Merkava MK4 video is next as ive already got some nukes in it. The reload buff was great but we need the armor back too.
@@Wogby i’ve managed some nukes too in recent times but still , being unable to feel safe in a hull down position while shifting back and forth to dodge breach shots is such a pain, especially considering now more than ever we are seeing merkava survive some incredible hits
@Brokken There's an image of the turret face of a MK4B surviving a direct hit from a Kornet, the same missile the BMP 2M fires and remaining completely combat effective. The same hit in War Thunder is 100% penetrating in comparison. Just nonsense how nerfed those tanks are.

i love playing my top tier tanks but rng spall liners ruin my fun sometimes.
also, will we see a video on the m1a1 anytime? after the abrams got buffed it’s been absolutely insane, especially rn with 292 spam. a lot of 10+ kill games for me right now.
I'll have to try it again. For what it's worth I've already done videos on both the IPM1 and M1A1 if you're interested. I'll probably refresh those while the 292 spam is going on.

Btw please tell me, what is your opinion on the l55 gun ? In your opinion how does it compate to the l44 ? Personally i feel like l55 isnt any good than an l44 on pso or 2a5 or any swedish strv, which for me is quite sad, i dont see it penetrate for example kontakt5 any better, and neither does it to more damage after pen, i could be wrong tho
The answer to that question is somewhat nuanced, but overall I prefer the L/55 to the L/44. The flight trajectory of DM53 at range is much straighter with the L/55 as is the muzzle velocity, making it significantly easier to accurately snapshot targets at range. Obviously, I've used both guns extensively, so I wouldn't say the L/44 is bad it's just different. As a result of the greater penetration and velocity of the L/55 I would also say the damage is more consistent through Relict side armor and the mantlets of nato tanks.
Love myself leo2s, almost got aces on 2a7v, i am reasonably new to top tier, yet i manage 1.5 kd on leo2 before 2a7v and a 2 to 1 kd in 2a7v(smth like 400 deaths and 900 kills), will be grinding sweden for their juicy strvs, god i want them so hard, its actually so funny, how 2a7v, arguably has artificially nerfed armour(armour is weaker than strv from 20 years ago on a tank from 2017), it doesnt get any fancy new shells, like dm73(neither do swedish leos), and yet leos are just absolutely curb stomping everything, everywhere, like WOW, that being said, i feel like german spall liners arent as good as they were, as its almost always, 2 crewman that die, either gunner and commander, and you are dead, or loader and gunner, or just loader, and you might be dead,i kinda feel like they were more survivable ??? dont quote me on that one, leos are still OP AF, anyways, great video, absolutely love the amazing gameplay
p.s. top tier is an inconsistent mess, with its insanely dumb/rng damage and weird nonpens, yet there isnt really anything akin to WT, so since i want to play modern mbts, i have to make do, i watched your second match and i was loosing my shit, dm53 in an l55, doesnt pen t80u with kontakt5.... nonpen on the side of abrams, dumb damage on the t80bvm when you penned him in the lfp, that is just so dumb, and it happens all the time, you do everything correct and you get gaijined, seriously soviet tanks with k5 are hilarious, t80U and t80uk especially, for some bizarre reasons, dm53 with l55 cannot defeat kontakt5(it barely pens, and not even always), the damage is as dumb as it gets, fuel tank can eat the shell, or the side ERA eats the shell, or you actually manage to pen the UFP but because of how kinetik damage works, it does no spall, its just such so bad...that is not to say that i am bad at top tier, its positive kd on all leos but still....
Honestly I don't even think the added armor is what's winning these matches, it's that you have to shoot these tanks 2-3 times to get a kill confirm if you don't have a driver's port shot. Comparitively, every Abrams, Lecler, Merkava, and Ariete are a one shot kill from every angle hull down or not. I'm sitting at a 96% win rate and 4.5 k/d in the 2A7 now over ~100 games, it's laughable how survivable these tanks are.
@@Wogby i agree on survivability for the most part, however i have seen some shit, i have gotten one shot with 3bm42, from a random t80uk, in the side of my tank,( i was angled like you would angle a tiger) it went through my spall liner and killed 3 crewman in the turret, like how ??? The other time i shoot the side of an abrams and only kill 2 crewman, or i shoot the side of a t80 and the shell magically dissipates, now for the most part i think its fine, but the game has become a massive shitshow with its rng,its just too inconsistent, being agressive isnt as rewarding, oh well, at least my wehraboo ass is happy that leos are super strong i guess, but yeah, spall liners make this inconsistent mess of a game into an even larger rng shitfest(

At this point, I think I like the 2A7 better but not because it's significantly more capable but rather the teams are more consistent. In my observation there are still significantly more German players than Sweden at any given point in time and therefore the winning team will usually be determined by quantity of spall liners present. I think their performance is relatively comparable though and I have similar stats in both. The B+ is definitely faster and better protected than the 2A7 though.

I haven't played very much of tippy-top tier since spall liners were added - only up to about 10.3 mostly recently - but this honestly just looks like no fun. You kick ass as always Wogby, and it's always extremely impressive, but it really doesn't look like it's very enjoyable for you, and I know as someone of more middling skill and only really having British tanks past 10.3 or so, it would be even worse for me. I thought spall liners might be an interesting mechanic to make tanks like the Challenger 2 more viable but it seems like they're really just not helping anything in terms of gameplay and far from reducing the reflex competition top tier often is, just make it a reflex competition with an even bigger RNG component than there already was. Seems like some serious rethinking needs to be done about every aspect of gameplay there, but I can't pretend I'm optimistic it'll ever be done. It might not affect me much sticking generally to 80s and older tanks, but top tier is the endgame everyone aims for and that it's in such a transparent degree of dysfunction is pretty tragic.
Also yes I thought something was up with big Ardennes and the spawns! I've been playing the T-54 Mod. 1951 recently (just a bit masochistic lmao) and even down there at 8.0, where only some tanks have optical rangefinders and a very exclusive few have lasers, the spawn-sniping starts within seconds and is even worse on the winter variant with less foliage and more contrasting colours. I really have no idea who on earth at Gaijin is responsible for that and why whatever changes they did that results in it weren't reverted in a matter of days.
The Challengers are significantly better since the spall liners were added, they're just a rare vehicle to see. All challengers have spall liner turrets and the 2's get them covering the front hull. I'd like Gaijin to make the frontal armor of the tank more akin to its real life counterpart, but the spall liners do improve survivability significantly. As always I enjoy playing the 2E and 3, but you need someone in a squad to play Germany or you're going to have a bad time. As for Aredennes, they arbitrarily decided to move the spawns into an elevated, open position on both sides during the December 2023 update. The map was fine as it was, and they made it worse for no reason. Experienced CCs on their feedback server made it clear that this was a bad decision, but we were ignored.

When referring to War Thunder, skill is a collective of map knowledge, positional awareness, shot placement, and speed. There's a degree of luck involved with anything in life and certainly War Thunder, but the consistency with which someone may achieve outstanding results is the observable metric with which you can grade a player's skill. Ergo, one good match does not make a good player, but consistently good performance across hundreds of games does.

Ngl chief, top tier lately has been kinda bs.
Since the release of this tank this game has felt like I'm playing a high definition World of Tanks. I have a 96% win rate and nearly 5kd in this tank, and if you don't play it you won't have a good time. I've got a Leclerc and Merkava vides edited for this week and the next, but man spall liners have really killed my vibe. In other news, Helldivers 2 is the most fun I've had with a game in a long time.
