Excellent video. A handy tip for snapped gear cable. Get an old cable, cut it to 3 or 4 inches (from the end that goes in the shifter) and then put heat shrink on the cut end to stop it unwinding. Keep it in saddle bag and if/when cable snaps attach your short cable in the mech (heat shrink allows it to pass through barrel adjuster) and the shifter end sits in the adjuster. Then put your mech on a suitable cog, fix cable bolt and use the adjuster to index it…hope that makes a bit of sense

I love these videos of planned trips that center around cycling. Because of videos like this I have registered for riding events starting in Northern Michigan. It's the first time I will ride an cycling event or any event besides run/walk 5K events. I have been training indoor on Zwift and outdoor so I can ride and enjoy each kilometer along the way. To all in the northern hemisphere, have a great summer!

Got back from Mallorca 2 weeks ago.. even managed the Mallorca 312 (225). You've summed up the mallorca better than anyone... its as if the island has been purely designed for cyclists and made sure the weather was always perfect. Brilliant video and very nearly brought a tear to my eye... but I'm a man don't you know 👌
Tech tip: bring some zip ties always with you, you can fit a couple in the cable guide of the frame of your bike sometimes. If you break the shifting cable you can usually use a zip tie to lock the derailleur in a better gear. Still no shifting, but at least you can choose your gearing. Moreover zip ties can be useful also with other kinds of mechanical problems.

I've been to Mallorca once before and rode up Col de Soller from the west, but this trip this year was my first time at Sa Calobra, Formentor and what not (I'm not gonna link to my UA-cam channel in the comments of your channel, but I filmed Sa Calobra on my 360 camera, which might be of interest to you :) ) I'm hoping to go back again next year all being well! Seeing the traffic in your video though I'm glad I went early in the morning and got the shuttle up to Lluc, so that there was very little traffic, but next time I think I'd try and ride up from Port De Pollenca and back.

Hi Katie just got back yesterday. We did sa colabra the day after you. It was absolutely stunning! Have you been down to Arta and up to Ermita de Betlem (Coll de pescadors) then lunch in Arta square. Makes for a great alternative to climbing day. Enjoy the rest of your holiday
@@KatieKookaburra it was described to me as a mini sa colabra. It’s almost single track up the climb with great views. About 5 miles from Arta to the top of the climb.

3:16 according to openstreetmap, Sa Calobra is the name of the village at the base of the climb, Coll dels Reis is the name of the mountain pass and that pass is between the peaks Moleta de Cals Reis and Serra de na Rius. I think I'll stick to calling it Sa Calobra!
Now this to me is what group cycling is all about... having fun with your friends, and motivating each other. It''s not about who can go the fastest, etc... and many times cyclists forget to have fun and get too much competitive with each other.
Katie, do you use a cover on your garmin? Just got a 540 and in doubt about getting a silicone cover to protect it. Without looks better but might be more fragile?

That people perceive you always being on “holiday” some people will always be jealous/ nasty but most are happy for you and the content you create. I do enjoy your videos and your enthusiasm for cycling to people of all levels but I’m starting to feel uncomfortable about the amount of flying you’re doing essentially for pleasure. How about some trips by bike using ferries and trains?
Yes. I totally get the appeal of Southern Europe, especially in winter. But it would be great to see other destinations by train, which can have really good roads and climbs too. Given the viewership of this channel, it would be a great way of inspiring others to do the same. And the more we do it, the more train companies will get used to us moving bikes about.
