Thanks again for taking the time to make the video. Mark McKenna Tucson, AZ
You're very welcome, Mark.
Please never stop making these videos. We will be doing our Ikea kitchen this summer and your videos have been a God send!
Thanks a lot 🙏
Great video. I like the longer format too. Nice job!
Thanks, Tim.
Thanks for some great videoes :) Tak for nogle gode videoer :)
Looks like my videos are crossing language barriers! Thanks for tuning in. Mange tak :-) God lørdag i Danmark.
Literally just about to start doing these exact lights. Thanks for the video this will help a lot.
Glad I could help.
Thanks for making this video, very interesting. Considering using this lighting in my Besta units to show off my Lego 👍🏻
You're very welcome, Paul.
Good idea, Lego is always worth showing off with proper lighting 😀
Thanks for your continuing sharing great videos which have helped me a lot achieving a challenging task of installing Ikea kitchen otherwise very expensive going to custom cabinets.
I only have backslash left done and I have very first install those dimmable lights under wall cabinets as they give ambience feeling every time I light them up. Love them.
Having installed myself the entire Ikea kitchen from scratch, it's a big job.
It does require to have some skills though.
Glad that your tutorials are here reminding me having a lot of fun and get impressed by guests too as it gives you personal satisfaction of being there done that.
I wanted to install light for drawers but found it no real need to save some money elsewhere otherwise it will cost a lot due to so many pull out drawers I have installed.
Thanks for sharing your experience 🙏
Feel free to share your kitchen with us when done.

I wish Ikea offers motion sensing under cabinet lights. I am currently getting battery-powered motion sensing under cabinet light from Temu. Their light output is more suitable for drawer light.
I see your point but I don't think I would like motion sensing under cabinet lights. I like to keep them dimmed in the evening for the cozy ambiance.
Huge thanks for sharing all the tips and tricks with us! My kitchen project would have been much harder without your videos.
You're very welcome. I'm glad to hear that 🙂🙏
Thanks!
Thanks a lot ❤️❤️
Thank you for another great video. I am planning to connect all my under-cabinet lights to a single switch so I can turn them all on/off at once. Would be nice if there was a way to connect the vent hood lights to the same switch, but I imagine one would have to hack the vent hood to separate the power supply of the lights from that of the vent itself. I wonder if you have ever done this or seen it done? Thanks!
You're very welcome. I'm glad you like it.
I cannot say that I've done, or seen, what your suggesting.
One could think that the whole vent hood (blower and lights) could be switched as you describe because how often would you run the vent hood blower, without the lights? 🤔
Thanks for taking the time to do these videos, cuz I know they take a while to edit and prepare. Going to give a like to every video you have on this subject, b/c I think you have done the best explanation by far.
Question: If we want to have drawer lights, but in cabinets that are finished with a panel on the back side (b/c they are not up against a wall), should we bring all the wires in from the bottom or from the side?
Thanks. Im glad that you find my videos helpful.
In your situation i would run the wires from the lights to the back and then down to the space below the cabinet where I would place the power supply.
This video, along with your installation videos, is very helpful for the DIYers out there. Can you please tell me, when you have a blind corner cabinet situation, do you run a group of two 18" lights under the entire cabinet, or only one 18" light under the part of the cabinet that shows. Will it be a dark corner without the extra light, or too bright with it, or just right? Thanks in advance!
Thank you, Laura.
I do whatever fits. I don't think you can add too much light and I definitely think it's better with more than less.
Love, Love, Love your videos. They were invaluable to my install. I have a 30 inch upper Sektion cabinet. There isn't a 30 inch mittle. Can I combine an 18 and 12 by joining them mid cabinet or will the crews pierce the floor of the cabinet?
Thanks Bob.
Sure you can use an 18+12....in case you don't like the 15+15 😜
Screws won't go through. Too short.
@@kitchensbyrannes Ugh! I honestly didn't even see the 15! Too late, I have them bought and opened now. The template is tricky when not going into the side piece like the instructions. But thanks at least for confirming that it can be done. Really appreciate you getting back to me so quickly. Knobs today which is nerve racking...even after watching your video. 😬
Good luck with the knobs 👍
Great video thank you for posting. Is it possible for the power supply to be hardwired to the outlet, instead of using the regular plug?
You're very welcome.
Possible, yes.
To code, most likely not.
The wire isn't approved for being hardwired, as I understand it.
I recommend asking a local electrician.
Thank you
You're welcome.
I enjoy your videos. If you have 2 separate sets of lights due to a sink or something separating them do you install 2 transformers or just run the low voltage cable in the wall (which I think is allowed by code)?
Thank you for your feedback. I am happy to hear that you find the videos helpful.
About your lights. You can do both. If you have a sink between the two sections, you can just run the wires under that cabinet. If it's a stove dividing the cabinets, you can also run the wires in a conduit behind the stove, at the floor.
@@kitchensbyrannes Thanks for the response. I don't know if you ever do appliance garages but I think that is an interesting topic because there is not a lot of information on that. I'm going to attempt one using a high cabinet cut down with double doors connected with a piano hinge. Not sure how it will work. I'll know in a month. I had the Ikea roll door garage at my last place.
No I don't do those. In Ontario Canada, and many other places, it's not to code to have an electrical outlet behind a door and without it, not so functional.
Thanks for this awesome video! It was really informative. One question: since not all drawers will be open simultaneously, wouldn't it be possible to use a single power supply for all the drawer lights? Just a thought to potentially simplify the wiring. Keep up the great work!
You're right. I'm just a cautious man.
I should have mentioned the scenario you describe but since I try to show what I do when I install kitchens myself, I didn't think about it.
Should a client decide to leave all drawers open at the same time, for whatever reason, and by doing so, exceed the limit of a power supply and possibly kill it, I'll be the one who would have to come by to replace it. Don't want to 😊🤔🫤
It's always better to err on the side of caution, especially when it comes to ensuring the longevity and safety of installations. Your approach of showing what you do based on personal experience is valuable. Thanks for the insight-I'll definitely keep that in mind for future projects.
Thanks. Yeah, you're right. Plan for safety is key.
It's amazing how often "the unthinkable" happens 🤔
for the under cabinet strips you connected together.. is there an extension wire to extend and then connect more ?
Nope, each section has its own wire running to the power supply.
@@kitchensbyrannes ☹️ thank kinda suck for me. Thanks for the reply.
Hmm....🤔
It it a distance issue?
There's always a way but if you run too many lights in a line, the consumption may be too high for one power supply.
Hello, do you know how many of the Mittled strips can be joined together? I will need 3 x 60cm lights joined together - will this work? Thanks!
Yes, that'll work if you use the 30 W power supply.
Check the video at 20:46
Thank you!
You're very welcome 🤗
How to replace the led after installation? I can't figure!
Which one, and why?
Do you still use 120 volt? We switched to 230V 50 years ago.
Yes, 120 volt is what we got.
