaining his original personality. In phase two, you don’t fight godfrey the first elden lord, you fight the warrior hoara loux, now with his lust for battle no longer being held back. His fighting style also changes. He goes from a somewhat fast movement and slow swipes with his axe (which he doesn’t use in phase 2) to fast movement with strong punches, tackles and grabs. The music changes to represent this.
Awesome stuff, I loved hearing you perspective on the various boss themes. Is there any one that you liked the most out of all of them? My favorite was Godfrey, he's an absolute Chad
Would you be able to review the EarthBound soundtrack? It’s such a weird and funky soundtrack. The game itself inspired games like undertale and deltarune, both of which heavily sample EarthBound.
I was surprised at how little commentary you had about Malenia's theme! I could see you really getting emotional and going through that journey on it. I'm biased admittedly (it's probably my favorite track in the game), but did you have any particular thoughts/feelings on it? Keep up the great work, love the channel.

I cant say i have any one favorite. but a song that calls to me as particularly striking and impressing when paired with its boss has to be Astel. it really captilizes on what the FuF am i looking at
People wondered but never questioned “why is Radagon’s boss theme the main theme?” The truth is, Radagon is dead, his corpse was simply revived to fight us. No… It is us who the theme plays for
the main theme of the game is radagon and elden beast's theme combined. you can hear the harp at the beginning of the main theme, which transitions into radagon's theme i don't think it's meant to have any lore significance, but i guess you could say it represents how the elden beast is puppeteering radagon
It's just a tradition. They did this before in Demon Souls and allegedly wanted to do something similar in the original plans for DS3. Radagon's/ER's main theme is incidentally a rearrangement of the Demon Souls main theme.

And then Ranni promptly forgets that the Tarnished tried to kill her mom when they give her the ring... smh
@@irislo6463 yeah that was always weird for me. Smh
@@irislo6463 Because she doesn't know. Ranni isn't physically there, you just likey triggered a previous magic trap set by ranni to protect Rennala
@@irislo6463 it was a trap set LONG before she met us Tarnished. It was meant to protect her mom during the shattering as she could not do it herself when Radagon left her.
Smh, smh, smh 🤓
Ranni must be so OP
*Mohg, Lord of Blood*
"That's an ominous name"
That's an understatement
Also 1:19:53 *MAC AND CHEESE*
Man, they went REALLY hard on Fortissax phase 2 😩👌
I like how disgusted he looks whenever he hears something interesting.
fun music = 🤢
🤷🏻♂️
I have these same expression patterns lol
It’s disgustingly good
same g it is so genuine
Listen man, if you haven't heard something that hits you so hard you get the "stank face" then you haven't lived.
Man Rykard’s first phase music deserves so much more love for how amazing those climbing strings sound with the lone voice
>fortissax. Tried and true.
We definitely need Bloodborne and Dark Souls III, ain't no way you're not gonna love that!
DS3 OST just diff
Godrick, Mogh, Godskin, and Ancestor are probably my favorite. But Malenia is the one I listened to the most. 🥺
the godskin's ost is so narcissistic, i vibed to it
narcist 🧛♂️
Although Elden ring music was great from the beggining, what really made me appreaciate it was fighting Godrick the Grafter, suddenly getting silent, followed by the violin building gives me shivers.
i love how the live chat just starts chanting nihil when mogh's ost is being played XD
A top notch ost, really varied and memorable
Honestly I feel like a lot of the tracks blended together. I think dark souls 1 or bloodborne had the most unique tracks in their respective soundtracks.
@@Hobbes9 I respectively disagree, it may just be me but I feel that exact way about Dark souls 1 and 2. Bloodborne’s is great tho.
@@Hobbes9 I thought so too at first, it's unlike Dark Souls III, where tracks are catchy for real. But give it a few listens - tracks will really open up, I'm sure
@@Hobbes9 I also disagree it is significantly more varied then the ds3 and ds2 ost for sure (ds3 ost is still a banger and ds2 one is nice)
@@Hobbes9 bloodborne ost i sfucking awesome, at least as good as ER if not better, but ds1 only had few really memorable moments
@@tgadin Destined death = rune of death. Gloam eyed queen used to have destined death.
@@tgadin No we know he's her half brother, and he beat the previous wielder of the rune. The shadow thing is just trying to purposely read overly into it despite what they explicitly tell you
@@tgadin I said he used it like a dagger because of the way he swings his sword around in some of his attacks.
@@tgadin dude what do you cant understand? He said he use it LIKE a dagger because look at his moov. This guy is flying with a greatsword. Also what he said is true maliketh beat gloam eyed queen and he never said that maliketh isnt the shadow of marika. Read correctly next time
The Elden beast theme is definitely one of the most calming things I’ve heard in the game
the face during godskin apostles is definitely the right one
With how awesome this reaction was, I'd love to see a reaction to Bloodborne OST. So dark yet so beautiful!
Corrupted monk & Demon of hatred are up there with the rest of the best from tracks
The faces this guy makes look like a combination of being disgusted, pissed off, and happy lol
I just realized - I'm pretty sure anyways - that they used the same progression for Mohg and Morgott.
Listen to Morgott's theme from where the music opens up (44:59)
and hum the melody from Mohg's theme (53:37).
I think the black knives ost is highly underrated...I love how scary and creepy, feeling it gives
Godskin duo though🙃
This guy has some of the most visceral facial expressions
its the almighty stankface, it's inescapable.
Erdtree avatar OST is heavily underrated, I was always thrilled to fight the avatars just to hear the music!
Both the Main Theme and TCMS are the best Frostpunk tracks in my opinion
The beast clergyman ost hits different especially the low rumble in the beginning.
His expressions truly show how the music feels. 100% worth watching, never thought I would say that of a reaction video.
Godfrey’s theme hits hard when you meet him. The last two Demi gods left to fight for the ring, you, and Godfrey.
Lichdragon Fortisax is beyond comprehension
Godskin has to be my number one, with Fortisax being my number 2 and Mohg being my number 3.
The Fire giant, last of his kind. Spellbound to forever tend to the flame of his forefathers. The player just sort of runs into him to access the Flame of Ruin, which the Fire giant is forced to protect at all cost and thus we have to fight him. The music definitely suits the fight and the story.
the more i listen to these tracks the more i love them
damn what an amazing soundtrack
Godrick has such a good ost
Favorite boss for sure has to be Godfrey/Hoarah Loux, really love the momentum of the fight and how it plays out, favorite boss theme is Rykard's, it just feels so corrupted and vile, you can feel the weight of his sins in the track
People always say how much of a leap graphics took in video games but I'd go as far and say that music (OST) took AT LEAST as much of a leap as well.
I love most of the boss themes but if i were to make a top 10
1)Malenia The Blade of Miquella
2)Morgott the Omen King
3)Beast Clergyman/Maliketh the Black Blade
4)Godfrey the First Elden Lord
5)Mogh Lord of blood
6)The final battle
7)Godrick the grafted
8)Lichdragon fortissax
9)God devouring serpent
10)Godskin apostles
Honourable mentions to: Rennala Queen of the full moon, Starscourge Radahn, Fire Giant, Regal Ancestor Spirit, Dragonlord Placidusax and the Black Knives.
Overall the whole soundtrack is amazing, was pleasantly surprised with how many bangers it had.
Idk why People underplay Placidusax’s Theme so much, I think it’s definitely in the top 3 hands down.
It's his opinion, man, he's not downplaying anything.
You should do the OST's for Monster Hunter World Iceborne or Monster Hunter Rise! I find them incredible.
Yep! Especially All mother narwa ost
@@fede113 trash. MHW is best game. Go away!
A bit late, but I'd highly recommend listening to Rogue Legacy 2's ost. It's a fairly new game but its soundtrack is incredible. My personal favorites are "The New World Army" and "Immortal Cain."
Guitar is also present.
I like that you pointed out the E flat minor similarity between the Godskins and the Black Knives, as they have quite an interesting connection in-game.
(spoilers)
The Godskins and the Black Knives both used Destined Death as methods to hunt gods.
A reaction to Sayonara Wild Hearts would be great! Like a Pop Album in the form of a game.
I would love to see your reaction to the game called "Dusk" it has GREAT soundtracks and the album is just sick .
Dusk goes crazy
Wow, two hours of a pure enjoyment that was awesome.
My favorite boss is Astel, Naturalborn of the Void. It just looks super cool.
That look on his face. You know it's a really good soundtrack.
or DSII! One of the best soundtracks ever
Idk if this will be seen but an INCREDIBLE game with an INCREDIBLE OST you should check out is night In the woods, I swear you will not regret it and you could even check out the fan made musical like you did for undertale, the person who made the undertale musical sung in the night in the woods musical as well!
"Mohg, Lord of Blood... that's an omenous name"
my fave boss and boss theme is dragonlord placidusax. the whole experience is just amazing as a package.
Yuka Kitamura really went crazy with this OST.
Everything fun & game....
Then Hoarah Loux starts shaking the entire earth!
Would you be able to review the EarthBound soundtrack? It’s such a weird and funky soundtrack. The game itself inspired games like undertale and deltarune, both of which heavily sample EarthBound.
Based on the last poll it should be the next stream.
I was surprised at how little commentary you had about Malenia's theme! I could see you really getting emotional and going through that journey on it. I'm biased admittedly (it's probably my favorite track in the game), but did you have any particular thoughts/feelings on it? Keep up the great work, love the channel.
at 8:56, the way you said "this one is called... godskin apostles" it made me feel like I was at a concert. CROWD SUDDENLY LOSES THEIR MINDS. Moment for the band to get ready, then blam.
Bloodborne OST pls most underrated OST ever and one of most beautiful and iconic from last gen games
A good game to react to would be the Yakuza franchise. Like Yakuza 0, each game has an amazing OST that are great to listen to.
You should check out the Risk of Rain 2 + Survivors of the Void soundtrack!! I think you would love it
you should do ultrakill ost too
can't wait for you to get around to the Dark Souls 3 soundtrack
i love the person who shouted "DEMON SOULS THEME" during final battle
You should do monster hunter themes! They're some of the best I've heard.
As an mh player I can 100% agree I've been playing for 11 years and proof of a hero is still a masterpiece in all of the variations of it
I had read it « lansseaux » too at first
phase 2 final boss' theme was one of the greatest themes I've ever heard, beautiful, absolutely gorgeous
Final boss theme p1 is my favourite,
Favourite boss is Malenia for pushing me to the limit in first playthrough
Shoutout to Radahn for having a truly epic battle (Placidusax for most cinematic), and Mohg, LoB best Arena
I’ve heard some other people mention it but frostpunk would be amazing to react to
I cant say i have any one favorite. but a song that calls to me as particularly striking and impressing when paired with its boss has to be Astel. it really captilizes on what the FuF am i looking at
People wondered but never questioned “why is Radagon’s boss theme the main theme?”
The truth is, Radagon is dead, his corpse was simply revived to fight us.
No… It is us who the theme plays for
Uh, no? One thing dont have relation to the other
the main theme of the game is radagon and elden beast's theme combined. you can hear the harp at the beginning of the main theme, which transitions into radagon's theme
i don't think it's meant to have any lore significance, but i guess you could say it represents how the elden beast is puppeteering radagon
It's just a tradition. They did this before in Demon Souls and allegedly wanted to do something similar in the original plans for DS3. Radagon's/ER's main theme is incidentally a rearrangement of the Demon Souls main theme.
I want to make mention that the player level up sound sounds like the start up to radagons fight
Radahn is known as the starcourge because of his use of gravity magic. He uses it to quite literally keep the stars in the sky.
Not quite literally since it has to be precised that what he is holding back are the falling stars and the beasts in them, not the actual stars.
@@popkhorne5372 that's right! I forgot about the fallen star beasts. Many thanks!
@@popkhorne5372 he holds back all the stars. you can see after you beat him that all the stars in the sky start to move, not just the falling ones
@@Tulip_bip i suggest you watch it again. What happens is actually the opposite. Most of the stars in the sky do not move an inch during the cinematic.
@@popkhorne5372there were still hundreds if not thousands of falling stars he was keeping stuck in place in the sky

second half of fire giants theme almost sounds like battle of the hero's
Mogh and dragonlord are the song that had most impact on me
1:00:59 I start sweating really hard. Don't send me back in there.
Fave boss is definitely Rennala, I love magic sm. Fave theme is Godrick, gives me the creeps in the best way
A música temática do Godrick é lendária para mim.
Maliketh's OST is so good!
